I’ve been using a corded buffer/polisher for years-my neighbor purchased this Milwaukee polisher and I had to have one! This machine is definitely heavy duty and built to last. So much better not dragging a cord around - it does the job as it should, and the variable speed is a big plus too, depending on the amount of cut you need. I used a 4ah battery, and a full polish of an F-250 pickup used a little less than half the battery. Definitely recommend this product.

Another Chinese product!

After removing this from the new box, I noticed a wet spot inside where the polisher head and pad meet. It looks like the grease is seeping out. Based on another review where it slung grease all over their vehicle, I'm really concerned about the quality now. It aslo males a horrible grinding sound when coming to a stop and has way more vibration than I expected. Probably will end up returning this one. Definitely not what I expected for $300

This is an absolutely fantastic orbital polisher. I love detailing both mine and my wife's car and this polisher does exactly that with the right polishing/cutting pad and compound. I was always worried that if i got a polisher that I might damage the clearcoat or paint but this orbital polisher did it perfectly with the right technique. This would be my first recommendation to anyone starting out with DIY automotive detailing.

Great start but the gear gnashing on power down seems like a problem
11 January 2023

Used to polish a 40' boat. Worked great lots of power and battery lasted a long time. I ran into two problems... 1. The neck where the battery connects is very weak and after polishing a 40' boat loosened up significantly. Feels like a weak spot that acted like a future break. 2. When you release your finger from the trigger the gears gnash which also seems like won't last too long. I called Milwaukee and shared my concerns and they recommended to return and repurchase. I did that and the new one had the same issues. I returned the DA polisher. I am eager for a version 2 hopefully addressing these problems. Apart from that this polisher is better than even Flex DA polisher 110V for power ( for which i own ). One design improvement i ask of Milwaukee is to build in a ... MoreUsed to polish a 40' boat. One design improvement i ask of Milwaukee is to build in a lanyard ability for this since many times the act of polishing/waxing requires three hands and if there was a slot and long lanyard would increase the useability of the tool. I own alot of Milwaukee products and very pleased. The gnashing of gears on power down just concerns me this won't give me the longevity I have come to appreciate from Milwaukee tools. i hope for resolution to this in v2.

Low to mid polisher. Better out there for sure.
11 May 2024

I really wanted to like this polisher but it just is impossible. I have been detailing for over 20 years and I thought this would be a solid option since I own a lot of Milwaukee tools. However there is an Italian brand that is much better and more refined. The tool has lots of power so I can’t fault it on that. But overall the vibrations destroy you over a period of 6-8 hours of use. At times it felt as if the battery could dislodge from the machine. Not enough space to leave all details.

Milwaukee M18 15mm Random Orbital Polisher
18 January 2024

Just received the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 15mm Random Orbital Polisher as a Christmas gift and I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, I’m not a professional detailer but one thing I noticed is that the machine you can only use the 5” pads with it so my advice to Milwaukee is to bring out some smaller heads for it. I now have to hang onto my old Porter Cable electric one because you can put any head on it.I know the Milwaukee quality is the best in my opinion on the market because I’ve been using the M12 for many years and never had any problems.I’m new to the M18 but the machine looks to be well built and I expect nothing but good performance from it.Will try and do another review when I get a chance to use it maybe in the spring.

So long annoying cords! Hello fluid polishing!
21 November 2022

I picked up the 15mm and 21mm Random Orbit polishers and let me say this. They deliver! I’ve been detailing for nearly 20 years now and it’s time to ditch the cords. Are they as smooth as a Rupes as far as vibration, no but it’s close. This is Milwaukee’s first foray into random orbit and they did a pretty fantastic job. Do yourself a flavor and buy the kit with the 6.0 High output batteries. Depending on the job, I’m getting anywhere from 30 minutes to 80 minutes out of one battery. As always, keep one charged while using the other. Heck, buy a couple 8.0 batteries to pair them to this polisher. The ergonomics are spot on and the ease of using the speed dial is what we need as detailers. I highly recommend this polisher to anyone looking to rid there shop of cords. ... MoreI picked up the 15mm and 21mm Random Orbit polishers and let me say this. They deliver! Terrific Polisher

Milwaukee M18 FUEL18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 21MM DA Polisher (Tool-Only)This is one terrific polisher. There are so many things to like. First is its a Milwaukee. The engineering and design are what you would expect from Milwaukee. I have owned and used a number of orbital polishers and rotary buffers. This tool is better designed than any that I have used. Whenever you use one of these tools you always lay it down on its back to keep the polishing pad out of dirt and debris, the back of this tool has soft rubber pads that will prevent it from damaging surfaces and keep it from sliding. The trigger is large and easy to pull, there is a lock so you don’t have to continuously hold it, the trigger is also variable speed and the maximum speed can be set ... MoreMilwaukee M18 FUEL18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 21MM DA Polisher (Tool-Only)This is one terrific polisher. The trigger is large and easy to pull, there is a lock so you don’t have to continuously hold it, the trigger is also variable speed and the maximum speed can be set by the speed adjuster. The speed adjuster is perfect, it is placed on top of the tool, easy to reach with your thumb without releasing the tool, it is large and easy to rotate. It offers 8 different speeds. The battery sits in the tool sideways helping to prevent hitting the surfaces you are working on. The backing plate is 6 inches allowing it to use my current pads. This is a large tool, it is quite a bit longer than my current orbital tool, it is about the same size as my buffer. With a 5.0 amp battery it weighs about 7 lbs, almost two pounds more than my current tool but you don’t have to deal with the cord.I really like this polisher and look forward to many years of use.Pros:It’s a MilwaukeeTerrifically designedQuality toolCons:Weight

Well-designed polisher for your vehicle or other things if needed!
2 July 2022

I was looking for a cordless polisher for vehicle use but also for other things like tabletops or even a plexiglass window in a sand-blasting cabinet. This polisher excelled at both applications.First we used this buffer on my neighbors 2008 truck. He always has problems with streaking in the paint – very hard to remove without a ton of elbow grease. This tool was easy to work – it is pretty heavy due to the sturdy construction; but the balance is just right, which makes it easy to maneuver. The variable speed switch is also a plus – I could speed up the buffer for harder to smooth areas.Battery placement is sideways, which gives you a few more inches of space from the material when buffing. Removed the streak marks that normally take me more than a few minutes to buff – all in seconds.Softer pads with swirl remover polish also eliminates “spider marks” effectively.I then used it to polish the plexiglass window from my sand-blasting cabinet. The window had become crazed from normal use which made it difficult to see clearly. I used this tool to polish the window first with automotive scratch and swirl remover followed by 3000 grit sandpaper. I then followed with a coat of wax. The window is not like new but it is quite functional. Because I was less concerned about damage than when working on a car, I tried one-handed operation once the polisher was up to speed. This is useful when more aggressive polishing is required. The balance and location of the variable speed switch made this work well. This polisher fills the needs of a wide variety of applications. This is a top-of-the-line tool that I expect to last for years to come.
