I would definitely recommend this product to others. I'm a fan of Ubiquiti products and they have even stepped up their game in recent years, making their products truly disruptive in price vs. performance. Some consider the UAP-AC-LITE "prosumer" grade, and that describes my application perfectly. I'm not an IT professional; I have these deployed in a residential SOHO environment. The consumer-grade garbage that your ISP provides (i.e. ONE magic box for modem/router/switch/wirelss-AP) is junk; they barely suffice at all in larger homes. That's where these UAP-AC-LITES save the day. They excel! It's hard to imagine how anyone would be disappointed with the UAP-AC-LITE. Ubiquiti does offer several up-scale models (LR, PRO, HD) with more features, but the price-point of these LITE's is superb. If you take the plunge like I did and buy into the full set-up with the Unifi Controller (router, switch, CK, AP), a whole new world opens up and you will leave the dingy days of consumer grad WiFi behind you forever. And in the end, the cost is on par (or even cheaper) then mesh solutions like Google Wifi, Orbi, Eero, Lyra, Luma, Plume, Velop, Amplifi, etc. There is a good reason why large establishments (hotels, conference centers, business, etc.) don't run ONE giant powerful centralized WiFi access point; because it's dumb. You need multiple access points on larger properties (including many homes). WiFi ranges is limited not only by the AP, but by the clients connected to them (your iPhone, laptops, IoT devices, etc.). Therefore, the most power centralized AP in the world is not going to suffice for iPhones two floors up and 4 rooms over. The only reason for the four (4) star rating, instead of 5 stars, is the small fiasco with Ubiquiti's handling of the model-number/hardware change of the 802.3af compliance issue. But GREAT product overall!

Excellent product overall. Recommend that you first get familiar with Unifi's controller software. These will do both 2.4 and 5 Ghz, have very good coverage, and interoperate with each other to provide zero-handoff coverage in large spaces. Reliability with these has been superior. One thing to keep in mind is that this package deal does not come with any PoE injectors. You will need passive PoE injectors, 24VDC, or a PoE switch from Ubiquiti. I recommend either using one of their ToughSwitch (5-port PoE or 8-port Port) or UniFi Switches (varies - 8 ports to 48 ports). Hint: The signal bloom is aligned with the U symbol on the unit. Just like all antennas, these units will propagate a stronger signal in one direction (i.e. the sides of the U) and a weaker one in ... MoreExcellent product overall. Lastly, if you pair these with a CloudKey for control, you can forgo using a dedicated PC to run the control software (which is only needed when setting up and making changes); Keep in mind that if your PC buys the farm for any reason, you lose control and will have to readopt to another unit (either through reset or the CLI shell interface). For large installations and to save yourself headaches down the road, ALWAYS pair these with a CloudKey (Ubiquiti part number UCK).

I have used these access points in both commercial and residential installations. They work very well in providing 2.4GHz coverage to a fairly broad area and 5GHz coverage for a room or two. They continually provide consistent service without reboots, congestion issues, or interference. The ability to use 5GHz DFS frequencies enables interference free 5GHz network coverage in MDUs or where tenants are in close proximity to each other. Roaming across access points is seamless and unnoticed by end users. The ability to broadcast multiple SSIDs and segregate traffic into separate VLANs is a welcome feature not found in consumer wifi gear. I installed these for a home wi-fi network and love the results. My house has phone jacks wired with Cat 5e, so I replaced RJ-11 plugs with RJ-45 and put a UAP-AC-LITE at each end and one in the middle. It works seamlessly for all devices. Configuration required some technical skill for one of the three devices; it would not update firmware through the automated interface and I had to look up a manual, get the default passwords, and do a manual firmware update via scp. The other two updated automatically through the management console. If you can do a wired backhaul and have some technical skill, this is a great home WiFi solution. The range and signal penetration through walls is very good. I've even got signal in the garage.
The typical home wireless router puts everything in one box - the router, software, and wireless access points. UniFi breaks it apart into plug and play modules that you can place anywhere independently. This gives way more configuration options which is all straight forward with the UniFi software. For those a little more knowledgeable on networking this is an awesome setup to have. Originally I plugged the UAP-AC-LITE into a EdgeRouterX but after power issues I upgraded to the Security Gateway which is a much better experience. Installed the UniFi software on my Macbook Air, it found and provisioned both, and I was up and running. Once it was configured I now only run the UniFi software when there's a need to check the system. This is enterprise grade with well considered management options and monitoring through an intuitive interface (four WiFi networks, customizable guest web page, deep packet inspection...) Great performance thus far, and with the UAP-AC-LITE using PoE I can have it on UPS while placing it anywhere there is an Ethernet port, like tucked behind the TV :-) Now looking to invest in a Cloud key (an independent little box to run the UniFi software) and a UniFi switch (to give more PoE). I'm hooked...
The setup was easy and straight forward. Bought on the recommendation from the local internet provider. The design is clean and simple which for me is a pro. I don't know if I can turn the LED light off, as I haven't looked, but the light is decently lit to know that it is working. The "one" cable install is good, but I had to use a different power cord as it would not reach the socket I wanted to use. I would have liked some sort of LAN cable with the package, but I had spares lying around, so it didn't stop me from getting it set up. Performance-wise, I went from about 12mbps to almost 60mbps to the laptops and game consoles connected to it. This was a quick speed test, with my normal internet usage, around peak times. After trying endlessly with complex router and repeater setups, powerline networking and $- top-of-the-line consumer equipment, I was tired of buggy firmware and inconsistent performance that seemed no better than the many cheap and popular offerings. The higher Tx of expensive wifi routers lead to full bars on receiving devices, but don't accurately reflect many devices inability to talk back with the same range and power, leading to odd signal drops and delays. The UniFi equipment is rock solid, realistic and excellent value for AC hardware. With two AP's, none of the 15+ devices on my network at any given time have dropped even once in the few months I've owned them. Throughput is great with all applicable devices successfully locking onto the fastest supported link speed.Roaming and band-steering works effectively, and the Java-based management console is top-notch for small business and prosumer use with features not typically found on consumer-grade equipment. Ubiquity releases firmware and software updates to improve performance and add useful features. They work perfectly using PoE from a Mikrotik RB260GSP (recommended to me over UniFi's PoE switches in that price range). I do recommended turning down the Tx power on the AP's when more than one is used for better roaming performance and less interference. The packaging, product and software all showcase quality and attention to detail, and the AP's look great ceiling-mounted but can also be tucked away if preferred. The closest consumer hardware can get is multiple AirPort Extremes, but you pay a higher price while also sacrificing features and manageability. I was uncertain at first, looking at other small business AP solutions, but I'm glad I went with the UniFi and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
I bought 4 of these, 3 are wired into a Ubiquiti UniFi 8 Port 60W PoE Gigabit Network Switch US-8-60W using PoE, the other is then on wireless for the furthest part of the house.Configuring it seemed a bit tricky, I initially plugged them all in to a switch to adopt them, but couldn't get the wireless one to connect up wirelessly without resetting and re-adopting wirelessly. You cant rush it, you have to let them settle, sometimes the config takes like 3 mins to take effect which feels really slow. Now they are all connected it all works like a dream and we have perfect wifi all through the house and it has worked flawlessly for a few weeks. We no longer ever get buffering when streaming tv, not even at the back of the kitchen or in the loft.If you have a computer running all the time, then you can have the network management server running. Otherwise, it does all work without the management app but you cant then use the app. I have a raspberry pi serving as a media server, and it runs fine on that.Pros:- Works with PoE if you want to have them ceiling mounted and dont have power- Once it is working the signal quality is brilliant- The management app is really good and lets you keep an eye on what is going on- Not having separate wifi networks makes things like sonos work so well all through the houseCons:- Trickier to configure than for example the google mesh devices- You have to have a machine running all the time to run the app on your phone
When i got this (in 2020) it worked great. easy to setup, fast and stable wifi for all my devices. Now (in 2024) i'm having all kinds of weird issues - and just with this AP, both the swisscom internet box and my mobile hotspot never have any problems with my devices. This AP now randomly disconnects, randomly crashes my WIFI card (Intel Wifi AX200, running linux) and can only make a stable connection when limiting the speed to super slow speeds. Very disappointed, especially since i'm really not doing anything special. Guess i'll have to use the swisscom internet box' wifi, it's fast and stable, i only got this AP to do some homelab stuff and have seperate networks for my homelab and other devices in the house.
I've seen a lot of other reviews and you must understand the typical users will have some issues setting this up. I have an IT background and was able to setup it up ok, but they are definitely not plug and play. They instructions that come with them are a very small folded pamphlet. You have to download Unifi Controller software to install on you PC to manage it, so it does not have a built in interface to access. Also, it you want to remotely manage it the Controller software need to be running on you PC all the time, or you will have to pay hundreds of dollars for cloud software key.
