Alright, but covered in oil and pungent.

Bought a pair of 40s recently. So far, they seem like decent weights; however, they came covered in a yellow oil or liquid that smells like concentrated cigar smoke. The oil/liquid stained several surfaces it came in contact with and the smell is something to behold. Hoping the oil/smell fade in time. I am not sure that I would other weights from this set.

Awful Smell, Otherwise Good

These have a terrible cheap rubber smell, I get light-headed using them due to the smell. I'm hoping the smell will go away in a few months and I can start using them, if not they'll just be a total waste of money. I would return them if I hadn't thrown away the packaging already.Aside from the smell, the build quality looks immaculate. The smell is a big let-down for an otherwise great set of weights. Cheap rubber smell is completely avoidable, it's just a sign of a cheap manufacturing process. The fumes are in fact toxic, which is why I'm giving such a low rating to an otherwise perfectly-built set of dumbells. Next time I will go with the Rogue urethane dumbells, since I have heard they don't have the cheap rubber smell.

Why did I pay a premium for this junk? They are covered in a filthy grease that smells very strong and gave me a headache just being in the same room for more than a few minutes. Kept them outside for a week and they still smell very strong.I have a 3 year and do not want to risk VOC's harming her health. So I asked for the material safety data sheet (MSDS) and was told that:"Bumper plates and dumbbells are consumer goods and their composition is below any criteria for classification as hazardous, hence we do not have MSDS sheet for them."They might be durable. But honestly which dumbbells aren't? Should have just stuck with cheap Decathlon stuff, at least those aren't covered in grease and don't smell nearly as strong. High Quality Dumbbells
1 November 2024

I previously bought 70 lb hex dumbbells from Cap Barbell which I liked, but when I bought heavier ones, they fell apart. The metal handle appeared to just be glued into the weights and not threaded, so the weights came off. Those also had a softer rubber which gradually got cracks and chips and wore down to the point it could've made the weight significantly lighter. To get a higher quality product, I invested in these 80 lb hex dumbbells from Rogue. The rubber is harder and less prone to damage, and the weights are holding together. There was a slight greasy film when the weights arrived, but it wasn't enough for me to need to wipe it off. The offgassing was not noticeable either, and the rubber does not leave much residue on towels. I also like the curved nature of the handle, because it makes it easier to hold the weight between my legs with a towel when I do dips without the weight falling. I saw some dumbbells from another company which had texture across the entire handle area, but I knew it wouldn't give me the grip I needed without the slight bulge in the middle for an easier grip. I did drop one from about a height of 6 inches one time, and neither the weight or my floor was damaged.

Look good. Fast shipping. Would recommend.

Solid. Look good. Arrived fast….but I really do hope Rogue hears me when I say I’d love a USA version of these. I believe they used to offer that, but I didn’t see one available during q1 2024. These are pretty great though, I’ve dropped them, used the 30 lb for light farmer carries, and also as a door stop haha. They look good and I’d recommend. With the shipping these can be more expensive than the local stores, but so far the quality is good.

Poor Quality 55s
13 March 2023

I waited awhile to review these as we bought these as part of a big order from Rogue at Christmas; my wife and I built a garage gym as our Christmas gift to each other and it’s taken awhile to get everything cleared out and set up. We’re pretty happy with most of the equipment, but the pair of 55 pound dumbbells looked like trash as soon as we pulled them out of the box. All other dumbbells, bumper plates, barbell, power rack was in good condition, but the 55s look much worse than everything else. The rubber looks almost like it was damaged/gouged and then filled back in and the handle already had some surface rust. All of the other equipment we bought was in good condition and lived up to the Rogue reputation. Unfortunately, the 55s did not.

Quality as expected but there are issues
2 May 2023

I've had a collection of different dumbbells from over the years and had just gotten whatever was available from Target or whatever. So when I decided to be more intentional about doing strength training, I decided I wanted high-quality dumbbells, so I did a lot of looking around. Rogue seemed to have the right combination of quality and reputation. When I looked into other recommended companies, I saw countless complaints about off-gassing and saw fewer of those with Rogue. Despite the overall cost, I went with Rogue (other retailers have slightly higher-priced weights but offer free shipping; Rogue's shipping costs are annoyingly high. The quality of the dumbbells is excellent as expected, and I enjoy working out with them. But weeks later they are not free of the smell despite washing them. It's not headache-inducing, just noticeable enough to be annoying since they have to live in my living room closet. The real mark down from five stars to four is the absolute lack of caring from the customer support rep when I inquired about promo codes I had found online but didn't see a place to use them in Rogue's checkout (which it turns out, there wasn't; odd given that the codes seemed valid, but whatever). Not a single ounce of empathy from this person when I noted that Rogue's shipping prices are kind of extreme compared to other retailers. I can acknowledge that there was nothing the CSR could actually do for me, but exhibiting an ounce of care would have made me at least feel the company understood where I was coming from. That same week I had a need for customer service from another premium vendor, who bent over backwards to get an issue right. I was already annoyed by Rogue's customer service, but this other company's commitment to happy customers really made Rogue look even worse in comparison.I might still buy more weights from Rogue because I do like the product, but I'm disappointed in the company itself based on this experience. It's not how I do customer service for my own clients.

Rogue Dumbbells
14 February 2024

Dumbbells are nice but arrived covered with some type of oil that after several attempts Rogue has not identified for me. This oil took hours to wipe off of the dumbbells, and the dumbbells are still leaving black marks on any surface they come in contact with. The additional dumbbells I need will not be purchased from Rogue. Also, there was no delivery notification for my Rogue equipment. The driver was going to leave about 1000 pounds of new equipment on the side walk in the rain if I didn’t hear him unloading the truck!!!

What to do against the smell
22 July 2024

People complain a lot about the smell. I agree that fresh out of the box they do smell. But i took a cloth, but a bit of Dishwashing liquid and warm water on it and wiped the dumbbells with this a few times. The cloth becomes dirty and i would advice to wash the cloth in between wipes until the cloth is not becoming dirty anymore. Repeat the process after a few days. I think the smell might primarily come from a residue that is used as anti-adhesive agent in the mold.I did this on my second delivery and it dramatically cut the smelly time.Other than the smell, I think this is a solid product! I got many from 2.5 kg to 12.5 kg and the quality is what I would expectI hope this helps!Best, Lukas

Working it with ROGUE

Hello ROGUEI was never interested in pushing the Iron untill I discovered your product. I have always execised and have been into running all my life. It was a thing of not ever being dependant on external equipment for maintaing my muscle tone and strength. Boy, has your product changed my mind. You made it easy right from the start with the look of your merchandise. I have been at it pratically every day since May and I have not shown any interest in slowing down or falling inot disuse.
