Zoom Q2n 4K Handy Video Recorder

First, I have to say that the price of the Zoom Q2N-4K has to be considered when assessing what you get. The audio quality from Zoom is always top notch. Absolutely no complaints there. I have seen better video from even inexpensive mobile phones and cameras. But in good light, the options are incredible. From wide-angle to close shots, the video quality is acceptable. In darker settings, not so much. But pick your shots and this cam will give you outstanding audio and acceptable video for the price.

Better than the Q8

The video and audio quality are fantastic. I wish that it had a front display so that I can see from behind my keyboard what the video looks like. However, I can press record, step behind the keyboard, and then stop and press play to see if my head is fitting in the frame...It would be nice if the display were a little bigger and better quality. I like that this is really light, and if you press the type of scene you're recording, the lighting is great. When I select concert for the audio level, I don't have to worry about clipping, and I still get a good audio level. The Q8 has a lot of bells and whistles, but the audio quality is quite inferior.

Great Audio, Good video in bright light but poor in dim.

Great audio, good video outside in bright light, terrible video in dark settings where I used it to record bands.However with good stage lighting works well with bright colours. The Audio is what it does best.Only Lithium batteries if you want it as portable, Lithium batteries will give you two hours BUT the camera will get VERY hot if you use continuosly, but ok for 45 minute set. As I have yet to find a better alternative (especially audio) I recommend.But remember it won't work well in darkly lit venues and will look pixalted.

Great little camera for the price

Quality video and very good audio. Compact with plenty of features. Only negative is battery life, but I use a 5 volt phone charger to avoid that, problem solved. Screen is small, but can only be so big because of the size of unit. Several lighting settings to choose from as well as low frequency cut for audio. Takes a bit of time to figure out best settings for you but once you do you cant beat it for the price.

Great little device

Use it to document our 17 piece big band, decent audio with built in mics. Video is also good, I dont think the camera can fully utilize 4K due to limitation of optics and image sensor. It still does a good job, I tend to use lower resolution to avoid the large files of 4K. I used 2500 mAh NiMh batteries and was able to record for 2.5 hours continuously with the battery indicator showing 50%.

Nice camera for live music

I haven't had this Q2N very long, but bought it to record our "Jams". I recorded myself at home briefly, and I was very satisfied with what was recorded. I am powering the camera with a USB power bank, as I understand it can go through a set of batteries quickly. The video and sound seem to be good. That is all I was concerned with. The camera seems to be well suited for my purposes.

Audio is good but camera is horrible with noise even by bright indoor lights . Terrible product and very overated.

Why didn't I know this product existed earlier?

After using it for online zoom music lesson for the first time and testing it, I am pleased with the sound quality. Regrettably I didn't know this product earlier. Two years into the pandemic with online zoom music lessons, finally found the perfect tool. There are many other features waiting to be explored on this handy video recorder - too many to be all tested in one day. One thing I got stuck waiting on was the micro USB cable that is for connecting the device to the laptop which does not come with the package. I had to purchase it separately.

Zoom Miles Ahead In Ingenuity

Picture and sound perfect, works well without internal batteries via power block. Meant for static use for musicians but can be used mobile for interviews but clumsy to handle without tripod due to shape. Viewing screen far too small and you lose the image after a very short time (to conserve power) and have to reset via FOV control that moves the camera as you fiddle around. Can be annoying but, hey, what do you want from a camera at that price - Zoom always way in front in innovation, absolutely perfect for the job it was designed for, keep it up.
