I ordered these after reading reviews and also being endorsed by Vets as an initial help towards relieving Separation Anxiety. We are about 2 weeks in and I'm not sure yet whether they are really helping. But I think I will keep using them for a few months to really see if they help. My dog is pretty calm normally, she just suffers from SA. So as a tool to help with training, it's probably a good thing!

Rescue cat that was peeing inappropriately (couches, carpets, anything soft). Vet solution was euthanize. Went to cat specialist vet, put on prozac which turned cat into zombie zoned out animal with no quality of life. Cattery (non vet but cat specialist obviously) provided heaps of tips and recommended Zylkene so weaned him off prozac (slowly and working with the behaviour) and implemented Zylkene twice a day. I now have a cat on no medication that is an absolute joy to live with. When we know there is going to be a change ie going to the cattery / vet then we give him Zylkene once a day a couple of days before (it totally chills him out and is much happier when put into cage). Loves the taste too.

If you have an anxious or stressed animal, give this a go. We have construction going on next door and our cat was incredibly stressed. He ended up in our ensuite shower for several days, was constantly licking his lips, grinding his teeth and scared of everything. After 3 days on this, he hasn't been back in the shower, is eating better, venturing outside and playing almost like his old self. The change in behaviours incredible

These capsules do work but don't expect miracles. We are using them to help with supporting our Groodle to get over her anxiety in the car. It just takes the edge off. You still need to use positive reenforcement. It doesn't sedate or anything like that. A bonus is that if she has one with her dinner she sleeps well through the night.
Not sure this product really makes a difference. We have ordered it 3 times. For large dogs, you need to take 2 tablets a day, for a few days before an event, we found this didn't work - further research said it takes a few weeks to start making a difference, which means the bottle only lasts 2 weeks - If you are looking at long term use that makes it $160 a month! Honestly, it didn't take the edge off our 35kg German Shepherd
My 12 year old big boy stopped using his litter tray so after checking that there was nothing physically wrong our vet suggested using different litter and/or Zylkene. Changing the litter brand didn't have any effect but the Zylkene has given me hope together with puppy training pads which he is happy to use. However, it's taken 2 months to see positive results (eg not urinating on the carpet). He weighs in at just over 10 kgs so the 225 mg seems to be just right.
I've had my rescue cat for coming up to 2 years. He was incredibly anxious and aggressive when I first got him, and a vet put him on the cat version of Prozac. Safe to say it didn't seem to work for him, and I never felt the medication actually helped him to calm down and feel content in his surroundings. With the medication not making much of a difference, the vet told me it was likely my cat would never be rehabilitated or domesticated. I'm stubborn and didn't want to accept this, so tried a new vet who specialised in cats. The vet was fantastic and recommended Zylkene, and honestly it's been an absolute godsend. The fact it's not a hardcore medication, it's not addictive and can be used longterm is great. The fact it's not a hardcore medication, it's not addictive and can be used longterm is great. I mix a capsule in with my cat's food every morning, and he seems to like the taste (which is great because he's usually quite fussy). He's been on Zylkene for 6 months and he just seems more chilled, confident and less reactive to sounds or unexpected events in his surroundings. He'll cuddle up in my lap and sleep in the open too, things he never would have done before. I'd recommend Zylkene to anyone who has a rescue animal. It's a fantastic tool to support long-term rehabilitation, without using more intense medications (but of course these can work well on some pets too, just not for my cat). Also, if you have a vet who isn't being supportive with your rescue animal's journey, then find a new vet! Every rescue is different, and some just need more time and tools like this supplement to gently assist them. I'll keep my cat on Zylkene for the foreseeable future, it's worth the money!
Background and then review: My boy spends his days hiding under our bed. He is friendly but seems to just always be on edge and likes his space. If it's not quiet he is hiding. I have two cats who share their food so I've been giving one tablet in the morning and night. I am nearly through the first bottle and In the last 2 weeks I have really noticed huge change in him. I see him out and about more, he is actually coming up to me for cuddles and purring! He usually never purrs! He is rubbing up against me like a normal cat does. He is very clearly more relaxed. I really would recommend giving this a go but give it the whole bottle before giving up hope. I am definitely going to continue to buy this!
I've used Zylkene for our old cat, who had a bladder condition that could be made worse by stress. He loved the powder on his food and coped with stressful experiences (like moving) so much better. After our old cat died, I adopted a rescue cat and have used Zylkene with him to help him settle into his new home. I think it's helped him because he was already known to be quite nervous and he seems to have coped with the change very well. I'd definitely recommend trying Zylkene if you have an anxious cat.
Our vet recommended this for our anxious small dog. It has taken the edge off some of his worries for the everyday. It helped him cope with the noise of extended roadworks outside our house for months. He has it sprinkled on his dinner and seems to be a neutral taste. He still is playful and happy. He also still gets worried about storms and the vet had recommended some additional support for those bigger stressors. I think it's worth talking to your vet and seeing how it might help support your dog's mental health.
