I have without a doubt owned more of this fragrance than any other. I can't even begin to count the number of memories that I have made while wearing Acqua Di Gio. It will always have its place in my growing collection of mens fragrances. So I may be a little biased. With that being said. I feel they have reformulated it over the years and it no longer does it for me. To my nose, it just doesn't smell like it used to. Its close, but just not quite right. It definitely does not perform like it used to. In my younger years. Id spray it on, put on my shirt then go about my day or night. Get home and take it off. Then rather it was a week or longer before it nade its way into the washing machine. I would still be able to clearly smell its scent. Now, I can no longer ... MoreI have without a doubt owned more of this fragrance than any other. I can't even begin to count the number of memories that I have made while wearing Acqua Di Gio. I wont ever tell anyone not to buy it, but I'd suggest waiting until you find it on sale.

Oh man, so much to say!! I'll try to condense this review, but prepare yourself! In 1996 (when this was first released) I was in middle school. 25 years later, it is still one of the best selling men's fragrances ever. Got a date? AdG. First day at work? AdG. Interview? AdG. Need something to mask that gym funk? AdG. It is literally the Swiss Army Knife of fragrances. There are still ladies out there who don't know the scent of Versace Eros, or Le Male from Jean Paul Gaultier. However, you'd be hard pressed to find someone, let them smell this, and not hear them say 'Oh, I know that - thats that Armani fragrance Aqua de GEE OH' hahaha. An aquatic masterpiece that has ascended to legend status, it's Achilles heel nowadays stems from its performance and longevity. ... MoreOh man, so much to say!! An aquatic masterpiece that has ascended to legend status, it's Achilles heel nowadays stems from its performance and longevity. Unless someone has an allergic reaction to fragrances, I simply find it impossible to believe anyone wouldn't like this. It out-shined so many classics from back in the day that even I wore (CK One, Tommy Hilfiger for Men, Polo Sport, Cool Water, L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme, etc. etc.). My history with this one actually stems from it being the first decant I ever got from a friend! I smelled it on him and traded him some of my L'Eau d'Issey Hour Homme (from Issey Miyake) for his AdG, and between us, I got the better end of the deal! Unlike the sharp Yuzu citrus that Issey Miyake's fragrance had, this was much smoother and almost musky/powdery, with an awesome dry down that wasn't screaming for attention. Back then, this was THE scent in the air that you needed to have. Nowadays, you really need a decant if you plan on wearing this throughout the day. If I had to pick a season for this, it would definitely work best in warm summer days/nights, which will help with the projection. If not, you might as well expect similar performance as Versace Pour Homme, another beautiful scent with abysmal longevity/projection due to reformulations. Honestly? I'd still give it a 4 out of 5 due to nostalgia, scent profile, ease of use, and versatility. This is a great scent for interviews and short stints where you need to throw something on and don't want to think twice. If you live in warm climates, and don't own Acqua di Gio, you probably own one of the several flankers. All hail the king of Aquatics! Of course, one cannot go without mentioning people like Annick Menardo and 'Fragrance Demi-god' Alberto Morillas as they were instrumental in bringing this to life. One behalf of many successful interviews, dates, and relationships around the globe, Thank You for creating this legend! Sincerely, Carlos (Daily Carry Solutions)

I was in high school when this came out in 1996. Shortly thereafter was when I discovered it and it's probably THE one that got me hooked on fragrances. Everyone in the early 2000's was wearing this, but for good reason. It just smells good! For me it's probably the mixture of neroli and citrus. I'm a fan of both. It's fresh an clean smelling. I'll probably always have a bottle on-hand despite not wearing it very often anymore. It's nostalgic for me. I gave a 20 year old work buddy a sample of this recently and the smell lit his eyes up when he sprayed it on his wrist. The next day at work he was wearing it and I realized just how good it is. Almost made me fall for the scent all over again, as I haven't smelled it on anyone lately. Almost all of us have this in our ... MoreI was in high school when this came out in 1996. Acqua Di Gio by Armani is a classic scent that many people own, so you may not stand out as being unique if you choose to wear it. It’s been around for a long long time. However, that being said, it is a fragrance that smells great and fresh, with a prominent melon opening note that gives it a light, summery vibe. I’m a huge fan of melon notes so to me this is a fantastic fragrance. I would recommend one of the flankers like Profumo if you want a twist that differentiates your cologne while maintaining the same DNA. Objectively it’s a fantastic fragrance, it’s just too common. There’s a very good chance that you’ve smelled it before. I’ve heard that it’s the best selling fragrance of all time. I don’t know if that’s true but I can believe it. First why send us the smallest size when the sample size when it’s not even an option in selecting to review? I did notice that ppl got other Giorgio Armani Aqua di GIo scents in much bigger sizes! Don’t get me wrong I appreciate everything tho I find it a bit unfair that we all weren’t sent the same size. Plus this size isn’t even an option on influenster which is crazy! Anyway, what I really don’t like is the spray on these sample bottles! It wastes a lot of the cologne and you really don’t get much on yourself. The scent for this one was nice, not too strong or musky which I liked with a sweeter note making it suitable for a man or women! It kinda reminds me of Tom fords black orchid just much lighter with a hint of sweetness which seems to intensify as you wear ... MoreFirst why send us the smallest size when the sample size when it’s not even an option in selecting to review? I noticed the fade 1st(about 10 mins after applying) and the sweetness popped out about 15 mins after,so unfortunately no one could really smell it but me! Reapplying didn’t help and after an hr even I could barely smell it which makes it completely pointless! I wish they would make better spray bottles on sample sizes as well as a lil stronger and longer lasting!! This is a big NO for me,even tho I loved the scent! Waste of money for a cologne that will only last an hour! I will not recommend or be purchasing! What a shame!
Acqua di Gio for Men is sensuous and sparkling cologne which conveys a masculine aura of marine notes, fruits, herbs and woods. Inspired by a Mediterranean island refuge, it captures the essence of paradise. I have enjoyed this scent for over twenty years, as it continues to be a classic scent, but yet, it is still youthful and in style. I believe Acqua di Gio is effervescent and never dates or gets old. So many other scents come in their own in one decade and then are replaced by the next cool waves in the next (or just changed out from generation to generation). We were so obsessed in the nineties and definitely loved our colognes for eternity. Although, all the guys that were stuck in the water did, eventually get out. Now, in 2022, there's not a Paco, Christian, Hugo, Michael or Calvin still in the very top class of men's colognes. Does anyone still remember their colors from growing up in the eighties? Of course, not. (Almost) nothing lasts forever, with the only exception (so far) being Giorgio Armani Acqua di Giò Eau de Toilette. Yes…new scents might be trendy and popular, but most are passing fads. No gimmick here, Acqua di Gio is a quality fragrance that lasts permanently.
An argument can be made that this is one of the most well known and best selling designer fragrances OF ALL TIME. Scent profile is amazing, and you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t like how this smells. Like a friend of mine out it: if you didn’t wear this back in the day, the guy who was trying to date your girl probably did. The versatility of this scent profile makes it so appealing - it literally is the Swiss Army knife of fragrances.A lot can be said for an iconic aquatic fragrance that is celebrating 25 years of age in the frag community snd still going strong. Speaking of strong, that’s where I do have to interject with an honest truth: reformulations have turned what is an amazing fragrance to a less memorable one. Speaking of strong, that’s where I do have to interject with an honest truth: reformulations have turned what is an amazing fragrance to a less memorable one. Scent strength isn’t what it used to be, and the only way to really get decent performance is to douse yourself with it during the warmest of weather. This is still an easy blind buy for warm climate areas like Miami, and makes an awesome gym scent too. That said, I really like that the flankers take it in a different direction while remaining true to the OG DNA. If this was re released with a more potent sillage/projection, it would sell even more than it already is. Fingers crossed!
It's funny how you can dismiss something the first time around and then end up falling in love with it! I was at Sephora last year and was browsing fragrances when I came across 'Si' and thought I'd give it a try as it's been around for almost 7 years, always popular and often heavily advertised. Smelling it from the bottle I didn't like it much if at all, yet later that week I caught the most gorgeous scent from a lady who was walking past me in the store aisle and I just had to ask her what it was. Well imagine my surprise when she told me it was G.A's Si! Went back to Sephora and this time made sure to spritz some on my wrist, rather than dismiss it downright from the tester bottle. Well imagine my surprise when she told me it was G.A's Si! Went back to Sephora and this time made sure to spritz some on my wrist, rather than dismiss it downright from the tester bottle. And what a difference that made...a yummy, almost gourmand fragrance that reminds me very much of YSL's Black Opium, yet somehow 'greener' and sweeter. The opening note is a combination of Cassis, Patchouli, Vanilla and Rose, and I get a strong wine note which reminds me of a freshly opened bottle of Rioja. Very shortly after that I get some wood, spice and berries. The patchouli in particular is a very dominant note throughout so you'd probably have to be a fan of it to like this. The dry down is a powdery, woody/earthy scent which is sweet but not overly so. A perfect fall or winter fragrance as it's very comforting. Wearing this always gets me compliments. Just keep in mind that it's best to go easy with this as the sillage is powerful and the longevity is very good too - I get around 6 hours or more. Although you may not be able to smell this after an hour or so, others definitely will be able to! -- My Top 10 Beauty Must-Haves
I intended to treat myself to a new scent with my JL vouchers. An extremely helpful member of staff (Selina?) listened to my requirements and names of fragrances I use regularly. She had expert knowledge of perfumes and sprayed several onto cards for me. They were perfect choices, so it was hard to make a decision. She then mentioned Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Homme and said that it also suited women. This was the one: a fresh light green scent ideal for daytime and evocative of summers swimming in the Adriatic. It is very long-lasting - and, oh; I'm half Italian.
The bottle is sleek and square exuding the timeless quality the fragrance launched in 1996. Ever since, Acqua Di Gio has turned into a classic scent for any man. I jumped out of the morning shower and felt the slight texture of the frosted glass as my fingers wrapped around the squared off sides of the 20ml bottle. My bathroom lights from above refract through the glass and create an aquatic aura calculating the notes trapped within the frosted prison. I press to release the juice and saturate my pulse points. Instantly, I forget that I am in my Oregon bathroom and see myself walking through groves of Orange during the time of their life when their blossoms release essence in the soft air currents. Instantly, I forget that I am in my Oregon bathroom and see myself walking through groves of Orange during the time of their life when their blossoms release essence in the soft air currents. Ocean water in the distance crash upon beach rocks and create a magical ozonic atmosphere that is cool, refreshing and briny. I smell lemon at the top mixed with orange and jasmine, I am welcomed and kissed with a Mediterranean semblance. Acqua Di Gio then turns into a luxury vacation and notes of hyacinth, rosemary, sage and Calone make part of the heart. A spiciness of nutmeg and coriander is tempered by the base of delicious rich resinous cedar, amber, oakmoss and white musk. Acqua Di Gio exudes strength, positivity, energy and confidence. Even though this fragrance is marketed towards men, I know of several women who have clutched this as their signature daily. Acqua Dio Gio 20ml bottle is currently going for $35 on the Giorgio Armani website and would make a great travel and work bottle for on the go. I believe this is a great price to try this iconic fragrance and have actually purchase a larger 200ml bottle that I was able to engrave though Armani. Scent lasts around 5 - 7 hours and anytime someone passes by, they ask what I am wearing. I would recommend this quintessential fragrance to anyone despite its popularity.
