I bought my first pair of the Defender Jeans 6 or 7 years ago. I wear Jeans almost every day I rotate through 5 pair that I own, They still fit great they have no holes or fraying. I have not been easy on them either, through remodeling a bathroom long hikes and camping trips, to putting in flooring. I can throw them in the wash and they are still nice enough that I can wear them to work the next day. Could not recommend these jeans enough

Awesome jeans. Favorite pairs of pants I own (I bought three of them). Just the right amount of stretch, durable, and they look good. Fabric is very comfortable material and is not too thick or too thin.If you carry IWB like I do (custom Glock 19 build), order your normal size. You don't need to go up or down in size at all (some brands you have to, like Vertx). There is just the right amount of room for your pistol and holster. This is contrary to the LAPG Terrain Flex jeans that I ordered, which have too much room in the waist. Yoke pockets for spare mags work great, and there are extra durable belt loops for running a Nexbelt or Kore Essentials gun belt.Highly recommend the 5.11 Tactical Defender Flex Slim jeans!I have the stone wash, dark indigo, and concrete ... MoreAwesome jeans. I purchased a pair of these last year on sale. Not having had any previous 5.11 products. Initially I thought the fabric was too thin, but after having them for a while they quickly became my favorite pants. Just enough pockets for every day wear and ccw carry. Just enough stretch to make them comfortable, not baggy. So far they have exceeded my expectations. Have decided to order more. Thanks 5.11.

Tall and skinny dude @ 6' x 165 lbs.The 32x32" jeans fit well. Not ultra-skinny skin-tight, and not straight-leg baggy. The leg is long enough not to ride up too far when I sit down and cross my leg. The leg cuff plays well with a taller military boot (ala AR 670-1), but seems a little tight and bunches up above the shoe when rocking something with a thicker support like a Keen mid. Low shoes don't seem to create any issues. The material has a nice stretch and soft finish to it. It's great if you're active and move around a lot. Very comfortable. As far as cons, it ends up making the jean less durable in the long run. For me that means that the back wallet pocket starts to wear out in only a few months. I take it to a tailor to add a Cordura backing on the inside ... MoreTall and skinny dude @ 6' x 165 lbs.The 32x32" jeans fit well. Not ultra-skinny skin-tight, and not straight-leg baggy. As far as cons, it ends up making the jean less durable in the long run. For me that means that the back wallet pocket starts to wear out in only a few months. I take it to a tailor to add a Cordura backing on the inside of the pocket and that does the job. There's also a hole that develops in the crotch right by the seam after around 6 months of constant wear. That stuff is easy enough to get stitched up or reinforced. Be fair about this situation--it's to be expected with this kind of material. You can get something tough-as-nails and be uncomfortable or unsatisfied with the fit/finish, or you can choose fit/finish and sacrifice a little durability. There's no perfect jean unless you're spending 5x the price on a custom job. If you're involved in tradecraft then you know you have to customize everything anyway.Belt loops are wide enough for a CC belt. Sizing for my body allows for an AIWB or other things. The rear mag pockets are what sells the jean to me. It's either buy these or have other brands edited to add them in. Perfect for my phone, an extra mag, a small radio, or some other kit. Front pockets have some nice reinforcement on the inside for a knife; I'd like to see that go over the top at least a little to help protect the fabric from the constant wear caused by the knife clip.Overall, a great offering from 5.11. Their slim-fit style pants work well with my body type and I'd like to see more. I'd love to see this type of jean in a black, selvedge/raw, unfaded/textured denim; something a little more durable and stylish with the same cut. I'd pay $30 more for that, which feels like a fair price for the same pattern and increased material quality/cost.
The pros - Perfect for EDC and traveling. The hidden pockets easily stow a pistol mag or something about the size of a pack of cigarettes. The multiple belt loops distribute the weight of a rig nicely. At first glance they don’t look out of the ordinary for UC/off-duty. The corners of the front pockets where your pocket knife/pen goes is reinforced which is a nice touch. The cons - Material isn’t as thick (warm) as regular denim so they will fade and wear with washes but the cotton/poly blend is super comfortable. I’d recommend going down about half a size in waist and up a size in length. They’ll shrink up in the dryer a little bit but the waist will stretch out to your body so sizing down eliminates some sag. 5.11 isn’t “vanity sized” so try the different fits if ... MoreThe pros - Perfect for EDC and traveling. I’ve worn 30x30 jeans since high school but wear 28x32 in 5.11s high fashion.
My 1st and last pair. All cosmetic attributes are great. I am a slim guy who needs to carry regular-sized stuff in all my pockets. Slim fit is narrow at ankles and way too wide at hips. Not my shape. Rear pockets are not deep enough to safely carry anything I need there. Will be donated to someone with no jeans.
Jeans seem of good quality but oddly don’t fit the same as the khakis, which fit better. More pleased with the khakis. The jeans have an abundance of material in the front pocket area on mine, which cause them to bunch weirdly. They also don’t fit over cowboy boots well, which causes bunching below the knee. Can’t imagine how baggy the non-slim ones must be. Little disappointed for what I paid. Hoping 5.11 will release a boot cut option.
Terrible. I ordered the slim flex jeans but then got a straight flex in a different color.I am an extremely busy student, blue collar worker, and student pilot which makes it really difficult to return and exchange because you guys don’t have a store for the south side of Atlanta.I am a very loyal customer but this mistake in merchandise upset me because I thought 5.11 cared about the details.I own like 5 pairs of 5.11 pants and 3 5.11 discontinued back packs. If you guys could send me the actual pair I ordered I’d appreciate it. Until then I will need to find the time to return the wrong pair of jeans y’all sent me.
There's a stark difference in cut between size 38 and size 40. I wear a size 38 waist normally, but I sized up to accommodate AIWB carry. I was expecting to have a similar slim fit through the legs, but legs are more straight leg which made me second guess which fit of jeans I bought. Looked at tags; they were "slim fit." I might have to take these to a tailor to get the fit I was looking for, but 5.11 Defender Flex do their job as jeans.
I've been wearing the defender flex slim jeans for years (and the df slim pants) because it offered a nice tailored look, you can get them in the half sizes, meaning waist size 31, and they are super durable and comfortable.I just purchased a new pair to replace one that I've worn every day for two years. The size and cut was completely different, like i was wearing a burlap sack. I then laid it on top of my other multiple pairs and it was a solid inch longer and wider in the leg and waist, at least. It was not tapered, in fact was more of a straight leg or boot cut. So I took it into a 5.11 store, thinking I may have gotten a bad batch or mislabeled pair. I had to go a full size down in waist and inseam to get close to a good fit and it was still a straight leg or ... MoreI've been wearing the defender flex slim jeans for years (and the df slim pants) because it offered a nice tailored look, you can get them in the half sizes, meaning waist size 31, and they are super durable and comfortable.I just purchased a new pair to replace one that I've worn every day for two years. Not sure what's going on here but disappointed I need to find another daily pant. I used to live in these pants they were perfect. I may just patch up my old ones because I'm stubborn and love them and don't want to move on.
