I first saw this movie in Jakarta Indonesia at a cinema, wow, great to finally get my hands on the DVD at long last. Just a fantastic movie. A very manly flick he he, lots of blood and gore but is based on actual historical events. A real story to it also which made it so much better. Top notch, go and see it.

Zack Snyder's film "300" about the 300 spartan soldiers who faced the warring Persian empire is the film which essentially commenced the "genre" of Hollywood making feature films from dark graphic novels. In this regard, "300" is an impressive film; however on the down-side the film suffers an over use of computer generated graphics which often detracts from the seriousness of the story. Nonetheless, "300" stars Gerard Butler, Lena Headley and Australian David Wenham. For all of its faults, the film contains some memorable scenes and lines from Gerard Butler: "Spartans, tonight we dine in h*ll!" and the memorable "Madness? THIS IS SPARTA!". If you can suspend the disbelief of the CGI, you can actually "enjoy" this film, but don't take it too seriously. Great movie. Lots of blood, gore, violence, horror and action. All the good things I like
