Honestly, I've never cooked with something like this. It's excellent! I love how it heats, so far it's non-stick (new, so we'll see! But the surface shouldn't give out), and a plus that I can safely use metal utensils on the surface. Nice and light as well. Since it's the only one I've gotten so far, I'm using it for things I probably should be using a skillet for! (I'll order that soon.) Oh, and I have an induction cooktop. Works beautifully.

This is my first Hexclad purchase. The first thing I noticed was how everything was packaged. Each piece was in its own bag and well protected. The Dutch Oven itself is very well made and solid. I like that the handles don’t get hot, unlike another pot I have. I don’t see how a pan could be better made. I will definitely be looking to buy more Hexclad products in the future.

This is a perfect size for so many food preparations! Hexclad is beautiful as well as well as very functional. The company has treated me very well. I had pans that chipped at the top and after sending pictures and explaining the defect, they replaced them immediately. They have great consumer support!! That is as important to me as their wonderful products!!! When I want a new pan or a wedding gift, Hexclad is the first place I go!!

I love the 5qt Dutch oven for it's more suitable size for cooking soups and stews, etc., for only 2 to 4 people. It is a good size for roasting a chicken and medium size roast also. It cooks like my old cast iron Dutch oven but without the tedious cleaning. The nonstick Hexclad makes clean up a breeze The only complaint I have, for which I took away one star, is the solid stainless lid. I hate it. 1st, I prefer the glass lids so I can see how my food is cooking without lifting the lid. 2nd, I dislike the lid hanging over the edge of the pot allowing steam to stream out especially if food is cooking at a roiling boil.
LOVE THIS PAN! I seriously do. I love the size of this pan and it is the go-to for my family of five. I absolutely HATE the lid though. Why? Why can't it have a glass lid with a vent hole like the rest of my pans?Do I recommend it? Yes. Would I purchase another? Absolutely. I just really wish it had a different lid.
I have been struggling with every pan I have to stop food from sticking. Today I used my 5 qt Dutch oven to cook chicken soup. I like thick, hearty soups with lots of veggies and chicken. This pan worked perfectly—maintained a perfect boil and every ingredient was cooked perfectly—nothing stuck to the bottom! I am so excited to try a stew next.
I haven’t used it in the oven yet but am sure I will come fall time again when I run the oven more. On top of the stove it is fantastic, as are all the other pieces - I own this piece, the 1 qt pot with lid, the 6 piece pot set with lids and the 6 piece pan set with lids as well as the 12” wok and the 12” round griddle. You know what would be awesome??? A double griddle for my induction stove top that has 2 burners that work together! Please, please!!!!
After having a porcelain/enamel Dutch oven that cracked under pressure due to quick rise bread best Dutch oven has been amazing. Not only is it lightweight seals without a hole in the lid, which, by the way, Hexclad, it would be nice if some of your other lids didn’t have holes, but the size is perfect for a small batch items. The only thing I would like better is if they would take the keep cool handle technology from the skillets and adapt it to the pots. Otherwise it’s an amazing item for your kitchen. Finally a lightweight Dutch oven. That performs even better than a Le Cruste.
When HEXCLAD was first introduced, we purchased practically the entire line of cookware for our recently purchased Induction range. The performance of the combination of the new range and HEXCLAD outperformed cooking with gas. and the combo was better than any other cooking we have ever done. There are only two of us so we have reapportioned our recipes for two. The 5QT Dutch Oven size was needed for "smaller portion" cooking. I actually emailed HEXCLAD suggesting the smaller size a year ago and we were delighted to see it was offered recently. This new tool is the perfect size for our needs.
We had been waiting for this to come back in stock and it was worth the weight. Have been looking for a replacement for a 5 qt. Teflon pot and another 5 qt vintage aluminum for quite some time. Both pots are from the 1940s and 1960s for the Teflon one. This pot completely exceeds our requirements. It's a great "pasta pot," soup/stew pot, and great for browning/braising post roast of any kind. WELL worth the price. Another "Rolls Royce" to add to the collection. Thank you, Hexclad!
