I already had the LiveTrak L-12, but needed more channels. This board is amazing, like its smaller brother. Works great for mixing live, especially if your band uses IEMs. The six monitor outputs gives everyone their own monitor mix. It also is an audio interface to my DAW, Reaper, in addition to being able to record directly to an SD card for recording live shows. It's very easy to use. The only thing I'd say, and it's not really a negative, is that it takes some getting used to if you've never had a digital board before (remembering to select the channel you want to EQ, or selecting the proper monitor output to adjust). All in all, I highly recommend it.

I've been using this for 6 months now and it's a decent piece of equipment. Upgraded from the R24 so I could have more inputs and I've been loving the flexibility of this unit. I have used it very little as a standalone unit so I'm not familiar with that aspect, but I've found this to be great in every other functional aspect. The onboard effects and eq are decent though I shut them down to record. 6 mic outputs with individual mixes is a great feature for recording with others. The preamps are really clean. The only drawback I can think of is something that's unfortunately become standard with electronics in general: cheap casing and knobs/sliders. I wouldn't want to transport this thing around too much without a decent case. It sits in my studio and I don't plan ... My last digital mixer was a Yamaha 01V96. The LiveTrak L-20 does the same job in a smaller package and 1/4th the weight (not counting the Anvil case). In lieu of motorized faders, the L-20 displays the programmed position using the channel meters. That conveys the same essential information without all the complexity. COVID restrictions led me to do live-streaming, which is closer to TV broadcasting than to audio/video recording. Associated tasks include FOH sound reinforcement. The visual and tactile advantages of a mixing board were a decisive factor in my choice, coupled with the need to lay out up to 16 microphones before going heavy. The L-20 will also save 10 scenes, including eq and fader settings, perfect for mixed venues. There are also 6 programmable ... MoreMy last digital mixer was a Yamaha 01V96. This ideal if you are in a band who wants a mixer with In-ear monitoring as it has 5 separate mixes for headphone outputs. Great to capture live performances, practising/jamming sessions to record each instrument onto an SD card in WAV format to capturing the moment. If you need good audio interface for a DAWS you have 14 in 4 out, which is good value for money, however you are limited to 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz sample rates when using it as an Interface. The plastic casing it feels solidly built and good quality Pots and Faders. As a 14 channel mixer for live use for small band using in ear monitoring it has very few limitations - mainly effects. As a recording device for a live band or to capture the moment without lots of setting up brilliant. As a recording studio ... As a recording device for a live band or to capture the moment without lots of setting up brilliant. As a recording studio limited in that you cannot edit or process tracks; however, it was designed that to export your tracks to a DAWS (I send mine to BandLab) and the edit and produce your tracks there. The only little niggle I have is the track relates to the channel you are plugged in, so if overdubbing you need to re-plug your instrument to the track you want to record it to. You lose the use of a stereo channel when connecting to a computer for audio playback. Otherwise I love the way I can capture a recording idea really quickly without having to boot up my PC.
I’ve been using a Behringer Flow for the last year, but there were a few things that were putting me off. Lack of channels and struggling to see the app on my phone at outdoor gigs were two of them. With this desk everything is easily seeable and the great thing is when you get the right mix, you just save it and that’s it! Also the fact that you can record gigs, putting all 10 tracks, unprocessed, onto an SD card is a great bonus. All in all hugely recommended.
Sound:I got to where I was mixing most of my music in DAW software but since I got this I wanted to make myself record everything on here track by track and mix on board as well. It's made me think a little more about how I play and record and be a bit more meticulous. In a DAW it's easy to cut and paste away problems (which adds another whole creative element btw). Using this I record track by track like in old days and use faders in and out.Features:This device is lovely to look at and does not feel cheap. It has cool lights and dual intensity leds on faders . It also uses a channel strip for effects and eq. These work very well. I like the effects on board. You have to select the channel that activates these settings. I would say it took me a few minutes but is easy to get. There are also 9 scenes that can be placed in memory for quick recall. So it will remember all the setting you currently have when you lock it in.Ease of Use:You have to download the drivers to use with this off the Zoom site. There is a problem however that I have not yet resolved. I can get sound down the USB cable to the board. I cannot get sound from the board up the USB cable into the computer which means I can't record direct to DAW. My R24 is the same way. I dug through all the settings and it sees the device both for input and output but for some reason I can't make it work. Not entirely convinced it's Zoom driver but it could be. I don't use the device in the direct record to DAW much but I would like to get to that option. I take the wav files off the Zoom that I record and up load them into the DAW via the USB cable. Which is the reason I went away from the BR1600. It was too slow moving files.Quality:I think this will work well for a long time.Value:Yes.Manufacturer Support:Their web site is easy to nav but I am going to contact them for help in resolving the issue I mentioned above. The Wow Factor:I generally don't buy stuff I don't need. I needed a new mixer. I was getting around about the old one but it was no longer satisfactory.Overall:As a mixing board it's very attractive. Lots of neat lights and knobs and faders. As just a mixer this would be quite expensive but when you factor in the ability to multi track record it's worth it in my opinion. I bought this primarily because I needed a new mixer, my old Behringer was toast and I own a Zoom R24 multi track recorder. That device took me a long time to warm up to as I had been used to the Boss BR1600CD recorder. The Zoom R24 won my heart over in time. So I thought why buy Tascam when I am not sure and I liked my last Zoom so I got this.
Despite the years and following our dreams of being rock stars (lesquithewhotribute.com), we have gone from old to new. Looking for a console that helps us in everything. From monitoring, from outside sound and above all, recording the day to day of our rehearsals and our concerts, to be able to always have a trace of what we like the most in this life, keep playing The Who songs. The console is great, it's simple, you don't need a lot of experience in all this. We highly recommend it, it is one of the few instruments that you can say that you have everything in one device. Overall:Purchased this mixer to replace my Mackie VLZ1604 VLZ Pro. Was not sure I wanted to spend the money on a mew mixer but wanted to achieve better sound with my classic rock cover band. I am very happy with the Zoom L20. This mixer is super lightweight and is very easy to bring to a gig if needed. also, the look of the mixer is super clean, and the configuration of the front panel is very easy to navigate. The sound that this mixer delivers is crystal clear and paired with my QSC GSD 8 is a great addition to my live sound mix. I wish the mixer had more inputs for other input devices such as an equalizer but that's OK. Ordering from zZounds was as usual effortless, I just placed the order, and my new mixer was at my door 2 days later. The guys and gals at zZounds are the absolute BEST in the business!!!! I only order my gear through zZounds!!!! I Highly recommend these people for all your gear purchases!!!!!!
A little steeper learning curve from my analog board than I anticipated, but love the sound I am getting and the flexibility of outputs. Since it doesn't have motorized faders (one reason I bought it), LEDs beside each fader show the last position, or stored position in the individual Scene. To adjust the sound of that channel, you have to raise the fader past the LEDS and then take it all the way to 0, and then can adjust the sound. Very 'un-analog-like', but once you get use to it, no worries. Easy to set-up customized outputs for monitors of headphones. The Pres sound very 'open' and are noticeably brighter than those on my Mackie board. I recorded 8 live tracks from my band at 16 bit/44.1kHz for 1.5 hours and each .wav files was around 400K, so the 128G card has plenty of capacity for extended live recording. I transferred the files to Cubase and developed great-sounding MP4s. The quality of the records matched or exceed those from my Focusrite USB interface. Highly pleased and for the money, I feel the L20 is an excellent choice.
First impressions after 48 hours are very positive. Extremely intuitive to use. Without any reference to the paperwortk, I inserted an SD card, plugged in a couple of mics, recorded an interview and some acoustic guitar in stereo, played the recording back down headphones, removed the SD card and transferred the files to my DAW. Faultess sound quality. The built in reverb sounds sound very impressive, at least down headphones, so really looking forward to doing the first gig and recording the whole thing. The casing is plastic and it feels lightly built, which is good for those of us who prefer to do gigs with minimal gear, but probably means it will need care on the road. Time will tell.Minor point: it arrived with a European plug but I managed to borrow an ... MoreFirst impressions after 48 hours are very positive. Extremely intuitive to use.
