I've owned five pairs of the original A.T.A.C. 8" Side Zip Boot and had a chance to get the A.T.A.C.® 2.0 8" Shield Boot with Zipper. Because of this connecting material I couldn’t open up the side of the boots wide enough to put my feet in and out.For me this is a huge disappointment, because when I first put the boots on and then tightened the laces the boots seemed to fit fine with the zipper zipped up, but after unzipping the boots there wasn’t enough spacing due to the limitation of the opening up the side of the boots due to the material which hinders open up the side of the boots.As a result, I would have loosen up the laces to get my feet out of the boots, which defeats the purpose of having the zippers, which should have allowed enough spacing so it would be easy to put the boots on and take them off without having to loosen up the laces like my original A.T.A.C. 8" Side Zip Boots.In this respect 5.11 Tactical failed in their design and I had to return these boots, which I purchased via mail order.Had I had the opportunity to try them on in person I would have immediately notice this issue and not purchased the boots…

I’ve been wearing 5.11 boots for the last five years and I’ve always loved my boots. I ordered these in the same size I previously wore as my old boots always fit perfectly. I want to like these boots but the toe area runs small. The length is fine, but the width at the toes is too narrow and puts pressure on the toes. I tried to wear them for a shift hoping they would wear in, but it didn’t help. The composite toe just doesn’t allow for the room. The boot overall is nice and lightweight, but the narrow toe ruins it. Since I wore them I don’t think I can return them and will have to try to sell them. If you’re considering purchasing these, I would suggest getting the next size up but then you run the chance of them being too long.

I've been in the manufacturing industry for over 10+ years and have tried several different brands. This boot right here is by the perfect boot,The fit is perfect!The look after a fresh shine is stellar. Even if you don't take care of them they'll last awhile through the coolant, oil, and even occasional tool drop. (I had a 104-pound vice drop on them and then boot was mostly intact)My feet are comfortable in them and the insoles are the only thing i replace and thats about once a year.

Ive been wearing the V1's for the past 4 years (1 pair a year). Im sad to see I can no longer get that same boot anymore. I bought these V2's and instantly hated the fit. The pinch in the top mid-foot area has me concerned with being able to wear them all day.-The replacing of the leather upper with nylon seems to make the boot floppy and have no support.-The new black liner seams cheap in comparison to the silver and black liner. Im yet to break them in but I'm eager to see if the heals rip out.-The V2 is almost an inch taller? Yet both are 8" The new V-cut feels like I'm wearing a shin guard.-WHY are the V2 laces too short? I'm in construction management so need safety boots for site visits only.Unlike previous tactical boots I've had ie swats and magnums these boots required about two or three weeks to break in and become comfortable. That i could put up with but not the lack of waterproofness! Was just out a couple of days ago and was fishing a marshy shoreline and was standing in about 3 inches of water. After about 5 minutes my feet felt clammy but I have sort of felt that before with other WP breathable boots so I thought little of it. I just bought my second pair and it is really the best tactical boots out there. I used my first boots for years. I have a flat feet and usually cannot find the right boots for my feet but this boots works perfectly. Very comfortable and breathable. I work both indoor and outdoor and whenever I'm out in the rain, it kept my feet dry. Even in the snow, my feet stayed in the right temperature. Highly recommend this boots! Thank you 5.11

I discovered there, that these model boots lack breathability and hold in odor, regardless of how long you use them. But they are not the boot to choose for somebody who will be wet and sweating. My first time wearing them was simply on a 12 hour plane journey in completely fresh clothing when they were brand new, and yet I discovered the boots retain odors. By the end of that plane journey the boots already stank and the rubber like texture doesnt help. If you're in an environment where airing them out, cleaning them and waiting to dry isnt an option, you'll just have to deal with the rubbery mildew smell which develops if you cant wash them immediately. Nobody can bunk with a person who stinking boots, If you know, you know. If you are heading into an austere environment these are not the boots to choose. They have an authoritative appearance and give you ankle support, but the rubber texture really withholds smell. They are decently comfortable but I'd prefer halcyon tactical boots from 5.11 any day. They are comfortable, give great ankle support, and put some bounce into your step. As well as having great breathability and not having that odor-increasing rubber texture. I feel bad giving them a low rating but it's my honest experience with the Shield 2.0
I’ve worn the boots for about 3 or 4 days, I really like them once I get them on. I love the feel of them on my feet. The comfort foam texture is outstanding. I like using the zipper to get in and out of the boots, and that’s the only thing I don’t like. I think after I break them in, putting the boots on and off will become easier. They are light weight, look good on my feet, waterproof, and have an EDC pocket. What more could you ask for in a good boot? Oh, by the way, they have reinforced toes.
This is my third pair over 6 to 8 years approximately and I wear them practically every day of the year in all kinds of weather and situations. As a Wildlife officer and part time EMT I trusted them to keep me warm and dry regardless of the situation and they never failed. My last pair is worn so bad the soles are coming apart but they never leak and remain comfortable. This new pair has a steel toe that feels a little odd but I think after breaking them in they will feel as good as the older ones. Not sure why the change was made.

These boots will be comfortable enough for those long shifts on your feet.Gotta call in the middle of the nitht? Where I live it snows around 5 to 6 months of the year (or a cold miserable mess, anyway) so any road treatment or salt will discolor the leather within a year of solid use. The boot will still be fine and function as it should, just won't look as nice.Dollar for dollar I dont think you will be sorry.Will probably ONLY buy these boots for the rest of my life.
