Wonderful book. I feel like I'm going back in time making these medieval recipe. The reference to the passages in the books to where the foods were first mentioned is awesome. Fantastic forward by the master of the universe himself, George R.R. Martin.

Such a fun book! If you love Game of Thrones, especially if you've ever thought of having a Game of Thrones themed party, this book is a must-read! The authors are real fans of the series, and choose to create recipes based on some of the most interesting meals in the series. I've recreated several myself, and they're terrific! With the Game of Thrones HBO show premiering again soon, I might have to pull out my copy and plan a meal to watch before it starts.

It's cool to collect if you're a fan of the show. But realistically I probably won't use any of the recipes. They're kinda old and not of my taste.
I was really excited to receive this book in the post. It has all kinds of recipes from sweet to savoury, each one offering two versions, the original medieval form and an updated modern version. I do have a slight niggle in that it is in American cooking measurements and his is not made entirely clear. But I have a set of american measuring cups and items by weight are simple enough because my scales do both metric and old school. The support offered for the book is brilliant, the writers have a website http://www.innatthecrossroads.com and are active and responsive to any questions and comments. There are also extra recipes available. There are also extra recipes available. In fact it was by finding the website and trying out some of the recipes posted there that I decided to purchase the book.Am still looking for where I can purchase grains of paradise (though the writers do say they can be subbed with slightly less black pepper) and there is one recipe for rattlesnake that I don't think I'll be trying (sub free range chicken perhaps-) Most of the recipes are things I would make and have ingredients for in the pantry, so don't let the idea of going medieval scare you!
The book itself is amazing. Not only does it break down the spices that might have been used from the time period, but the writers do an awesome job of offering alternatives! It's a great book for those who love to dabble in the kitchen and might throw a big Game of Thrones party!
If you know a Game of Thrones enthusiast and they love to cook, this is the perfect gift for them! It even goes into how to interpret recipes and translate to modern day food. Very neat book with great tasting results!!
I bought this book so I can cook something from The Game of Thrones. This book has great illustrations and very interesting recipes. I cooked several meals from it.I would say it is a good addition for someone's kitchen library!
I bought it as a present. My friend used it many times to cook for her parties. The book has good illustrations and interesting recipes. it is a definitely a good present for a person who likes Games of Thrones
This cookbook is GREAT! I love that it has two different types of recipes for many of the dishes: medieval AND modern. That way you can choose to keep it simple and rustic to get the real feel of medieval cooking, or you can go for the modern version which has more ingredients added to give the dishes more depth. So far I've made the Honeyed Chicken and the Breakfast in Winterfell dishes, as well as a couple of dessert dishes. They were very easy to make and absolutely delicious! You won't regret this purchase. :-) I've included a photo of the Honeyed Chicken that I made, I apologize for not putting it on a serving dish first.
