Acme Thunderer Finger Grip Whistle

I actually bought this whistle in 2014 when I first started reffing at 16 years old. My mentor told me this is the best one you can buy and he was right. The best sound you can hear from a whistle, everyone in the rink will hear. The sound of the whistle alone commands respect. Thunderer is an appropriate name because it really is as loud as thunder. I'm actually here to buy a new one since I sadly lost the original one I bought 8 years ago!

Acme thunder whistle should be the only choice for hockey.I also ordered a club zebra bag, it is probably one of the best bags lots of pockets. I always used the NHL Fox40 whistle since I started officiating 15 years ago. I decided to give the ACME whistle a shot as I know all of my fellow friends/colleagues in the AHL/NHL opt in for this whistle. I was NOT disappointed! The whistle has a louder-pitched chirp when you blow into it, and I find that it has a better impact on game management, as it provides a slightly unique sound compared to other sounds typically found in arenas where players can more easily differentiate between the two. It also came with a rubberized piece that covers the upper half of the whistle, including the portion of the whistle that typically goes in the mouth. Prior to that, I used to wrap tape around that portion. Additionally, I think it's a more effective option than tape when it comes to not cracking your teeth on the whistle when you're bringing it to your mouth, and lets face it... there are only two types of officials. Those who have clipped their teeth once or twice already and those who are going to clip their teeth once or twice in their career. I recommend this product over the NHL Fox40 whistle.

I’ve used the thunderer for 15 seasons. Needed to get a new one, as my backup broke. Unfortunately, when I was resizing the finger mount, the chrome plating came off a little bit and it ended up cutting my finger, bled all over the ice. Super annoying, I’ll have to toss it and replace it.I still recommend it because the whistle itself is the best there is.

I only have great things to say about these 2. Customer service was amazing. Friendly, helpful and available. They helped me with what I needed and new their stuff. Acme 477 Thunderer 58.5 Whistle

Great whistle! It's loud, and with enough force can be heard for a good 500m. For beginner umpires however, I would recommend starting with a smaller whistle; this one require so much breath per millisecond, combined with how fast you've been running, it can come out as a wheeze.Strong lungs required.

Acme 477 Thunderer 58.5 Whistle is a very high quality whistle. it comes with grips for the handles and rubber cover for the mouth piece. only flaw is that the rubber they give you for the mouth piece stretches and you will lose it eventually. I like the rubber as the metal mouth piece can hurt if you place the whistle in the wrong part of your mouth eg into your teeth. other than this it is sound whistle and will last you many years.

Best Ice Hockey Whistle that Exists!

I will only use the ACME Thunderer Whistles when I Officiate and Referee indoor & outdoor Ice Hockey games. The Thunderer is easily the most reliable, loudest, and worth every penny. I have a couple as backups just in case one ever breaks, but they are built very well and will last quite awhile.
