The perfect controller does not need to be redesigned. Fantastic, compact, great for smaller hands and tables. Even though it doesn't reproduce the exact same soft and supple button presses of the OG MD 6-button controller, it is excellent by current standards, and comes with 2 shoulder buttons for contemporary needs. Excellent for retro gaming and serves well as a fightpad. The cross-platform compatibility is amazing. Rechargeable, and works wired or wireless. Be sure to update your firmware by visiting the 8bitdo website and using their provided upgrade tool. Check out the logs on their website to see the improvements. Be advised that the battery is 480mAh and not 1000 mAh like the Pro+, but I've never had any problems with battery life at all. Amazing controller. Great for DS games, mapping ABXY to CBZY, and Start/Select to X/A. I like having special functions mapped to Start and the other stuff. Very comfortable. The added shoulder buttons are very nice to have and feel great to press, and the D-Pad is otherworldly. Immediately replaced my SN30 Pro+ for DS games.

I love this controller. To me it's the best of all worlds in terms of the pre-analog era of gaming controllers. The d-pad is flawless and works exceptionally well for fighting games. The buttons are high quality. I've never held a Saturn controller before but if this is a perfect copy then Sega nailed the original design. Bluetooth works great. I use it with the phone mount which works well enough. I haven't had to recharge it yet after several sessions of an hour or two each. Here's hoping it has a long life span.
