Kids love the look of the Relic 24", with its disc brakes, 1x Shimano gears and front suspension. The bike performs just as well as it looks, too, with quality components throughout; from the threadless headset (the same type that is used on all "proper" bikes), to the alloy brake levers, rather than plastic, to provide our little riders with the control and confidence they need to nurture a love of riding bikes. Relic 24 features a strong, lightweight aluminium frame, a simple Shimano 8-speed drivetrain that's easy for kids to handle and a front suspension fork with 60 mm of to absorb any trail imperfection. The mechanical front and rear disc brakes give Relic 24 extra control for more advanced trails and conditions.

Bike is ok but needed a lot of adjusting

My daughter likes the bike but my husband had to do a lot of work on it to get it operational. More work than what we expected for a new bike. The chain was stuck between the frame and gear and scratched the bike when he got it out (probably should have removed chain instead). The brakes needed a lot of adjustment. The handle bars were crooked and seem to be built unevenly. The shifting didn't go to some of the gears and needed a lot of adjustment. The shifting is difficult and stiff and hard for a child to operate. If I had to do over again, I would have bought a bike at a ****'s or REI instead to get one that worked properly. Or buy a used one where we expected to have to do work on it. It isn't what we expected for a new bike.

We bought this bike for my daughter’s 8th birthday. She’s always had box store bikes that were heavy and cumbersome. She struggled to ride for very long at a time. She immediately loved this one. The light weight had us doing double our normal ride on the first trip. She likes having a bike with gears and a he loves the colors too. The price was great, purchase was easy and the assembly was simple. It was a great purchase and when we purchase another, we will definitely be looking at Polygon for the next one.

Great ride, but needs better factory setup!

Bought the charcoal/red/yellow coloured bicycle for my 8 year old daughter, she absolutely loves it! Every time she rides it, she gets a massive smile on her face! She is now able to keep up with me on our frequent rides in the neighbourhood!Positives:Biggest plus is, it is one of the lightest children bikes available! Definitely a plus for learning and also lifting onto roof racks!Reasonably fast rolling tyres, balanced with grip and comfort.Decent brakes and adequate gearing for this type of bicycle.Super fast delivery! Effectively arrived the very next day!Not so positives, but easily rectified by handy person or LBS. Claimed to be 'nearly' fully built, but I would have to disagree as it took me a few hours to get everything going smoothly.Main ... MoreBought the charcoal/red/yellow coloured bicycle for my 8 year old daughter, she absolutely loves it! Effectively very unsafe to ride if I were to only do up the handle bar and stem from the box!Headset bearings and housing were bone dry! I mean, there is 0 grease!Wheels were not true and had pretty dramatic wobbles, which also meant constant brake pad rub.The derailleur set up is probably my biggest complaint - from factory, it simply does not work; I have not seen a factory set up where the jockey wheel slams straight into the cassette (I have not seen this happen even in a Kmart bike)! Took me a bit of head scratching to realise, the derailleur does not have a B Screw, and the height is determined by the final cable housing. With a bit of trial and error in shorting the housing, and redoing the limit screws, the bike now shifts perfectly! With the above rectified, tyres pumped up, major bolts re-torqued and seat post height adjusted, I have to say, the bicycle is very decent and worth the price! Potential buyers, please factor in potential costs at LBS for set up when purchasing!

Great value for a kids trail bike!
20 October 2023

I wanted my kids to explore trails for the first time with a bike that could comfortably handle moderate terrain, without breaking the bank. The 2023 Polygon Premier XC Kids Bike's is perfect! The shipping across the United States was pricey - but even with shipping factored in, these were the right bikes, at a competitive price. The bikes were packed for shipping very well, and despite the boxes showing signs of a rough trip - the bikes were undamaged. The kids are thrilled with their new bikes, and their first off-road experience was great. The sizing tool was great and we got the right sizes on the first try. I will be looking at Bikesonline first the next time we have a need!

Lightweight
17 January 2023

Our kiddo is learning to ride on this bike. She does not yet have the confidence to take turns on the bike, so she gets off to physically turn the bike around. we have noticed that because the bike is lightweight she is able to manipulate the bike, picking it up, turning it, etc. in a way that facilitates her independent use of the bike. Previously, we had only use cheaper, heavy bikes, which would be much more cumbersome for our small child to manipulate. Having gears has also facilitated her learning since we can set the bike to a gear which helps her get up the slight slope where we practice. Quality bike!

Overall it’s pretty good. It’s clean and looks good but with some flaws. Both wheels are NOT true. This is very unfortunate! . They wobble back and forth . Warped rims? This makes the v brakes rub so I spent most of tonight on you tube and adjusting v brakes to allow for more space due to the warped wheels. Some brakes were rubbing on tires so had to adjust to fit on rim and let out slack as they were too tight. Not a deal breaker. Now the detailed was a mess. You click 1-4 and the detailed doesn’t move. At 5 it finally goes into next gear making this a 3 speed . Back to you tube again. Now it’s 1 am and I’m still working on this bike. Learned a lot and basically now know hot to tune up my own bike by taking up the cable slack, setting the H and L settings and ... MoreOverall it’s pretty good. Learned a lot and basically now know hot to tune up my own bike by taking up the cable slack, setting the H and L settings and adjusting the knob you turn clockwise going into the derailer . Now it’s ready to ride with the exception of the untrue wheels. That’s a real bummer as they totally wobble. I’d love to swap out these tires and rims for replacements.please Send me some new ones and I’ll send you these. . I can also post a video of these factory wobbly wheels . Also the rear cassett is not totally straight but I notice it but doesn’t really affect performance. So that’s my review .nice bike but like anything it’s all in the details . Non biker would just take it to a shop or not notice the wheels.

Jonathon,The Polygon bike bought our 9 year old for Christmas has been great! It didn’t need any significant adjustments. It was pretty much, put together and go! My son has been using it to get to the neighborhood near us to play with his buddies. The smile on his face while he’s zipping around lets us know of the enjoyment he has on his ride.Unfortunately he left it in the circle drive and when Amazon came to deliver a package, they ran smack over it and bent the frame to an irreparable state.Do you guys have any replacement frames or refurbished bikes at your warehouse you’d consider selling? Purchased for my 7yo Niece in Texas
20 January 2023

I purchased this bike online for my 7yo niece that lives in Texas. I never saw the bike in person but the pictures from my brother upon delivery showed good packaging and a simple assembly process. After assembly my brother sent me videos of my niece trying out the bike. She appeared to enjoy it very much. Now at 7yo and 49" tall she is just big enough for a 24" bike, so I am sure it will get more comfortable as she grows into it. What originally sold me on this Polygon bike over similar options was Polygon's approach to design that helps to make bike riding easier for beginners.

Got it on sale for much cheaper than big brands (Trek, Giant, Specialized etc) since my 6-year-old doesn't much care about labels yet. Heard about Polygon in MTB Action Mag and decided to give it a go. After ordering, I googled "Bikesonline reviews" and saw countless bad reviews for shipping delays and inventory problems. I must have been one of the lucky ones because my order shipped right away and was received four days later without issue. Good status updates via email on the progress of the order. Assembly is easy for a bike enthusiast. The manual is generic but there is a video online specifically for the Premier 20 that helps clarify assembly. No broken parts in the kit I received. No scratches or dents. Component spec is appropriate for what you pay and robust enough to be abused by kiddos. The kickstand is burley. The derailleur even has a bash guard around it. The only deficit I found was that the wheels were not completely true as both had a slight wobble. Not a big deal and won't effect performance or safety...just a QA thing. There are several details that the manual and video doesn't address that might prevent someone that doesn't have bike-building knowledge from finishing the build safely: 1) V-Brake return spring adjustment (to center the calipers on the rim) 2) Proper position of the brake shoe when it contacts the rim 3) Adjusting the brake levers for proper finger placement 4) Adjusting the "reach" of the lever for smaller hands 5) And probably the biggest challenge for some: adjusting the rear derailleur (high & low setting + proper cable tension etc.) Overall, a nice kit and one that my kid will love to ride. If you're hesitant about building the bike yourself, I suggest taking it to your local shop and have them set it up right. I guess that kind of defeats the purpose of taking out the middle-man though, huh? Either that or phone a friend. Enjoy the ride!

So far, so good.

The bummer of getting new bikes for Christmas when you live in the Northeast, is that it’s not really ideal riding weather. But the few rides my kids have taken so far have been very good. They are loving their new bikes. We bought two of the same model of bike, a black/red and a blue/orange. Although they both look great, I must say the blue color, which I would label as a sort of electric blue, is really intense and vibrant in the best possible way. The blue is awesome. The bikes were easy to assemble, and the tools were of course included. The instructions for assembly were just ok. The only issue is that they try to cover assembly instructions for multiple bike models using only one guide. So only some of the instructions are relevant, and you have to sort of ... MoreThe bummer of getting new bikes for Christmas when you live in the Northeast, is that it’s not really ideal riding weather.
