I recently upgraded from an older zoom to this 32-bit float recorder and it has truly been a blessing. Having 32 bit float at this price is awesome. I have also found that the turn on speed and menu navigation is a lot faster with this newer version. I highly recommend this product and it is definitely an upgrade from older zoom models in my opinion.

I had originally bought, from Andertons, a ZoomQ2n to record audio and video for various performances. That machine let me down on a few occasions, simply shutting off for no reason. Very frustrating. The issue was, apparently, experienced by many others and Andertons eventually took the machine back. They replaced it, after some discussion, with the H4e which has, so far, been reliable. No video, of course, but I have an I-phone for that. I like the ease of use and the feature allowing two other mics to be added. The final proof will be soon at a recording of an important, to me, concert. Will keep you in touch.

Used to record out from PA system to capture live audio from a performance to sync with video in post.
The 32-bit float is worth it alone for this price, but watch out for the battery life... Zoom claims about 10 hours, but that is using only the internal top mics. If you use TRS or XLR, you'll only get about 2.5 hours with alkaline batteries.
I wanted to love this, and have been happy with the audio quality, but the time drift is atrocious and makes it borderline unusable to sync with video. Using Deity TC1s as a reference, this turned a 46:35;01recording into a 46:45;07 long track (7% slower).
There are three fundamental flaws with the design of this unit.1. Only the inputs are 32-bit float. The built-in mics are not.2. There is no way to get a single polywave file, nor can we disable the Stereo mix. (I mean, the whole point of recording in 32-bit float is to mix it LATER.) So what we end up with are three separate stereo files (Mic, Input, Mix) for each clip in a separate folder for each clip. This makes file management in post a nightmare.3. The battery life is...NOT good. Takes 3 or 4 sets of batteries to get through a single wedding reception.Given these flaws, I cannot recommend this unit.
