Book Summary – A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a gripping young adult mystery that follows Pippa Fitz-Amobi, a high-achieving student who chooses a five-year-old local murder case as the subject of her final school project. Everyone in her town believes that Sal Singh murdered schoolgirl Andie Bell and then took his own life—but Pippa isn’t convinced. As she begins to dig into the case, she uncovers secrets, lies, and inconsistencies that suggest the truth is far more complicated—and dangerous—than anyone thought. As her investigation unfolds through interview transcripts, journal entries, and emails, Pippa finds herself drawn deeper into a deadly web of secrets. With tension building and threats mounting, the line between right and wrong blurs in this fast-paced, twist-filled thriller. About the Author – Holly Jackson is a British author best known for her bestselling A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. She studied English and creative writing at the University of Nottingham and began writing her debut novel at the age of 15, eventually publishing it to critical acclaim. Jackson is praised for her compelling plots, complex characters, and innovative narrative formats that blend traditional storytelling with multimedia elements like texts and case notes. Her books often explore themes of justice, truth, and the darker sides of human nature. With her debut series becoming an international hit and spawning adaptations, Jackson has quickly become a standout voice in young adult crime fiction.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely adored this book. It is a YA mystery/ thriller. With that being said, this is one of the best YA books I have read. The plot and character development were amazing. There were multiple characters throughout the book, but they were really easy to keep track of. I really enjoyed seeing the emails and interview transcripts throughout the book. It made me feel like I was Pip trying to solve this mystery. And let me tell you, I was totally shocked by whodunnit. I am a HUGE true crime podcast lover, so when I started this book it really reminded me of the podcast serial when they cover Adnan Syed’s case. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone, especially if you liked this book. And vice versa. I was please that this book did not seem like it was ... More⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely adored this book. So I've been reading a lot lately, and I recently stumbled across something called "BookTok" while I was searching for new books to add to my TBR collection. I don't use TikTok (or much social media in general), but I quickly discovered hoards of short videos where people share their favorite current reads. That's where I found A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (among other books). I did enjoy this story - the character development, and the unexpected twist at the end. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but... Americans do NOT sign their text messages with "Xx" and they never use the word "fancy" instead of "like." I have never fancied anyone in my entire life. These details are super important to continuity, and I have a harder time immersing myself in a story when those details are not consistent. When I read, I'm trying to get lost in the story, picture myself right there with those characters. But every now and then, I found myself in the U.K. and having to be reminded that these characters are supposed to be suburban Americans. Don't authors have editors or publicists or someone to help catch these errors? Other than that, I enjoyed this book and I would definitely be interested in reading something else by Holly Jackson.

Pippa "Pip" Fitz-Amobi has decided to perform her Senior Capstone project on the disappearance of Andie Bell, a high school senior presumed to be murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh. To determine if Sal really was guilty, Pip uses her intelligence to examine the case and threads that were overlooked by the police.I'm an avid reader of Young Adult novels, but I have to say, I haven't found that one YA Mystery novel that I absolutely fell in love with. Until I met Pip. It's hard not to root for her, she's a great heroine and amateur detective. Intelligent, strong, and full of wit. When I first started this book, I did have my doubts. what can a 17 year old find, that the police didn't. However, when it became clear that there were gaps in the police investigation, and Pip saw it, I was on board.I couldn't put this book down! The twists and turns were amazing, and it was really well paced. It had a wow factor finish. Every time I thought I had something figured out, BAM! I was wrong. I didn't know when I purchased the box set, that it was mixed media (transcripts, notes, texts, and more), I'm typically not a huge fan of books like that, but this worked on every level. All in all, this is a fantastic read, it's a roller-coaster of emotions, I cried! Even if you're not a YA reader, this is a must read book. It's got everything and it's definitely worth your time.As always, my review is my own opinion and thoughts. This review will be shared to my Instagram @fictionluxblog shortly.

Great Ending! ... Boring Lead Up
15 January 2024

As an avid mystery fan, this book was okay. The beginning was difficult to get through. Much of the same thing happening over and over again. Pip interviews someone, she second guessed her initial thoughts, and then finds someone else to interview. It’s a bit immature as well. For such a mature plot line, I would expect more extreme details like threats on a person’s life not threatening to kill their dog, and more than holding hands and a quick peck on the lips as far as romance goes. This COULD be a really good book. The last few chapters were much better as they included a few more dangerous scenarios, but still, felt like more of a hallmark movie than a murder mystery. It had a great ending but trying to get through the other 2/3 of the book was difficult. Also, please keep in mind that this book was originally published in the UK and edited to American vernacular, but there are still some UK colloquialisms that slipped through the cracks making it sound a bit less natural.

I thought I had it figured out!

I fortunately do judge a book by its cover! I seen people had this book, and the cover drew me to it, I thought I had to read this book, so finally I made my way out to buy this book. Let me tell you half way through this book, I thought I had this book figured out, felt like just another open and shut case, but then I turned the page and I was just as shocked of who the murderer was as the character was. My adrenaline spike and I started trembling wondering what was going to happen next… I found myself holding my breath, what I thought was towards the end, still wasn’t the end of the book, there was more, and it wasn’t over yet. My biggest regret is I didn’t buy the second book, when I picked my next book to read next because I decided a different book to try ... MoreI fortunately do judge a book by its cover! MUST READ!
18 December 2022

Let me just say, I started this book on a thursday and finished it 2 days later. Reading each “part” of the book in half a day. “Nail-biting mystery” doesn’t even come close to describing this book. It is in my opinion, a film-like page turner. While reading every line, I could imagine the scenes and watched as the story unfolded. My emotions bursting with excitement and compassion. With the little comedic tidbits added in, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be purchasing it’s sequel tomorrow. Thank you Ms. Holly Jackson for bringing this book into the world!! :)

THE BEST BOOK EVER
23 March 2024

I have NEVER been a book person in my life. I had been wanting to read this book for a while and oh my god, I think this made me a book person. I finished it in one night and did NOT want to put it down! There had been no book that I didn't want to put down till now, I cannot wait to purchase the second book!! If you are hesitant about getting this book or not, do not overthink and just get it. Some plots of the book can make you said/cry like how Pippa's dog (Barney) drowns. Overall this book is a must buy!!
