Delivery was fantastic, I actually couldn't believe they were able to pull it off in such a short time in amidst the chaos of the Coronavirus - but they did! 3 hours is all it took!In terms of putting it together, it was relatively straight forward. Some parts of the wood could have done with being a little better finished as I could have gotten a splinter if not for being careful. Additionally I felt that a lot of people wouldn't tighten the knobs enough when putting the couch together, as when putting it together with my sister I had to go over the things she'd tightened to give it that extra half turn - something that could be done by her if she had a small tool that provided the right amount of leverage. It was very simple though, only looked quickly at the instructions once to ensure each section was put together in the right order. In terms of comfort, it's quite good. I personally prefer a couch that's a little softer that you sink in to and can fall asleep on within 2 minutes, but my sister loves them because they are both soft and firm and provide you with a reasonable amount of support. That said, it would be nice for the back cushion to be a little higher to provide some neck/head support. The fabric itself is okay... my sister and I both agreed it could be softer and less scratchy - but we do have quite sensitive skin which does affect our judgement. After 2 weeks though, we are getting used to the fabric.Overall for the price, delivery, and simplicity of putting it together, I would give this couch a 4.5/5 - which rounds up to 5!

Purchased just after Christmas - 2 x 3 seaters and the ottoman. Arrived same day and we are outside metro Brisbane so very impressive. Took a little longer to put together than the YouTube video but still not bad. Very comfortable from the get go and a week later no complaints. If I had a gripe it would be that when I first looked at the sofas while ago, I’m certain that there was information on the Koala website that talked about the frame being welded steel - welded in Vietnam and assembled here. These current sofas have a steel base (?) and timber arms and back so I am concerned about the durability. Secondly, the original marketing talked about the whole covers being removable for washing and the current information appears to say the opposite. I have attached photos of the relevant conversations. So whilst the sofa looks the part and is good a week in, three of the reasons for my purchase - welded steel frame, at least partially made in Australia and completely removable covers don’t appear to exist any more. I’ll give the sofa 4 stars because it appears to be a good product but I do have concerns over the durability and country of origin - China.

4.5 stars for the sofa, 3 stars for the experience and some of the finer overlooked qualities.I have been an old Koala customer, I have 3 Koala king mattresses and 2 pillows. Why 3.5? Well, the sofa came in neat boxes, thats good. It wasnt easy opening the sofa pieces, had to cut the boxes, cut the tapes, which itself was a struggle, wish the boxes are hassle free boxes that can be easily opened. What i didnt like was the flimsy sofa stitching, there wasnt any. The cloth was stapled to the frame of the sofa. I almost tore an end when trying to lift an end because of the stapled end. I didnt expect Koala to build it this way, thought would be better, an actual stitching. Probably its cheaper to do it and margins are high? Less labour? Less materials? I struggled probably because it was just me doing it, the knobs were easy and once in place, was able to do it quickly. The sofa itself is really good, its really comfortable. It has that perfect balance of hard vs soft that makes it a comfortable sit. What I didnt like was the chemical fumes from the sofa. it’s horrible. Its given me a constant headache and my throat is burning, do not know how long it will last. Hope it goes away soon, another thing I didnt expect from Koala.

I bought my Lounging Sofa almost 6 months ago, and I'm very happy with this purchase. Assembling the couch was so easy that I was already thinking how easy it would be to disassemble if I do move. One of the things I notice now that I am almost six months in, is that there is little pilling starting to appear, however it's not bad just very minimal. The lounge is still very comfy, but I sometimes wonder how long the actual main sitting foam will last or will it deteriorate, but this will be sorted if the foam is available to purchase in case this happens.Overall I gave this Lounging Sofa a 4 out of 5 partly because I needed to use a square pillow to support my back, and when I didn't have the pillows the back pillowthat came with the lounge did no support my back ... MoreI bought my Lounging Sofa almost 6 months ago, and I'm very happy with this purchase. And by saying this it is not a deal breaker for me.Also my sofa had really good comments, whenever my nieces and nephews are over, they would tell me how much they love it and how comfortable it is. I have also been suggesting the Koala Lounging Sofa whenever somebody talks about couches, or when someone is thinking of getting a new sofa.I really hope that my couch will keep me happy for a long time!Thank you Koala!
Bought a 3+2+Otoman recently. Delivery was quick I.e. 2-3 days and assembly also easier, not like those IKEA stuff but rest was shocking. Cushions were much smaller and lacks the hard sponge support. Same with the seatrest also which feels too thin once you sit it sinks with almost no firmness. Backrest angle and lack firm back support makes it uncomfortable. Fabric also looks cheaper without any lustre even our old IKEA 200$ armchair has better fabric than this. It’s not what you could visualize in their website. I had tried Fanastic Hampton & it was super comfy but unfortunately their delivery timelines are 6-8 weeks so we thought to go for this. But it’s ‘totally uncomfortable’ sofa, already giving me back pain. Will contact them for refund or some other type ... MoreBought a 3+2+Otoman recently. My son loved their soft toys like Koala last time and two turtles this time. All good but lounge sofa are not we expected and not at all comfortable. Better go to a real shop ( Amart, fantastic, plush anywhere) sit & try it before booking the order.
I purchased the 3 seater Koala Sofa around about 2 years ago. At the time, it was great, delivery was fast, convenient, and set up was easy. The couch seemed comfortable in the first few months and I thought, I could really have this couch forever. But quickly I started to notice problems.First off, the long cushion slides forward quite a bit just from sitting on it. It does not stay in place. This creates an uncomfortable seating position and you have to constantly push it back in place. I've never had more back problems in my life than since getting this couch.Second, while its advertised as washable, have you ever tried to wash the covers and put the cover back on the cushion? Its almost impossible without ruining the sponge. The covers themselves also do not ... MoreI purchased the 3 seater Koala Sofa around about 2 years ago. Its almost impossible without ruining the sponge. The covers themselves also do not age well. Any sunlight will fade the fabric quite quick. There is no way this couch will last a lifetime. Just NO WAY! ANd we don't even have any pets or children!Third, the design of the couch is a little flawed. similar to the first point, but if you were to sit on it like a chair, your back would be no where near the support. If you sit back near the support cushion, your knees don't make the end of cushion (and I'm 5'11). Again, back problems. The fact that Koala have now rereleased a 'new and improved' version makes me suspect that Koala were aware of these problems and tried to fix them. I can't comment on the new couch, but very disappointed in the Koala couch that I got. I WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN. I was seriously interested in the Sofa Bed but now I just can't commit to it knowing what I know now. How many of these reviews are written after having the products for more than a few months? I wonder.
It is not at all what I expected.I bought this koala sofa to match my koala sofa that I already have.If there was a memo that you completely changed the interior structure of the sofa AND the colour AND the washable covers, I didn’t get it.I bought this sofa for 3 main reasons, wash-ability, match-ability and move-ability. And this sofa didn’t meet any of these because it’s not the sofa I was expecting.I wanted to be able to machine wash the covers (we have small children).I wanted it to match the koala sofa I had bought a few years ago (it’s a different colour)And I really really wanted it to be easy to move from house to house because we are renting (it now has a completely different construction design that does not work well for me)It looks the same and ... MoreIt is not at all what I expected.I bought this koala sofa to match my koala sofa that I already have.If there was a memo that you completely changed the interior structure of the sofa AND the colour AND the washable covers, I didn’t get it.I bought this sofa for 3 main reasons, wash-ability, match-ability and move-ability. You need to give people some kind of warning that EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED!It’s a lovely sofa, but it’s not what I was trying to buy and it’s not what I was expecting. Had I known about these changes, I would have saved myself a lot of effort and money and bought a second hand koala sofa (that’s actually like my first one). Before this koala sofa arrived we threw out our old brown sofa and I ordered special cushions that would match the midnight blue sofa.I saved for for this sofa and now that we have it, and we got rid of our old brown couch and I spent the effort of putting it together I don’t feel like I can send it back.
Honestly this is a great lounge. I looked at four brand name furniture shops and could not find a lounge that was comfortable and within my price point. I had seen Koala online but was sceptical of buying something I hadn't seen in person. After being frustrated for weeks, I decided to give it a go and am really happy with my purchase. The lounge is stylish, has deep seats and is comfortable. We are a family of bigger people and I was worried that the lounge would not comfortably sit our family, but it does. We could easily fit three larger adults on this lounge with everyone having space. I really like that the lounge cushion is all in one piece as this is comfortable to lay down on. A mate of ours also christened it by staying the night and he had no complaints. ... MoreHonestly this is a great lounge. We had it the day after I ordered it, in time for the first Friday since COVID where we could have our friends over. Koala also give you time to test out the lounge (120 days) and will refund it if you are unhappy. I'm very happy and am thinking about purchasing a mattress for our spare room from them too.
Delivery super fast, assembly was easy to do with minimal help. The piece that goes on the front base didn't slot in properly because the metal tabs were a few millimetres apart-- a huge error. I'd heard bad reviews about replacement parts, and this flawed section, which is in the middle of the sofa, still looked okay and was rather sturdy so I didn't bother seeking a replacement. The fabric though felt awful and rather cheap and plasticky and I wondered what on earth I'd done. But it grew on me because the sofa is so comfortable, I also took off the back cushions one night to use it as a single bed and slept fine. There's a bar right in the middle so don't suddenly plop yourself down!I love it now. Lots of room for the kids and their friends to hang out, or for me ... MoreDelivery super fast, assembly was easy to do with minimal help. I've had my Koala sofa for just under a year now, and I've gotta say, I'm not at all impressed.Firstly, yes, assembly is quick, it's easy and delivery is obviously SUPER quick. Bravo for that! The sofa is pretty comfortable, and a few house guests have slept on it and have absolutely loved it. The base is the perfect size for a single mattress protector and sheets for sleeping, which is very convenient. So why the low rating? Because the upholstery is absolute garbage. My $1200, 11 month old sofa looks like a ratty piece of trash that's spent 10 years in a student party house, which is frankly just embarrassing. I've painstakingly shaved the fabric on multiple occasions, I've followed all the care instructions to a T but no no avail. I've painstakingly shaved the fabric on multiple occasions, I've followed all the care instructions to a T but no no avail. It just looks like trash.I recently emailed customer service and the first person I heard from said: "I can see that you have our Version 1 sofa. We have since made better upgrades to the sofa. Pilling included. Please fill out the form below and request an upgrade free of charge ;)". Awesome, I thought! I filled in the form, took photos and waited... the reply I got (from a different customer service representative) said "Our team are monitoring this closely, however at this stage, pilling only occurs for a total of 4% of our customers and as it can be difficult for us to monitor how our customers behave with their furniture and the different environments (i.e. kids, dogs, etc), we're unable to pinpoint exactly why this happens for some customers and not others. We usually would send you a fabric shaver from Koala HQ, but we're currently out of stock of the items at the moment. However, I'd absolutely love to offer you a refund of $20 so you're able to go out and grab yourself a little fabric shaving tool so anytime you notice the pilling you can just zip it over your sofa plus a little extra so you can grab a coffee on us for having to duck out. This can also be purchased online.".So in under 24 hours, I essentially went from being happy that Koala had recognised the issue with the pilling (and obviously other issues with the sofa that I'm yet to encounter) and were offering me a replacement to being offered $20 for a fabric shaver and a cup of coffee. What on earth? As I mentioned in my emails I ALREADY OWN A FABRIC SHAVER and have to use it on this couch frequently.I'm really angry, and if you've just bought yourself one, I implore you to send it back during the trial period, because this sofa ain't worth the $$ at all!
