Thank you so much for threat. It is the exact color that I wanted and I can actually read my needle with this threat. Otherwise my husband has been threading it for me. So this is great that I can do it on my own. My eyes just aren't getting any bitter as I get older so it's really good to have your husband around. Thank you very much and God bless!... Show more

Best thread that I have tried!
I try to only use gutermann thread when making items to sell as it is some of the best thread I have tried. I have not had any problems with it breaking or becoming fuzzy like other brands that I have tried. The only complaint I have about this thread is that sometimes the white thread is all sold out when I go to buy more! I definitely recommend this thread!... Show more

Dirty
This is the 2nd time that I have ordered thread online from Joanns, and it's been dirty. Not just a little bit, A LOT! Also, I could see that the thread had been hand wound. I guess it's a way that they can unload their bad stock to the customers instead of damaging it out. It's kinda like going through the drive-through. You usually get stale cold fries, etc. Don't send dirty, damaged goods to the online customers just because you don't have to face them. I work on wedding gowns and need clean thread.... Show more

Excellent thread, terrible packaging for shipping
Excellent thread. I've been using this brand for over 30 years. However Joann's shipping is hideous. The thread is carelessly thrown into a mailing envelope which causes the thread to arrives all tangled. Looking at other reviews this seems to be a common issue with Joann's that they just don't seem to want to take care of. I can't directly notify Joanne's of what happened because there's no mechanism for that. Don't know that I'll be ordering online again. I'd rather spend my time selling than detangling brand new thread.... Show more

Extortionate price for a reel of thread!
This item has recently increased in price to more than £8 for 500m of polyester thread, an extortionate price for a quite ordinary thread. Instead of the 2 reels that i needed i left the shop with only one. Hobbycraft needs to consider their customers and the current cost of living crisis and search the market for an alternative manufacturer. This kind of price increase for sewing basics is untenable.... Show more

Good thread, with great reel design.
I bought the strong thread (on 30 metre reels). The fine thread is on 100 m reels. Once I got my head round this I could then order the correct thread for me. The listings aren't always that clear on this aspect. Choosing the correct colour is a bit hit and miss, as the listings sometimes list the colours by the Gutermann colour code ("000" is black!). Once I got the right thread and the right colour I was able to start my work. The thread seems to be good quality, with no lumps or weak patches, in my experience. My thread was strong enough and the colour was consistent. There were two areas which caused me slight problems, but these are probably common to all makes of thread. Firstly, sometimes there was a tendency for the thread to twist into loops as I pulled it ... MoreI bought the strong thread (on 30 metre reels). The fine thread is on 100 m reels. My thread was strong enough and the colour was consistent. There were two areas which caused me slight problems, but these are probably common to all makes of thread. Firstly, sometimes there was a tendency for the thread to twist into loops as I pulled it through, and secondly, the loose end tended to unravel slightly after many stitches. Full marks for the fantastic design of the reels, which had little locking tabs round the periphery at one end, which held the free end and stopped the thread unravelling off the reel. This is a much better system than found on cotton reels of old. The reels themselves are longer and of smaller diameter than traditional UK reels. I do not know if this is a problem for sewing machines, as I have not investigated this. Allin all, I think 5 stars is justified.... Show more

Needs a disc of felt to stop it spinning
The large reel of thread is significantly better value for money than the smaller versions, but it is too big for the standard felt disc that sits under the reel on top of a typical sewing machine. I never noticed that the felt disc stops the reel from continuing to spin when you stop sewing. Until I worked out what was happening and added a larger felt disc, the tension was getting messed up on my machine - either spinning and getting slack, or getting tangled under the reel and becoming much too tight. I asked a haberdashery assistant about using a larger reel on my machine before making the purchase and they didn't warn me about this issue, which could easily have been prevented. Possibly some training needed?... Show more

Ray of Sunshine
Bought this thread in the shade Goldenrod for use with tulle fabric. It's the perfect marigold shade. Sews very easily with minimal snapping/breakage (and that's probably more to do with my skill level vs the thread itself). Purchased twice - once via shipping to my house and the other online/pick up in store. Great experience both times. Will buy again.... Show more

Strong despite its size!!!
Don't be put off buying this thread because it's very fine. It's great, sews beautifully - bothe by hand and machine. Used it to sew a Memory Bear that had little sparkling embellishments on it. Absolutely no issues with it. Would definitely recommend it and would purchase it again.... Show more

Threads do matter
I always thought thread was thread, however in my advanced age I am finding that there is a lot of difference in threads. Especially when it comes to threading the sewing machine. Seems like the higher the quality the easier it is to thread not to mention that the quality of my stitches has improved. My seams are a lot smoother and consistent. Who knew.... Show more
