We’ve had the Evo TL V2 for 2 years now and put it through its paces up and down Eastern Australia.Pretty quick to set up and take down compared to a large pole tent. It replaces a tend and a shelter for us. There’s a small saving in weight and packing size for this, but the main advantage is that it’s simpler to deal with and more practical. The dark-out sleeping area is great, although it does get very hot in Queensland summer nights as airflow is more limited. This necessitates leaving the main door open, which means you don’t get all the advantage of the dark fabric. It’s fine in the more mild summer nights of the southern states. We definitely recommend the optional roof add-on. This necessitates leaving the main door open, which means you don’t get all the advantage of the dark fabric. It’s fine in the more mild summer nights of the southern states. We definitely recommend the optional roof add-on. This should come with the base tent in our opinion - as during any reasonable rain the single layer fly is not good enough. Once the fly fabric is saturated, rain falling on the fly creates a fine mist spray on the inside of the tent which makes it pretty poor as a rain shelter. Even the fabric of the sleeping area will get wet, making bedding damp as well. The extra roof tarp almost eliminates the issue. Another big issue is that as the side doors don’t have any hood protection, they can’t be left open if there’s the chance of rain. This is an issue in humid summer conditions, when it can be hot and wet - you still want the ventilation. Again, this is mostly a problem in the Queensland summers but no real issue in the southern states. The awning addition to the annex zone of the tent is a handy addition, but be aware that you can only successfully attach one component (the solid awning or the fly screen) at a time, which means you need to choose between getting wet or getting bitten. As it’s the annex, it’s not a major issue, but the tent could be improved with an additional attachment zipper to allow both. We’ve had the tent up in very high winds that has seen other tents fail. It’s definitely durable. All in all, it’s a pretty good family camping tent, although be aware of some of the ventilation and rain issues if you’re out in hot and humid conditions, and definitely definitely get the additional roof attachment if there’s any chance you’ll be out in the rain.

Aside from the weight which was to be expected Ive had no real issues with the set up of the tent. The bedroom pod comfortably sleeps 3 adults/children on king single stretcher beds. If you have smaller stretcher beds or air matresses Im sure youd fit in 1-2 more people. The "lounge area" or central section of the tent is roomy, I have my queen air mattress set up in this section & have had sufficient space around me for other storage of camping equipment, food & clothes. The front annex has been a good space for setting up the kitchen table (best suited to 4 people), additional storage or play area. I have only camped in light but frequent rain & had no issues with moisture, the optional awning set is helpful to have for additional privacy & weather protection. I feel the roof cover is something that should be included with the tent purchase & not an optional item. The huge difference towards possible condensation & light the roof cover makes means the roof is a necessity. The biggest drawback of the tent is the lacking of blockout material like what OzTrail & Coleman tents have, having the roof helps but the walls/other material needs this in sunny & hot Australia. Yes, I would recommend this tent, the air poles are the main reason I chose this as they withstand our windy conditions. This size tent is the biggest I would go for as it has been somewhat difficult finding accommodating sites but has been a head turner when set up!

Fantastic well thought out tent, so easy to put up and down!
7 February 2023

Fantastic tent, I can't believe how quick it was to put up and take down. I took it down (with no guide ropes in use) in less than 10 minutes on my own and easily packed back in the bag. Definitely recommend getting the ground sheet to protect the bottom. Really well thought out features, love the unzippable bedrooms, the back air vent, the black out rooms. I put it up on a scorching day and once all vents and doors where open it cooled quickly and was really pleasant. Really happy with my purchase.

Great for single parents
28 March 2023

As a single mum with two young kids, having to set up a full campsite on my own seemed like a daunting prospect. But buying the Evo TL, along with some Zempire tables and cupboards, has made it all possible.I can set up and pack down completely by myself, both in under 20 minutes. And the tent has plenty of room for the kids and I, all our gear, plus some extra bodies when we have friends join us.I can’t recommend it highly enough. Looking forward to when I can grab the aerobase too.

We're a family of 2 adults and 2 kids under 8. Bought the EvoTL just before lockdown 2/2020 and had to wait for floody UK winter to pass. Purchased footprint, carpet and awning walls. Erected Spring 2021 and camped in the garden during snow, hail and winds. Dry, cosy and with Monstamat mattresses and duvets a joy to snuggle up in. Have just taken it to Wales for a sunny week in June. Performed well on both occasions. Versatile space inside, comfortable carpet, lots of hanging options for lights, zipped slits for cables and pockets for things. Space for a covered kitchen out front. 3 door system, mesh options and window/wall vents heat for cooling/heating. Easy to put up and getting easier to put away with practice. For us the only criticism, and it's a minor one, is it lacks outside anchor points on the second beam (over the main door) where you could attach a 'washing line' under the open front area to hang wet coats etc. That said, blooming love our new tent and cant wait to get it out and up again. Carpet and awning definitely add to the versatility.

Luxury tent, will use a lot!
15 January 2023

Spent a week camping in Raglan & Hahei in our new Evo TM this summer & am in love with this tent! Just had myself and a 6yr old so it was super spacious for two of us, could have had another adult & it still would have been roomy. The living area comes in handy at night to escape the bugs & play board games and the side access door made transporting gear in and out from the car a breeze. We opened up all the vents as it was quite warm and the side door also helped here to offer more airflow. Was stoked to get a sleep-in due to the darkened bedroom pod & having the ability to have a seperate bedroom to my daughter. It rained a fair few nights in Hahei but not a drop found its way inside the tent. Unbelievably easy & quick to inflate/pitch & pack away. Outstanding performance in super high winds
11 July 2022

When the north westerly wind blows you had better watch out. I have seen many tents destroyed over the years in far less windy conditions. I have seen the tent completely flattened on the ground with a gust of wind and pop back up I un damaged. The tent was easy to put up and pack down is practical and well designed. My only fault is that as I was blowing up the tent the first time the nozzle that attaches the pump to the tent snapped but there was another that fitted it just meant my wife had to hod the nozzle into the tent valve. Overall it is an outstanding product.

So happy with this tent
24 January 2023

Recently purchased and spent 3 nights away in. 2 adults, 2 young children and a friends child wanted to sleep in our tent too, and heaps of room. The thought that has gone into detail is amazing. We did wake early hours one morning to extremely gusty winds and an air pole that was bending in however once we woke and removed the roof cover and pumped the tube up a little bit, all in a matter of minutes, the tent was fine. The one downside we found was the supplied pump. So hard to get a good reading of the correct PSI.

Very High Quality, Innovative, European Style

This is an exciting, high quality design with innovative options. Although heavy and bulky, due to it's large, tunnel style, it is a breeze to setup and would be ideal for larger families and very comfortable extended stays. The ridged "air" column design, numerous guy point, great ventilation and especially the "dark" inter tent lining makes for a very comfortable environment. Modular accessories would "grow" it's capabilities and extend it's life. Unfortunately, after several calls to customer service, it was confirmed that REI does not current plan on offering highly useful items like an extended vestibule and a protective outer roof covering to protect the tent and reflect heat. These and other accessories can be purchased affordably by overseas resellers. Due to it's size, it may be hard to find a site that can accommodate this tent. Recommend looking it the same tent in a medium or small size if you are intrigued by the design potential. "Air" tents are the "standard" in some foreign markets where they have been around for many years and are ideal for extended family holidays and foul weather. If you can manage the weight, bulk and larger footprint and don't worry about dealing with accessory/warranty issues from a foreign maker, I highly recommend Zempire and like designs. Do your research and encourage our beloved REI to further support these designs with new offerings and accessories.
