Zhiyun-Tech Weebill-S Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer
The Zhiyun-Tech WEEBILL-S incorporates the underslung mode design of its predecessor, the WEEBILL LAB, and also has a more compact form as well as other new features. The sling mode design consists of a handle on the rear that allows for easy switching to underslung mode as well as better handling in all other modes. Other improvements include upgraded motors and stabilization algorithm. The WEEBILL-S features 300% more motor torque and 50% more responsiveness. This allows you to better balance camera/lens combos such as the Canon 5D Mark IV with a 24-70mm zoom lens. Being released along with the WEEBILL-S as an optional accessory is the TransMount Image Transmission Module, a compact device designed to neatly mount under the quick release plate of the WEEBILL-S and allow wireless streaming of up to 1080p30 resolution over distances up to 328'. Up to three devices, including phones, tablets, and select professional monitors, can be synced up using corresponding receiver modules.

This is probably one of the best Gimbals on the market given the price point and what it is capable of with all of the upgrades. The gimbal alone provides stable images. The image transmitter can be used for anything; you can plug it into a PlayStation and transmit video wirelessly so you can use it for more than just your camera. The remote combined with the transmitter/receiver gives more stable motion control than you would get with your phone. The main reason I purchased the transmitter/reciever is because that allows object tracking. From the app you can place a square around just about any object and once it's locked on, the gimbal will follow that object 360 degrees. If you're doing a presentation, the camera will follow you as you walk around which adds quite a bit of versatility. This gimbal also works well on a slider. If you're doing a real estate shoot and you need to pull into a hallway and turn right, the gimbal slider combo provides great cinematic movements.I used to own a Feiyutech a1000 before but the Weebill is definitely the best gimbal on the market for small mirrorless cameras.

This is a review by someone who has never used a Gimbal. I'm only starting my videography adventure, I'm not that knowledgeable about any of this stuff. All that being said, I got this thing to work perfectly.I bought this on a whim because my work is making me do more video stuff. I was nervous and intimidated by this thing, if I'd know how to work it, balancing, etc. I watched a couple YouTube videos on balancing and after two weeks of heavy usage, I can swap lenses and rebalance this thing in no time. Especially since one or two axis' don't need to be adjusted if you're on the same camera body. However make sure you have EVERYTHING you want on your camera including the battery, memory card(s), lens filter, lens hood, etc. Something as small as your memory card ... MoreThis is a review by someone who has never used a Gimbal. Again I watched a short YouTube video on the different modes and now I've got a good feel for them. If you're shooting for Instagram content, you can put it in Vortex mode, turn it sideways and shoot in a stabilized portrait mode.Batteries last a long while as well. I know this because you have to long press the power button to turn it on and off. I thought I turned it off but actually left it on for a few hours in between shoots and still had more than half battery. I'm not sure if that's because it doesn't move when it's balanced or not, but it was a delightful surprise to see I didn't kill my battery by accidentally leaving it on and setting it down.Monitoring shots is definitely a little tedious though. I can get good shots, but I can definitely tell my next investment is going to be some sort of screen or monitor to attach to the side. I'm pretty sure that's what one of these mounts on the side are for.

A very useful accessory for dSLR videography, this unit provides stability and shooting position flexibility for what is often a difficult combination to hand hold. I'm currently using it with a Canon 5D IV and the 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens and the weight and size of this camera is well suited to this gimbal. If you are not used to using a gimbal stabilizer be prepared to watch a lot of tutorial videos from the Zhiyun YouTube channel as you are not going to learn much from the supplied instruction manual. The unit itself is of consumer or prosumer construction, lightweight metal and plastic with low end switches and toggles that don't inspire a lot of long term durability confidence, but nonetheless work well. When doing the essential balancing of your camera before use, I found the locking clamp for the camera mount difficult to use, I would have preferred screw clamps. All that said though, the use of plastic keeps the weight down and that makes use of the gimbal a lot more pleasant. Its ergonomics are good, but I would definitely recommend getting an extension grip as that adds a whole new level of ease to carrying the unit. The hand grip controls are lockable, pretty much essential during use as it is easy to knock the buttons and wheels and throw things out of whack. There are a lot of customization options available and you can control the unit without the need to use the external app. The ZY-Play app for your smartphone, although bloated, works pretty well, particularly for calibration purposes. I needed to do this as my unit was not leveling accurately at first and I went through the three types of calibration options, fixing the problem with the third that is a manual microadjustment of the motors. I found using the Weebill-S greatly improved the results of my video recording, and that's want I wanted. Well worth buying.

I sold my Ronin-S and purchased the Weebill-S to replace it. The Ronin definitely appears to have a more rugged build, but I just found it to be too big and too heavy for my needs. Most of my work involves me on my own, shooting at multiple locations in a day and I find the Weebill's small form factor and light weight perfect for this. My arms and back could handle using it all day long...especially when I had a nice light prime lens on my camera. I always bring it along, where I often left the Ronin back in the car and didn't use it as much. This thing fits easily in my Think Tank Street Walker bag along with a camera, a few lenses, LED lights & reflectors, and audio equipment. Having everything I need in one, fairly lightweight bag makes on-the-go shooting so much easier. The Weebill also has a quick release attachment for the camera, so once I do the initial balancing, I leave the mount on the camera and just pop it on & off the gimbal whenever I need it. The motors are strong enough to handle the weight of my Sony 24 - 70 GM lens throughout it's zoom range without having to rebalance the camera. I really liked that the Weebill-S worked perfectly right out of the box too. The factory settings didn't need to be adjusted at all for my set up and if I did need to tweak things a little, it can easily be done from the screen on the handle. No phone app needed which can be a real inconvenience when you're in the thick of things on a shoot. I also bought Zhiyun's quick release fittings for it's handle (mini Tripod) which make relocating it for shooting high and low shots very quick and easy to do. To sum it up....the Weebil-S is exactly what I personally was looking for in a gimbal. Because it's so small, lightweight, and easy to use, I always bring it along and never find myself saying....I sure wish I had my gimbal for this shot. Time will tell how durable it is. So far it has worked great for me with my GH5 and Sony A7C cameras and I would highly recommend it.
The gimbal works well in most areas. The hardware is good but the ap ZY Play leaves a bit to be desired.I have a heavy BMPCC 4k video camera and even with heavyish lenses it works ok with balancing weights. At the moment the gimbal will not talk to the camera after an update to the camera firmware. The ap does control the zoom ok (with the sevo focus) but the focusing, despite recent improvements, is not adequate. You have to move a slider which is difficult to get an accurate focus. I slowed the focus control which helps but it is really not good enough. Stand alone aps like Bluetooth+ are easier to use and also have a button to auto focus which ZY Play should have on the video screen like the camera screen. Using the ZY Play ap on an ipad and Bluetooth+ on a phone is awkward. This gimbal is so close to being very good but is let down by the ZY Play which I am hoping they will improve. The long wait for the firmware update is also frustrating. The Transmitter and Follow focus work well but could be so much better with improvements to ZY Play.
First off, I am pretty impressed with this gimble. I am new to the gimble part of video. But I wil say that it has definitely upped my video quality by stabilizing the picture.I am using this with a Canon 80D. The nice part is that this setup is fairly light compared to other gimbles. I have been able to balance this setup fairly easily. It only takes me a couple of minutes to get it balanced now.Now for some of the downfalls of this gimble. First, and worst of all (and is the reason I took away a couple of stars) is that it is very difficult to get it mounted to the baseplate. I have had this installed, I thought correctly, all to have my camera fall off. I almost broke my camera at one point when it seemed solid on. First, and worst of all (and is the reason I took away a couple of stars) is that it is very difficult to get it mounted to the baseplate. I have had this installed, I thought correctly, all to have my camera fall off. I almost broke my camera at one point when it seemed solid on. Then I took a shot raising the camera all to have it go flying off hitting me in the face and my camera hitting the ground. Luckily it was soft ground leaving only a very minor gouge in the case. So now I have to lift up on my camera alone to see if the mounting plate falls off the baseplate.Second, remembering all the sequences of the controls is annoying (especially since I go between uses quite a few weeks). But the buttons are in various number of locations on the body of the gimble. Once I do remember, it works well.So beyond the mounting issues, this has been a great addition to my video arsenal. But the mounting issue is a pretty large issue for me. I have kept this product. But if I had the money at the time, I probably would have gone with one of the other brands.Would I recommend this the Weebill S? If you can get past the mounting plate and base, for the money, yeah. If not, no. Look somewhere else.
The gimbal working very smooth so far. I used it for 2 weeks and it's fun having the camera over. The unfortunate reason that i don't give it 5 stars is the compatibility!! I got a Lumix GX 85. Which us a great compact 3/4 camera and light weight which would of give it a geeat advantage to be used with the weeble S. But the camera doesn't conect to the gimbal at all !!!! So many functions that were estional such as recording from the gimbal isn't supported,!!! I want to by the ficus/ zoom part but now not sure will it work or not for the uncompatablety .
I got this gimbal for use with my canon rebel t7, and was happy to discover that it worked. Setup was a bit of a pain and I almost returned it because I thought it didn’t work with my camera. After going through all of that, I am pretty happy with the performance. After trying out a DJI gimbal first, I was a bit spoiled in terms of build quality. This gimbal has an okay build quality but it’s not spectacular. I honestly hate the mounting plate that goes onto the camera. Nothing stops it from spinning around and I don’t really trust it to hold my expensive camera/lens.Aside from that, the batteries are kind of stupid too. They used some weird type of 18650 that prevents you from using your own (you have to buy more of theirs if you want backup batteries). It’s also annoying that they put the focus dial on the gimbal but didn’t include the motor. It’s clear they are trying very hard to make you spend more money if you want to have full access to the features of the gimbal. To be honest, I think this gimbal/company has a lot of potential but it needs a bit more refining. There are lots of gotchas that come along with this budget choice of gimbal, and the amount you’re going to spend will quickly climb up to match other higher-quality choices. But if you just want this as a gimbal for a simple shots its great. If you have heavier lenses the be aware it will be impossible to balance this without buying another one of their products. If they included the focus motor with this, I would have given the item 4 stars. If they had included a better mounting plate for the camera as well, it would have gotten 5 stars. But without this, it only gets 3
Just purchased this a few weeks ago and had the chance to use it for several projects now. Overall very pleased with the gimbal. I use a Canon EOS R with 35mm, 24mm, and 50mm lens.Pros:Fairly simple to learn. After a quick read through the manual and using the gimbal for a few hours, I was confident I would be able to use it for shoots with no issue. I had never used a gimbal before purchasing this, so I was very relieved with how easy to use it was.For simple moving shots or running alongside an actor it makes shots look significantly more stable.Battery life was longer than my camera battery, didn't have any workflow issues as far as power goes.Cons:A bit slow on panning with heavier lenses. Takes a bit of practice to guide it in time with a moving subject. No option for vertical camera mode, not a huge deal but if you're doing vertical content this may not be the best choice.Overall very pleased with the weebill S and look forward to using it more!
I had already ordered the DJI 3 combo gimbal stabilizer, but it wasn't going to be in on time, so I purchased this stabilizer the day before I needed it to shoot a music video. It was a spur-of-the-moment, last-minute option. It was honestly a lifesaver for that day, as the footage would have been WAY too amature for my liking if I hadn't used the gimbal.LIKES:Beginner friendlyEasy to use for the first stabilizer I've triedOffers better footage than handheld, and is still able to make professional-looking shots.DISLIKES:Axis Locks: I had quite a bit of trouble with them... they would randomly lock and wouldn't cooperate while I was shooting at times which made it difficult to get the right angles and get the shot how I wanted it.Setting Up: It was quite ... MoreI had already ordered the DJI 3 combo gimbal stabilizer, but it wasn't going to be in on time, so I purchased this stabilizer the day before I needed it to shoot a music video. I needed to put a stabilizer on the footage in my editing program to help.Payload: It can't hold a real large camera or lens, just an average size, and the balancing point was a bit awkward at times. There are others that have a second holding bar, which would definitely make it easier to use.If you do video footage here and there as a hobby and need a little bit more professional quality than a tri-pod, I would recommend this gimbal. It's worth having if you want that level above most. However, if you are looking to be more professional and use it in your career, I'd recommend upgrading to a DJI. I am looking forward to getting my DJI stabilizer. I'll write a review after using it and trying it out.
