I used to buy this for my dogs years back. Now I have a cat, and he’s been on Merrick grain free chicken for about 5 yrs. He’s had flaky skin for a few months, so I looked into changing his food. Duh!!! Why not see how he likes the food I got for my dogs??? He loves this food! When I say love, I mean he literally picks this out from the mix with Merrick and leaves the old food behind. So much for weaning him off the old and onto the new! Lol. His coat is flake free after a week, and even softer than before. Great food!!!

I own a Savannah and wanted to buy clean cat food. (Especially since they’re so expensive.) Cat food is a huge debate in my Sv groups, so I did my own research. A lot buy Origen and Darwin’s, but mine won’t eat them. She has a very shiny, smooth coat, and it’s really soft! Sv’s have a coarse coat, but everyone remarks on how soft my cat’s fur is! I’ve tried several brands, but she refuses to eat them. I’ve stopped any and all other brands bc Acana Meadowlands is the best choice, for my Savannah! Pics bc she’s just so darn cute.

I've been feeding Acana Meadowlands to my cats for about 1.5 years. They eat Acana dry food in the morning and canned food in the evening. I would prefer and believe it is healthier for cats to eat wet cat food for all their meals, but I can't afford it. So I looked for the healthiest dry cat food I could find and this was recommended to me by my cats' holistic veterinarian. Yes, many other dry cat foods are cheaper, but I am willing to stretch my finances for good nutrition for my boys. And even though this is pricey, it is still cheaper than the Tiki Cats canned chicken I give them for their supper. My big boy, Moose, has a quite sensitive tummy. My cats have been liking this food so much that they get desperate to wake me earlier and earlier so they can get their breakfast. Before this last auto ship order was sent out I was notified that there were some changes to this recipe. (Thanks PetFlow for send out the message! Very considerate.). I'm not exactly sure what was changed, but unfortunately Moose and Bear aren't as eager for their breakfast now. They'll eat about 3/4 of their bowl and walk away without finishing. Normally Moose chows his down quick while keeping a close eye on Bear's so that he can grab a few bites of his before Bear's is gone. I'm giving this 3 stars. I still think it's quality food, but unfortunately my cats don't like it as much as the previous recipe. If you're interested in checking it out I wholeheartedly think you should, but recommend trying with their smallest bag first. I, however, will start looking for another dry food for my kiddos.

It takes some time to change flavors but worth it.
23 September 2022

I feed acana cat food now so this was just a flavor change, however it is taking my 2 a little longer than i expected to warm up to this. It has 75% meat protein vs. 65% of the flavor i had been feeding so i was sure they would devour it right away. They are beginning to eat it so its a keeper. I like the thought of feeding my cats a good quality protein source and as far as price comparison to the other quality foods is great.

My cats love it!

My end goal used to be able to afford Orijen as the ingredients as fantastic, but Meadowlands literally has no difference between them ingredient wise. My cats have various issues between them so finding a food for all 3 to enjoy was hard. One was obese (he's since lost weight while eating this), one is just a growing kitten (this food is for all life stages), and my last has sensitive stomach issues and never ate more than a bite or two at a time (now he just eats his whole meal at once). I do wish I could find more coupons for this food as the price does add up, but that's okay!

Our picky senior cat loves it!
31 May 2022

We adopted a senior Maine Coon six months ago; when we got him he was almost completely shaved (serious skin/fur problems when he came to the shelter). He had some skin and digestive issues that I thought could be due to allergies (fillers in major brand dry food). I got a bag of Meadowlands as part of a welcome kit from a local pet store; when I got the food home he immediately went for the bag and tried to tear into it. After only a month of feeding Meadowlands his allergies cleared up and his coat grew in extremely soft and healthy (and faster than we expected). If we mix it with other dry food he will literally pick out the Acana kibble and leave the rest.

Picky cats pick this!
18 September 2022

My local pet-healthfood-store did not stock the usual high-meat grain-free brand I have been getting, but I desperately needed more food and this one seemed the most similar (down to the red lentils!); one of my cats is sensitive to most common filler ingredients. When I mixed this with their old food, both cats picked out the pieces of this food. Guess I made a good choice!

I have a kitty she is about 2 years old. Im always looking to give her the best i can. I started working at a petstore and found the acana brand and foundout it is minimally processed and high quality kibble. I started with the cheaper fish brand and she liked it but her litter was very very smelly and she kind of had a stink to her... after switching to the meadowland one she is way happy, not stinky and her litter isnt horrendous anymore and her coat is so soft and shiny. I highly recommend this brand.

Why must companies keep "tinkering" with formulas that work?
6 August 2020

I agree with the previous reviewer. I mix this particular dry cat kibble with Orijen and one flavor of Taste of the Wild and feed to a flock of 30ish kitties who come and go as they please. I also offer a less pricey blend in a higher quantity in another set of bowls. They choose what they prefer. I, too, see diminished enthusiasm over the blend that includes this, but since I mix two other foods in, it's not as obvious of a change as it was for the owner who feeds this Acana straight. Why change a good thing? Beats me. Hope you're listening Acana. I, too, got the PetFlow "heads up" and just groaned. I'll keep feeding it because the ingredients appear good, but it's disappointing what the manufacturers do...as the old-timers say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

top quality & addresses complex multi-cat needs
29 September 2021

I worked in pet retail for several years and am happy to see that Acana & the Orijen family have continued to maintain their superior quality, both in terms of ingredients and processing. I have two cats with different needs that are all met by this food: - A senior (16-yo) and a younger cat (2-yo) that both need higher fat/lower carb diets - The younger cat is a fussy eater and needs a higher calorie density food - The senior needs lower fiber and this one is around 4% (other grain-free lines with comparable quality are 5-8%) - The senior needs lower phosphorus (new formulation went up from 1% to 1.2%; vet & I have given up on trying to get him to eat Rx - it's just not gonna happen) - Both cats need larger kibbles or they'll scarf and throw up (these kibbles are ... MoreI worked in pet retail for several years and am happy to see that Acana & the Orijen family have continued to maintain their superior quality, both in terms of ingredients and processing. Acana is a high-quality kibble I feel good about feeding. Both cats have great coats, great energy, and great poops. No constipation, no vomiting, and they're excited to eat their meals.
