Purchased the Aberlour 12 Year Single for a client and did a virtual tasting.Both the client and I tasted it neat and really appreciated the spice undertone - clove, cinnamon - maybe some allspice which was brought together with a slight citrus, maybe grapefruit undertone.Very well crafted. I only wish I had timed the tasting to be way after the work hours as I would have enjoyed continuing to sip on the Aberlour but alas, work duty called.In short, I would highly recommend the Aberlour. Perfect for sipping.

I'm extremely selective in my Scotch picks, but also not a millionaire. If you're not a fan of the heavy oak tannin front found in basically all bourbon, and many oak finished whiskeys or Scotches, this delivers. The sherry barrel finish is incredibly evident in the profile of this stuff, and its price point belies both its complexity and its pleasantness. Makes an excellent Scotch soda either with or without back sweetening if you, like me, don't generally approach spirits "neat" as well.

I loved this Scotch; however, there was almost no finish here (the one downside to what could be a absolute astounding Scotch). I love the dark fruits and candied cherry and butterscotch cream. But that lackluster finish. Now, if you mix this Aberlour 12 with a Glenmorangie Lasanta then you find a Perfect Match and Complementary mixture. I found 4 parts Aberlour to 1 part Glenmorangie Lasanta creates the fruit forward and lushness on the front & final palate so longed fo. The marriage creates a much longer and aromatic finish by the additon of the normally acidic and astringent Glenmorangie. As anyone knows, the Aberlour is very good on the nose and front palate, but has almost no finish - it just disappears. But marry the 2 and what an amazing self-blended Scotch
The first impression of this whisky is that it is beautifully packaged in a tube which immediately gives the impression of it being a luxury product. It is slightly shorter and more "squat" than your regular bottle of whisky and this adds to the uniqueness of it. We tried it with a single ice cube and it was beautifully smooth and rich without being too fiery on the tongue. It was almost fruity and spicy like Christmas cake! Absolutely delicious and would definitely buy it again, not for every day drinking but for a special occasion or treat.
I am partial to most single malt scotches finished in sherry casks. I have tried dozens of them and currently own about a dozen. A couple of my scotch drinking friends and I recently did a blind tasting of three of my favorites. All three of us picked Aberlour 12 as the best. It is sweet, fruity, and smooth with equally pleasing nose, taste, and finish. I will continue to try different sherry cask scotches. But Aberlour 12 will be hard to beat, regardless of the price, and because of its reasonable cost, it is my go-to/everyday drinker.

This is a pretty average scotch in my opinion, would be a great pick for a newbie. It’s very “smooth”, no harsh edges, clean finish, tons of fruits from the sherry influence. It’s almost “too smooth” in my view, to the point of being not interesting after a few sips. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing memorable either. I’d share this bottle with friend who are not whiskey or scotch drinkers, and everyone could have a great time!
I'm no expert, but have tried my share of single malts over the years.I tend to like a medium-high peat with a bit of caramel taste, like Oban or Talisker; but not too sugary (sometimes the fruit can overpower the liquor).Instead, this Aberlour 12 is very light, with no afterburn at all- However the quality is high and the flavor is wonderful. Definitely much better than other, slightly lighter single malts like Glenlivet 12 etc.This is an easy whiskey to enjoy neat and although not my usual style, I found this one to be really enjoyable. I also liked this one better than the 'Double Wood' which was a bit sweeter than this one. If your audience is not looking for smoky peat, but a smooth delight, this is the one for you.
The second this arrived in my house, my partner was quick to pop it open and give it a try. He is a big whisky lover but usually just buys whatever is cheapest to save some money, but we decided it would be a nice treat to go for something a little nicer. He said the quality of the whisky was top notch and found it to have a lot of flavour. It wasn't too sweet like some of the other reviews have mentioned. Unfortunately, he is a bit terrible at putting flavours into words, but the fact that he went for another glass straight away proves that it was worth the taste. Now I must hide this so he doesn't drink it all in one go!
