I purchased the double 80, and was so happy with it I bought a single 80 to cool another unit. I was able to vent my A/V receiver and cable box with the double. Both are very confined in the media cabinet and need air movement. The PS3 probably generates more heat than the other 2 together, but because of its smaller size has some breathing room around it in its compartment. I was so happy with the double I figured why not? Personally, I removed the front and rear fan guards because in my mind, they only offer resistance to the fan, which causes more noise. Also, they just give dust 2 more areas to accumulate, right? These turn on/off with the equipment when plugged into the equipment, move enough air to adequately cool the components, and are as quiet as I've been able to get.Very happy with the price and quality of this product!

I was a little nervous about this, since I just installed an expensive, customed-designed, floating cherry/walnut entertainment cabinet. The passive cooling airflow thru the cabinet was not proving workable for the AV Receiver I have in the unit. I purchased an AC Infinity T8 with rear exhaust, and paired it with the Airplate S1 fan. Installation of the Airplate, while easy, gave me sweats as I cut into the custom cabinet - but the S1 template made it extremely easy. The T8 and the S1 pair perfectly, with the T8 controlling the airflow. Both the S1 and the T8 are solid performers, neither feel or look inexpensive, and the grill on the S1 actually enhances the look of my floating cabinet.

I ordered 4 fans, two intake and two exhaust, to install in a very tight AV Cabinet with almost no place for ventilation. Fans were a must to increase airflow across the equipment. I was able to find a way to squeeze them in along with a Controller 2. I was impressed with how well made they are, they're nearly silent and the design is simple and elegant. Cutting the holes in the cabinet was hard, but installing and programming the fan system couldn't have been easier. Best of all, it solved my heat problem immediately. This really is an outstanding product. I like it so much, I just ordered another pair of fans for another cabinet.

The fan works well, though it is not whisper quiet, but more than quiet enough for my needs. I used two of these is a small floating entertainment center that I paired with a multi-zone Controller 8. My one wish is that the in-line switch could be removed so that it didn't conflict with/duplicate the Controller fan-speed functions. If I bought a kit that included a single-zone controller (as I've done in the past), the included 6" fan doesn't have the in-line switch.Overall, these are small gripes on an otherwise very well engineered product.
This product is simple and well-engineered. I used one simple fan and a thermal trigger to cool down a media cabinet with a large amplifier and some Sonos, SmartHome and Arlo units. It is very quiet but moves enough air to do the job even with just one unit. The packaging is reminiscent of Apple products - very nice touch on the quality of packaging all the way down to the instructions.
Overall, it's a pretty solid product. The only downfall is the fan. It's in reality, not very quiet. I can hear it from about 6 feet away, easily, on the lowest setting. In comparision, there are many fans on the market that are much quieter, move more air and cost less. The only thing that makes this worth it is the stylish and high quality mounting and power connections that come with it. I'll replace the fan soon, and then it will a better product. Don't expect silence though.

Great concepts (including daisy-chaining fans together if needed). Simple construction - yet for ~ $20 (the smallest fan), the quality is not lacking at all. Nice that you can use either USB or wall socket adapter, with multiple speeds - perfect. All this and quiet, quiet, quiet (at least low speed...which is all I need to keep the AV receiver within limits).I spent months researching my AV components, then spent $$$ purchasing those - most of us put these components inside entertainment system cabinets and then expect them to last for years and years. It's too late to do anything but repair or replace if they overheat...so invest a ... MoreWell done! For safety and dust-related reasons, we were hoping to put the integrated inside the cabinet. I chose the S1 based on its design, specs and size. Overall, this is an excellent product. The template for laying out the mounting was accurate and the cord is long enough to route outside to plug in and still keep the speed switch accessible. At the highest speed it is slightly audible during quiet music passages but not obtrusive. It would probably be quieter if I had mounted it in one of the side wood panels, but wanted it out of sight so I mounted it in the rear Masonite panel. I also opted for one of the fans to be reversed so the air could circulate more efficiently, but after reading the instructions, I realized I could have easily done it myself. For $3, though, it's still worth it. The fans are very sleek looking on my dark cherry cabinet and the packaging includes everything you need for any possible installation, including templates. Anyone with basic carpentry tools and skills can install them. My last AV Receiver had a shorter life than expected. Same with my security camera DVR. They were always in a hot and hidden cabinet. My fault. I believe this will solve the issue. Heat kills. I periodically open the doors and check the temp now. MUCH cooler. The fans are quiet too. I recommend this product.
