Love this 10" Pro chef's knife. Nice and long, covers plenty of surface area, allowing for dicing and slicing larger amounts of foods at one time. Made with German high carbon steel, which means it will last a lifetime, and will remain sharper longer. The curved bolster offers comfort, and allows one to sharpen the entire length of the blade without interference. The rounded blade falls right into place when using a rocking cutting motion and has decreased the mount of time I need to prep food items. The steel is further fortified with the Friodur hardening process, which allows for even distribution of the carbons resulting in a blade that is free from weak spots, and is built to last. This knife looked really nice coming out of the box and had a pretty sharp edge, but as I started to use it, the weight is definitely shifted more into the handle than I like. It makes the tip feel a little harder to handle, and doesn't feel as precise. But the biggest problem I found with it is that only after a month of use it's already staining and rusting, and this is stainless steel. So, I will be contacting Zwilling about this because that shouldn't be happening.I will say on the positive side though, this knife handles cutting large chunks of meat and lots of vegetables really well. The only problem I've had chopping something is with slippery foods or onions. So I find myself having to pull the knife out with a little more force than I like.

Truth be known this is my first professional chopping knife. My husband has been telling me to buy one for years but I just never splurged on one. With Thanksgiving coming up, I thought I’d buy one in order to spatchcock the turkey. Tried it out today on boneless chicken breasts & WOW what a difference. I’ve been working too hard in the kitchen with my dull knives. The blade fits nicely in my hand & is well balanced. Very happy with this purchase. I just ordered a blade guard today too (didn’t think of it when I ordered the knife). Food prep just became more enjoyable.

Best chef's knife I've owned
5 August 2020

Many years ago, I was a partner in a chain of 24-hour coffee shops. I spent a fair amount of time behind the cook line, filling in for cooks who were late or swamped. I don't miss those days at all, but still cook for pleasure.Spending hundreds of hours doing volume cooking makes you appreciate having the right equipment. Although durability is important in a commercial setting, having tools--especially knives--that do their job well is critically important.I bought my 8-inch chef's knife about six months ago and have used it every day. It is exquisitely sharp and has maintained its edge perfectly using only a steel from time to time. It is on the heavy side (a plus in my opinion) but perfectly well balanced. Excellent blade, interesting profile
1 January 2021

First off, the quality of the steel and the ergonomics of this knife is superb. I was maybe a little leery of the blade retention having experience with Japanese knives but it has been proving to be stellar. Many months in and I've yet found a need to sharpen, as light work on a knife steel seems to be all that is needed. Many people are most likely attracted to the pro line for the ergonomics and they don't disappoint. This is easily my most comfortable knife, and perfectly compliments a pinch grip.A bit on the blade profile - if you are accustomed to a traditional western style blade, or even many of the newer Japanese hybrid blades, this has a different curvature that takes a little getting used to. The curve from the point to belly is more dramatic, and the belly of the blade itself is completely flat. Rock chopping with a classic chefs knife to this will feel like you're hitting a sudden stop at the bottom of the stroke. This isn't a bad thing, but different. However I've found it is particularly well suited to tap chopping.Overall this is a fantastic knife, the quality is top notch with great steel. If you are extremely used to a traditional chef's knife blade shape maybe look for the version of this knife with that blade profile (there is one). Used multiple times daily for 4 months.

Handle design and weight is unmatched
10 January 2024

I've owned a couple high-end Japanese knives over the past few years, and switching over to this German knife has been a game changer! The thicker handle and heavier tang makes helps me have more control over the blade. It also makes the blade feel so much lighter than it should be. I don't foresee myself buying a different series of knife for a very long time.

High Quality & Affordable

Zwilling Pro 6” Chef knife has High quality materials and feels great in my hand. At 70 yrs young, I prefer this for rocking and slicing most vegetables like onions, carrots, celery, daikon, etc. I actually prefer this 6” size to my past favorite high grade 8” Chef knife. Happy with this purchase!

I didn't know what difference quality makes

No regrets! I was a bit anxious to purchase this knife online without having a feel for it, but so happy I did! I'm not a pro by any means, but was taught to hold a knife using the pincer grip from an early age. This knife has the option to do that. Hahaha! I didn't even know that was a thing. So sharp! My heart was beating fast the first time I used it. And I thought my old knife was sharp. Wow. Even the sound it made was nice. A whole new world of quality. I was so excited! I do have to upgrade my cutting board to get the complete feel of the knife, but so far...I'm sold. I purchased it directly from here because I don't trust other sellers. Don't let it sit in water. Hand wash if possible. If you use the dishwasher, be mindful of the detergent you use. Read a lot ... MoreNo regrets! Read a lot of reviews (for other products and companies even), customers complain about rust. Our fingertips get "pruny" after being in water for too long (and we're made of mostly water) so imagine a metal sitting in in water being treated with harsh soaps and detergents. I treat this thing like I want it to last years. Not too heavy, not too light. I have long fingers and it's comfortable. My husband has fairly big hands and he also is in love with it. It was like shallots we're being magically thinly sliced. Beautiful. Next is the cleaver. I. Cannot. Wait. Give it a try. Worst that can happen is you don't like the feel of it or whatever and you can return it.

Makes me actually look forward to prep
30 June 2021

Two words: CURVED BOLSTER. It's a game changer. I occasionally do around 3 hours of prep work when making kimchi and used to get a huge blister at the base of my index finger because of my pinch grip. This knife however is so comfortable to use. It's hefty enough that I feel like I have control without it feeling heavy at all.Out of box sharpness is fantastic and passes the printer paper slice test. Easily slices thick root vegetables and is precise enough to make grapefruit suprèmes. Even with the German steel and amazing build quality, would recommend getting a ceramic or steel honing rod with angle guides to use before each use for good knife maintenance.

Shared knife upgrade for large and small hands
19 January 2023

This knife is an upgrade for my wife and myself to both use. I have a few high end japanese knives for myself, but thought it was time to give our old Chinese made western chef knife a much needed retirement. This knife was a welcome upgrade for the shared household chef knife. Super sharp and pristine right out of the box. The blade is perfectly straight. The edge is ground perfectly. The handle fits nicely in both of our hands, even with mine being much larger(I'm 6'5" and she's 5'7"). We couldn't be happier with this chef knife. Even with this being the "traditional" version, this still has more of a curve than most western chef knives. That curve makes rocking even easier for better clearance on taller vegetables.
