Doesn't work unless you're at a sharp angle

I tried this both sides. If you're standing to one side or the other it does obscure the screen but if you're standing directly in front of the monitor, even if you're 8 ft away, you can still see the monitor very clearly. The idea was that someone should not be able to stand behind me and see my screen. This doesn't work for that at all. Plus it arrived damaged. I'm returning.

I am not sure why there are many one star reviews about this privacy filter. For me, it seems to work pretty much as advertised, as far as effectively blocking out the view from the sides. Naturally, the filter won’t provide much privacy if someone is staring at the screen directly behind the user. However, if the filter was this effective as to block out the snooping eyes directly from behind, then the user would also be prevented from seeing the screen. For those that like their screen extremely bright and already have the brightness all the way up, there may be some initial adjustment. -The filter is mildly reflective, so if there is a light source close to the monitor there is potential for glare. This can be fixed by reversing the filter from the glossy side to the matted one. -My biggest issue with this filter is the price. $85 for a 22” seems rather outrageous. Although to be fair, competitor products are only a little bit less expensive. Granted, I don’t know the cost of materials and manufacturing involved in making this item, but the price still seems much higher than common sense would dictate, so I suspect there is some “profit maximization” going on as a result of patents. All in all, it’s a good product that works as described, however due to high price I simply can’t give it five stars.

I mean, holy moly, over a hundred dollars for these things. Yeowch. But hey, they work perfect, the adhesive strips are nice and invisible, and the screen is mostly easy to see as long as you're right in front of it. Keep in mind, for those of you (like me) that have ultrawide screens that are NOT curved, these things work so well that, when sitting right in front of the monitor, the edges to either side of you tend to be far enough away that the picture dims considerably at those edges. The closer you sit to the monitor, the worse this gets. These things REALLY hide your screen. For that I am grateful. Highly recommended, but wow, can we please talk about the price? Ugh.

I used this on an HP Compaq LA2205wg screen and it fit PERFECTLY. There are 2 sides to this filter (which doesn't stick on the actual screen), one glossy and one matte. I used the matte side to face me, and from a distance the screen looks completely black. At closer proximity to the computer monitor, things are visible and if someone's standing directly behind, the screen is clearly visible. However, it has immensely increased the level of privacy and I can work happily knowing that no one's watching me from behind. The filter can be lifted for cleaning and the see through stickers that you attach to the screen are to help keep it put. Even without the stickers, the filter will stay put. Buy it, it's totally worth it, although HIGHLY priced.

My experience with privacy screens has not been great, but these are incredible! My desk is in a high traffic area, and my coworkers were constantly commenting on the contents of my screen. I work in an academic office, so students would regularly lean over my desk to try to look at calendars. These screens create a black-out effect at about a 30 degree angle, but do not obstruct my view as the user at all. I DID have to increase my screen brightness/contrast, but I couldn't be happier with these. Some even commented that they thought my monitors were turned off! YAY privacy!

24 inch wide privacy screen did not fully cover my 24 inch monitor (left about an inch of exposed screen on each side with an overlapping excess of an inch on top). The 'slots' and the sticky strips failed to work---even after cleaning the intended areas of use on the monitor & screen. Eventually had to use common scotch tape to apply the screen to the monitor. The screen doesn't do a good job providing "privacy" to my monitor unless the person is standing at an extreme angle in respects to my monitor--otherwise my monitor is "clear as day" to the average person passing by. the best thing this screen does do is reduce the glare on my monitor. Over all, just an overpriced sheet of smoke screen. Would not buy this again.

Privacy? I think not...

Pros: Well made. Resists fingerprints on matte side. Great anti-glare surface. Perfect fit for an HP zr2440w.Cons: Doesn't really provide any additional privacy. You almost have to be at a 90 degree angle to get any real benefit. People can see that I have a web site, or a document up on the screen and even standing up behind me can read what is on the screen. I was expecting a privacy filter, not an anti-glare filter. Oh well...

Screen or not to screen
24 March 2023

March 2023 I ordered this for my work pc, its stops people looking at the emails when they are standing from the side of the computer but the actual product screen cover does not obscure the pc screen totally. I have a glass panel behind my desk and the screen reflection can still be seen on the glass behind me of my pc. This was not really useful for me, plus I never measured the cover, should have purchased the 23inch as slightly large.

Works well if you install it correctly.

The privacy filter has both a glare and non-glare slide, so if you want a "non-glare" you have to look before you install it that the non-glare side is facing out (towards you). You should clean the screen that is going to be mounted to, don't want to tap any dust in between the two layers and also the adhesive strips will hold better. I have found that the double sided adhesive strips work the best, they are very clear and barely noticeable. Easy to install, just peal the blue cellophane off of the clear plastic backing, the adhesive strip will stick to the blue cellophane, you can see a faint outline of the adhesive strip on the blue cellophane. Press at least one strip on each of the sides, as close to the edge of the screen protector. Press at least one strip on each of the sides, as close to the edge of the screen protector. If you press them from left to right (or right to left) you should be able to install the strip so there are not air bubbles trapped, making less noticeable when applied to the screen. Once you have them installed, peel off the blue cellophane, the clear mounting strips are left behind on the privacy filter. With your monitor turned, something that has a white background like a word document or web browser, you can see where the edges of the filter need to cover. Take you time lining in up and then when ready just press the filter on. Do not need to use a lot of pressure but I just ran my finger over top of where the adhesive strips were to make sure they were on and hopefully no air bubbles. The optional tabs do not hold the privacy filter very tight against the screen and they just do not seem to work very well. I have had mine in place for about a year now and the adhesive strips work just fine.
