This is not the most recent version as described online. It does not have the SanDisk software specified in the description. It does have a different (I think earlier) version of the software. I could still use it but I had to find instructions online. SanDisk seems to have a bad reputation in terms of updating its software. I have had SanDisk flash drives for many years and I still find the password protected software frustrating to install but okay to use. I have not had problems with updated software. It still does for me what I want it to do. Obtaining a SanDisk with the newer software was not worth the inconvenience of returning this one. It will probably make no difference to my usage of it. But it is something that you should be aware of.

Just want to clarify some of the comments made by quite a few reviewers for both this product and other storage products.1. This X brand USB company ripped me off because the actual capacity is less than the stated capacity. That's because flash drive and hard drive manufacturers show capacity using decimal whereas computers use binary so what the computer calculates is less than the what the manufacturer states. I still don't know why manufacturers do that since these devices are intended for use with computers BUT it's something ALL manufacturers do so no good bagging a particular brand for 'ripping you off'.2. The device is formatted for FAT32, not NTFS, so it can't handle large files. Why hasn't the stupid manufacturer pre-formatted the device for NTFS. Deceptive marketing. Even with the standard practice of using decimal values for storage capacity [ie 1,000,000 = 1 MB not binary) this is not a 64 GB drive. The drive reads as Capacity: 61,509,107,712 bytes = 57.2 GB. A true 64 GB drive should read like Capacity: 64,157,122,560 bytes = 59.7 GBThe Drives work - reformed them to NTFS so they can be used to store files over 4 GB. They are fine for most work. Not fast, but not really slow. They are useful for the price I paid,

A pretty solid performer; durable, reliable, and error-free. I have used it to back up several clients' systems. I use TeraCopy with verification when I copy or move files, and this drive has not failed. However, the slide that moves the case backwards on the USB stick is very annoying! Often I have to use my fingernail and some force to get the drive into the slot. I won't buy this type of stick again, but I will definitely consider SanDisk; I have been aware of them and/or using their products for 20+ years.
The SanDisk 128GB Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drive is an exceptional choice for those needing large storage with speedy data transfer. With USB 3.0, it offers impressive read and write speeds, making file transfers quick and efficient. The 128GB capacity is perfect for storing a vast amount of files, photos, and videos, while the sleek black design adds a professional touch. It’s compact and durable, making it easy to carry anywhere.Overall, I highly recommend this flash drive for anyone seeking reliable, high-capacity portable storage!
This thumb drive worked perfectly! But more importantly, it was used to backup the hard drive on my Mini-Mac, which had become tediously comber some & sluggish. I’d brought my Mini-Mac into the Geek Squad for consultation, and they recommended upgrading the hard drive, which I did for a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new Mini-Mac. Boy! What a difference! This thing is super fast. No delay in response time whatsoever, and it boots up almost immediately. I am a happy camper, and my wife is even happier, because she does all the bills and banking on this unit. Kudos to The Geek Squad for fixing/upgrading my equipment versus having me buy a new unit.
I wanted the camera-card type flash drive, but the store was sold out. So I chose this one, the SanDisk Ultra 512 GB. In fact, I purchased two of them because the price was so good. I use them for backing up my laptops. In the long-run, I have decided this is a better purchase, because it is more durable, and will last longer than the other type. I love my SanDisk brand in my computers! They are THE BEST! I also LOVE the friendly employees at our BEST BUY store!!! They are THE BEST also!
i got this usb drive to move my photos and videos, and it does the job. here what i found:advantages: • very fast, much quicker than old usb 2.0, i can transfer my movies in no time. • big storage space, 256GB is enough for all my files, so much room. • the password protection is good, i can keep my private stuff safe. • it is small and easy to carry, fits in my pocket without trouble.disadvantages: • sometimes the usb drive is a bit slow to start when i plug it in, not always fast. • it feels a bit plasticky, maybe not very durable, but okay for the price. • there was no clear instruction on how to use the encryption, took me a while to figure out.overall, this usb drive is very helpful for transferring big files quickly and it is nice to have so much space. ... Morei got this usb drive to move my photos and videos, and it does the job. here what i found:advantages: • very fast, much quicker than old usb 2.0, i can transfer my movies in no time. • there was no clear instruction on how to use the encryption, took me a while to figure out.overall, this usb drive is very helpful for transferring big files quickly and it is nice to have so much space. it’s not perfect, but good for the price.
