adidas TERREX Terrex Free Hiker GTX Mens

This shoe is a hybrid between trainer and walking boot. Boost sole very comfortable and responsive compared to other cheaper walking boots I have worn. Primaknit sock
provides snug fit around ankle although some people may find they don't offer enough support here, not an issue personally though. Worn for a couple of hours walking Ben
A'an in wet conditions and the Goretex kept my feet dry as expected. Found they sized up a little small, and needed a half size bigger than the Adidas trainers I wear day to
day. Have found this is same with other shoes in the Boost range (running).

Love them. They’re so confortable and perfect for little adventures, and they look great. I’ve used them in our last trip to Scotland, and I was very happy with them. Haven’t
tested them in long harsh hiking conditions, but you’ll probably need something a bit more robust than this. But for every normal hike, they’re great.

I absolutely love these shoes. I previously had the Terrex Eastwings, similar but very different in construction. I love how soft they feel on the plantar side of the foot. My knees
are injured, arthritic and I have flat feet so it gave me a bit of knee pain while adjusting to the Boost softness. It has a removable insert so you can place your own custom
orthotics but not sure how effective they will be. I've put custom orthotics in shoes with similar boost softness tech and it went horribly. These have some strengthening areas
that could mitigate that but I don't thing it would be enough. It has edequate arch suport for now. They can be a bit tricky to get into because of the sock like upp... Show more

I'm able to stand on them all shifting (9hrs) but gotta move around a bit and stretch. Great for hiking, made for it actually but when most people buy hiking shoes it's not just for hiking it's for everyday use and it's weather protection features.I would absolutely recommend.end this product, especially black on black! Not the white sole ones.... Show more

Amazing But Expect more from Adidas

Ran a half size more than my usual size. The grip is excellent and that Continental tire branding is not a gimmick I truly feel that grab. It’s just a tad uncomfortable and lacks padding in places that I would prefer. I’m taller and thinner so I have bigskinny feet. Nothing thicker socks can’t handle but there is some slide some blister action behind the heal. Simply best shoes I’ve come across but unfortunately maybe not best for me. (I did get this on sale so review based on ~$100)... Show more

Everything I was hoping for!

At 6'1" and 240 lbs I need support and comfort. I've worn this almost daily for 6 months for hiking and running, I average around 30 miles/week. it's extremely impressive! I was stunned at how breathable it is. I've worn this on hot summer runs and hikes, trekked through shallow streams, weathered heavy rain on muddy trails. The durability and traction it provides have me sold. I've finally worn down some of the tread and am looking forward to getting another pair! One note on the size, I ended up adding a thing insert to take up space. The length was perfect for me at a size 12, but w/out the added insert it wasn't as snug as I like my shoes. Your preference may vary.... Show more

Fail

I’ve had a pair of Terrex AX4 for about 4 years and they were a awesome. Tried out these free hikers because of all the reviews about how comfortable they are due to the Boost foam. Well these were a fail for me. They gave me blisters and after hiking up to Nevada Fall and Upper Falls in Yosemite the rubber on the heel of one shoe started coming unglued and the plastic ridge in the outsole where the heel is was beat up pretty well. Ended up returning them after my return from Yosemite. No way these shoes could last more than 6 months in rugged terrain. For the price they’re not worth it. Picked up some Terrex Swift R3 instead for an upcoming trip to Big Pine, CA.... Show more

Overall Great Hiking Shoe
27 September 2021
The Terrex Free Hiker GORE-TEX Hiking shoes are a great shoe for hiking. To test this product, I wore them on four hikes with different trail conditions including dirt trails, stream crossings, rocks, steep slopes, gradual inclines, and flat topography. On the last hike I was carrying a 30 lb pack to test foot comfort under weighted conditions. I tested the shoes on all four hikes wearing REI Co-op brand light to medium weight hiking socks. The first hike was on a portion of the Antonovich trail in eastern Los Angeles county and consisted of a dirt riparian trail that had gentle slopes but included frequent rocky stream crossings varying from 1-6 inches in depth. The boots handles the crossings well allowing me to traverse both clean dry rocks as well as wet algae covered rocks without slipping. When I tested them by stepping directly into the stream the boots repelled the water from penetrating into the boot even when I submerged the boot to the laces. While underwater my toes inside the shoe did feel colder but did not feel wet.The second hike was in the foothills of San Dimes Canyon Park which consisted of a short 1 mile loop up a few rolling hills on dirt trails followed by walking through a park consisting of numerous live oak trees and grassy conditions with my dog. The shoes were conformable during the whole experience even when my dog tried to twist, pull, and run me over live oak tree roots chasing after grey squirrels and ground squirrels guarding their burrows in the park. The third hike was on a continuously ascending rocky trail up the foothills along the Etiwanda waterfall trail in San Bernardino. Once again the shoe preformed quite well even over extremely rocky conditions and the only noticeable limitation is my feet felt warm after the hike. However my feet were not warm enough to make me want to change shoes before driving home so I stayed in these shoes both for the hike and to drive. The fourth hike was in the foothills of the Los Angeles National Forest. For this hike I tested the shoes while carrying a 30 lb pack. There was no noticeable change in comfort hiking with the pack compared to hiking without one other then my feet were marginally warmer and sweated.I would recommend this shoe to my friends! I liked the foot support and comfort it provided. My foot fit very well in the size 10 shoe. I liked that the shoe was able to resist water while traversing streams and could handle both rocky terrain and dirt trails quite well. The only limitations to the shoe although very minor are the following, initially sliding your foot into the shoe is challenging with the material used at the top of the shoe, your foot will feel warm after walks, and I had the black colored shoes that became dirty really quickly as seen in the attached photos. Possible recommendations to alleviate these problems would be to offer tan or brown colored shoes to mask the dirt, add more elastic where you put your foot into the shoe, and experimenting with increased breath-ability to reduce foot warming during hikes. I was not able to test these shoes under cold conditions.... Show more

It was the bright blue, red, and sea foam green colorways that caught my eye, and which complement many outfits in my wardrobe. They get compliments as if they were some limited edition high-top sneakers when I wear them out dancing, but on the trails and walking on snow in winter, they're by far the most comfortable hiking boots I've owned - compared to a bunch of more expensive, leather and suede boots made by Italian mountaineering brands even! Whereas many boots I've owned trap in the cold - my feet have circulation problems and are often cold from within - these Adidas hiking kicks do a great job of warming my feet and toes without ever feeling constricting. My only wish is that they could be completely stain-proof, to keep looking fly even after having been ... MoreIt was the bright blue, red, and sea foam green colorways that caught my eye, and which complement many outfits in my wardrobe. Also, I got lucky with the size fitting me well. How is it that these 11s fit me just as well as some older Adidas trail-running shoes that are size 9.5?... Show more

I have heel issues and am constantly on the look for comfy shoes. I had been aware of these particular shoes for a while, but they had always been just too expensive for me. Then they came on sale at Very and I had a money off code so I too the plunge.I'm so glad I did, they are fabulous, straight out of the box they are so comfortable. They hug your foot with their lovely padded sides and are great underfoot. I swapped out the insole for a cheap memory foam insole and I sink deep into the heel with every step, pain free. While they hug you foot, the toebox is really big and roomy, I could probably wear them without laces. With my foot issues, I never wear a pair of shoes 2 days in a row, I wore these for 4 days in a row and had zero issues, I will probably live ... MoreI have heel issues and am constantly on the look for comfy shoes. 1st time I put them on I discovered I had an ankle bone that sticks out. These are tight, stretchy and take getting used to. Absolutely water proof even in boggy terrain, I solved my problem by putting a pad over the bone. By yjr third walk they felt just right. They look good, feel good and are worth the price. Its a cold spring now, will have to see what they are like in hotter weather.... Show more
