Came in 3M box, seems legit to me. Works great for my woodworking. Use this as the final finish in a lot of my woodworking. It's really efficient, leaves a smooth finish, and doesn't get clogged up like sandpaper does. It does wear away while working, but with an entire box I don't have to worry about that. I cut the squares into quite a bit smaller pieces as well, and I also gave half the box to my brother. We're both finding plenty of handy uses. Works great on metal according to my brother, he used it to help clean up some rusty old hand saws at our parents place. It can generate a fair amount of dust.

Have to love 3M products. These are great for refinishing, light abrasive use when steel wool is a tad too rough. They are large, and can be cut down to size if needed, and so far have found tons of uses for them in and around my shop.

Here is the skinny. If you have any scratches on your Stainless Appliances the Grey pad is the conventional grain (scratch pattern) that manufacturers use for the finish. The Grey Pad wrapped on a wood block or sanding block and one-way sanding (not back-and-forth) will make it look like new (i.e. take out the scratches). Look it up on YouTube. Good Luck !

I build musical instruments and use both these and the slightly rougher maroon pads in finishing. I like these for applying wax after the last coat of finish and the maroon ones for lightly scuffing each coat of four coats finish for a smooth result
It may interest you to know that Amazon has begun shipping a cheap chinese imitation of the 3M product #07448. It is flimsly, performs poorly and wears out before the first job is finished. The cheap Amazon product doesn't even ship in the correct 3M box. Amazon ships the product in a white plastic sac. On the sack there is a white paper label proclaiming the product to be a "Scotch-brite.. 7448 set of 20"..Thank you TCP Global for shipping the genuine 3M product. It performs admirably and is durable as expected.
The Ultra fine grade pads are what you need for a " brushed finish" look. I use them on aluminum tubing that i put on a lathe and the brushed finish appears in a minute or two. The white pads are the finest grade and will polish aluminum to a chrome-like appearance, but if you're starting with slightly scratched metal these will remove the small scratches quicker.
The real McCoy. All scotchbrite pads not made by 3M are worthless chinese garbage. You need to buy them by the case, direct from Home Essentials Direct, if you want real 3M.
These are very sturdy. They worked great for gentle buffing around the edges of the burners on my stainless steel gas range. I'm really particular about keeping my range as scratch-free as possible, while I would not use any scrubbing pad at all on the main area of my range, these ultra-fine pads did a very nice job of quickly eliminating those little black, burned-on spots that build up over time and are difficult to remove, even with products like Bon Ami. In addition, these do not have that odd, offensive chemical smell that some other brands of scrubbing pads have. I also cut these up and use them as inserts in reptile feeders such as Fluker's 16 oz Repta Waterer so that the crickets I breed won't fall in and die.They work great!
These pads and a YouTube video allowed me to perfectly repair some unsightly scratches to the slide of my brushed Stainless Steel Colt Commander pistol in such a way that you can't tell they were ever there. I've subsequently used this material to remove scratches from several well-used stainless steel firearms using only light pressure. It is just the right grit to match the factory finish on brushed, NOT polished stainless steel. Just be careful and take your time. This is maybe the best $20 I've ever spent. The only problem is that is quite a lot of the product in this box and I'll never use it all.
Well, if you use it properly, softly and slowly, it will do a very good job on removing oils from the equipment along with the paint thinner. The two make a nice duo for sure. No scratches left on the machinery and the parts. Just Right.
