Zojirushi NHS-10 6-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker

I tried it for the first time yesterday and followed their directions for brown rice, but it ran out of water and switched to “Keep Warm" before the rice was fully cooked. So tonight I added more water thinking that it would cook longer and soften the rice better but by the time it went to “Keep Warm” the rice was sticking to the bottom of the pan and still not fully cooked! I also tried steaming salmon for the recommended 13 minutes but it was just barely warm!I’m disappointed in the design, too. Where the bottom of the pot meets the sides, it is only barely rounded but a wider curve would allow for better heating and greater ease when scooping the rice out. Being a Zojirushi, I had high expectations but this one does not work as well as my Oster which I bought for less than half the price.

32 yr old rice cooker and still going strong!

I've had the same rice cooker from this company since 1992 and it still works perfectly every time. It's been so long though that I decided I wanted to upgrade to one with a nonstick liner. I didn't want anything electronic I just wanted the same rice cooker but newer. The company was wonderful to deal with and I did not discard my old rice cooker because it's such a true friend still working fine. Highly recommend.

Best rice cooker on the market

This is our second rice cooker of the same type. We love it! Never a care, never a concern…. It just makes the rice while we are making the rest of the dinner. Every kind of rice is perfect. The warning about cancer causing agents in this product are about the styrofoam in the packing, nothing else, so don’t worry. I am completely happy with this product. We have rice about three times per week, if that helps.

Disappointment

So disappointed. I got this for my husband last Christmas. He loves rice! We have the Zojirushi mugs and love them so we thought this rice cooker was a no brainer. I don't know if ours is defective or what, but it spews sticky, starchy water out of the hole in the lid and all over our counter! I read on their website to make sure and wash the rice beforehand, and we have washed rice, soaked rice, rinsed and rinsed again. It doesn't matter. The cooker still spews everywhere! Also, the instructions say to let it sit on Keep Warm for 15 minutes once it finishes cooking, but when we did this, the rice turned out very dry. So now we put paper towels down when we cook it and unplug it as soon as it is done.

No burnt rice! Thank you.

I did a bunch of digging around and wanted a rice cooker for a while. Was obsessed and it’s well known getting the Neurro Fuzzy model for $200 is top dog, told myself I’d try the base model and was planning on hating it, but honestly after using this version today, for price the NHS-06, you cannot go wrong. It made the best basmati rice I’ve had and I make good stovetop. This unit makes consistent rice, easy cleanup and takes up a small footprint. Makes more than enough rice for 4 people and leftovers - the small unit is likely all most people especially a couple, can’t see people eating more than 6 cups of rice. Maybe a family of 4 might want to 10 cup version. I rinsed the rice until the water ran clear, soaked 30 min in the rice cooker, then flipped the cook switch to on. Once done I let sit for 15 min, then fluffed. Very satisfied.

Simple rice cooker to use. Add rice and water to the bowl, plug it in, and then start the cooking cycle. This cooks in about 10-15 minutes depending on the amount. I have not tried the steamer insert. It is a bit small. Something twice as deep would be more practical, but the designer must have had a reason for the shallow insert. You can't go wrong with the manufacturer.

I was looking for a rice cooker after hearing all the hype. I really did not have the money to spend on an expensive one like I had been hearing about. This is the same brand as some of the more expensive ones I saw and I was skeptical at first, and I had really made my mind up that I would probably return it. Oh man, was I wrong.This rice cooker was an absolute game changer. I have used it multiple times now and with different rice types, and it has been a complete success each time. I would never cook rice any other way.For the price especially, I could not recommend this product enough.If you have never used a rice cooker before and are looking to take your rice game to the next level, this is a GREAT place to start.
