I love these boots. Theyāve been worn for almost two years for duty and still going strong. Excellent in 100 degrees plus weather and -20 degree weather, and in Montana terrain. And after a little Kiwi attention, these things have endured just about everything. Bought a second pair as a backup. Not even sure I need to bust them out yet. Better than the more expensive Danner counter part, and for way cheaper.

Very comfort but I buy 2 every year. Iām about to get rid of my 4th pair and contemplating changing boots cause Iām sick of buying so many. I find that the soles wear out relatively fast and the laces pop after about 4 months. I wear them for around 48 hours a week working private ems so if that gives you an idea on how much stress theyāre under. My biggest pro next to comfort is the price. Hard to beat $120 or $96 on GovX

The good -Absolutely feather light! My asics are heavier.Zipper is not gusseted, so should be plenty of egress.The less good -Zipper sticks, catches on the protective flap (possibly a one-off issue with my pair)Almost too roomy at a regular width; heel cup is really deep, and there's a lot of room for movement in the forefoot as well.Lacing is fast and smooth ... so it slips back a little too easily when cinching the arch.All in all, I worried that the fit was just asking for blisters in my case. If you have bigger (not longer) feet and ankles, or always wear thicker socks, these may be the way to go.

I just bought a second pair of these boots, mainly because 5.11 sent me a decent coupon. My first pair were nice--super comfy and sized just right. My only complaint is how short a lifespan the soles had. Actually, the heels were/are my concern in how quickly they wore through. I walk between 12,000 and 15,000 steps/day which isn't too crazy, but less than six months in, I had holes starting to show in the heels. My heels usually wear faster on the outside edge because of my gait, but now thanks to these holes I can see how little substance there actually is past the initial tread. That tells me they would still wear through just as fast at any angle. Horrible quality. Soles are already coming apart and leather is cracking. Just started wearing them. Tried to return them to Simi Valley store and themanager wouldnāt allow it. Will not use 5.11 boots again. If I am going to spend this amount of money then Iāll shop somewhere with better quality. Iāve even had better luck with Wal Mart boots. Would not recommend!!!

I have worn them in all sorts of weather conditions, and as anyone who lives in the midwest can tell you, there are a lot of them. They are not waterproof, however, having worn them through heavy rain and snow, I can say they are pretty good at keeping your feet dry. They are well insulated, and also keep your feet warm. When summer comes, they are breathable enough that your feet won't feel like you stuck them in a furnace. Having worked in industrial freezers, the slip resistance is top-notch, and has kept me from injuring myself on the job multiple times, not to mention they look fantastic while doing so. Ordered 10.5, usual size for me. Didnāt take long before I realized my toes were hitting the front. Took āem back to the local store (nice benefit when buying online, thank you) got half size bigger and loving them. 8ā tall, very supportive. Great tread and design. Look great, feel great, had them before.
I had a pair of these boots a few years ago and they were so comfortable, and they didn't need any break in period. The pair that I got for this past Christmas is nothing more that junk! I understand that some shoes need a break in period, but I've worn these to work for 4 shifts and all they do is make me hate them more and more. When I told my wife which pair of boots I wanted, it did not say on the website that they are steel toe. They seem to run small in size and they have zero flex to them. It's a shame that I am passed the 90 day return period or they would be going back. I'm very disappointed in the "quality" of these boots......5.11 you can do better.
Just returned from hiking in the Smokies. Day 1 I wore Hoka GTX. Excellent cushion, comfort and traction up the mountain, through various terrain. Day 2 I wore 511 ATAC. Excellent cushion and comfort. The problems with traction began on the descent. It was rocky. Descent was bad. 3 stars due to substandard traction on rocky trails.
A great fit out of the box. Iāve only had them just over a week but I wear them all day every day both at the gym and in the office. Very comfortable.One thing to keep in mind - sizing is a bit dodgy.I had bought another pair of boots online and they were way too narrow (9.5W). Brought them to the store in Tampa to exchange. Saw the pair I ultimately bought, also in a 9.5W, preferred them and they fit perfectly. So I think that sizing is not consistent.With that said, they seem well constructed but time will tell.
