I use it daily to weigh my portafilter to check for grind retention. The plate is magnetic, so it snaps with ease to the top of the Lunar scale. Highly recommended!

While it is a bit pricey I do think that this basic design is a good idea but it should have a much stronger magnet. The magnet that’s on it barely hold it in place, and let’s be honest, for the price of this scale it should come standard in the box not be an add on extra! This company makes two excellent scales but neither one of them are truly perfect. The larger scale could be made thinner to fit tighter spaces and should be made waterproof and the smaller scale could be made wider which would make the adapter plate unnecessary and make a porta filter or a double shot fit perfectly without needing an additional thing to have sitting around. It’s a good addition to the scale to allow for weighing the long Portafilter. The price is a bit steep for something that can be replaced by a small rectangle of anything. The magnet feature is neat but the magnet is too weak for my liking. If I had to improve it I’d make it just a bit longer as well. Overall it works as expected but price is a bit steep.

This is a quality coffee maker except for two things, one small, the other more significant. The glass lid does not fit snugly into the top water jar or the bottom jug - to keeps popping up so that it doesn't form a seal. Secondly, the drip rate is quite variable and often slows down to a halt over a period of time. So the idea that you can set it up at night and find your cold drip ready to drink in the morning is a fantasy. It requires regular supervision and adjustment during the drip process. Not happy about that!
Because I mostly single dose, I rarely need this for espresso brewing, but since I also do a lot of pour over brewing this really comes in handy. For example when doing a Chemex brew this allows me to still use my Lunar whenever my brew method has a much larger footprint that would normally call for a larger scale. Also, , this plate is magnetized and stays easily out of the way magnetized to the side of my Silvia when not in use, which of course is awesome.
I used it one time to weigh my Porta filter, and wouldn’t you know it slid off when I wasn’t looking (and coffee went all over the carpet). In my experience its about the same difficulty level to balance the Porta filter on this expensive plate, as it is to balance the Porta filter over the scale without the plate (either way it may slide off). I sometimes use this plate over the scale because it’s a little easier to wipe off then the scale.
I bought this along with my Lunar Scale. I wanted this because I weigh my Rocket portafilter and to hold two small cups. Don't buy this to weigh your portafilter. It falls off. It's actually quite astonishing that this product can still be sold when it does not do the very simple thing it was designed to do. It cannot hold a portafilter. It slides off unless both the portafilter and weigh plate is pristinely clean and have absolutely no traces of water on it. Why hasn't anyone else said that this is a $40 scam?
Simple but efficient gadget. Gives space when you need some for your two cups.The light magnetic contact gives stability to the plate; it’s a plus.
I use the weighing plate to add size to the lunar specifically for pour over. I've had some issues in the past of the thermal shield that comes with the lunar making an unstable stand for my v60. But now I have the utmost confidence in it not tipping, plus I still have the small size benefit for when I pull espresso shots on my flair.
It’s a basic plate that does the job perfectly. It’s nice to be able to weigh in the portafilter instead of using a dosing cup (although I like my dosing cup!)It’s also really nice to be able to put two cups down for the espresso without jamming them together. No risk of pouring down the outside…
