Sandpaper lasting longer, less clogging, cut time quick.and i almost went makita! This is an exceptional tool with 6 years warranty. Very impressed aeg. Im sold.Cheers. Neal.

I went for the AEG brand knowing of their past West German quality and figured paying more would secure a better item. Apparently, not so. At the end of the day, it is still Chinese made. Admittedly, it does have a quality feel and look about it. It is a good weight and very ergonomic. However; the pad brake ceased to work after 8 hours sanding (over three weeks) and turned it into an all consuming gouging angle grinder! A $20 sander would have outperformed this item! I took it back and was told that the AEG warranty conditions, in agreement with Bunnings, stipulated no refund or replacement; only the repair of the item. I wont fall for the "name brand" thing again.

Best Random Orbital Sander
19 September 2023

The AEG random orbital sander as it produces a very neat end result while simultaneously being time efficient. It has extremely good random orbital movement, and a very high maximum speed. It removes material quickly and efficiently, while providing a perfect finish in a very short time. Because the machine has such an even, neat movement pattern, it's easy to control. I am also impressed by the dust extraction. If you connect the included nozzle to your workshop vacuum cleaner, it's even better

Good sander but spare back up plates not stocked.
14 May 2024

This is a good sander and have been happy with up to the time that a new backing pad was required. Bunnings don't stock the backing pads for AEG and neither does anyone else that i have located. They have to be especially ordered in by Bunnings apparently, meaning two trips to Bunnings. Not happy!.

Great warranty for a sander you will have to replace every 10-18 months.
15 September 2024

Great sander when it works and you don’t have to send it off for warranty repair (which takes around 3-4 weeks for them to turn around and tell Bunnings to give you a new one). I’m 3.5 years into the 6 yr warranty and I’m about to take it back for my 3rd replacement. This time the whole sanding plate came off whilst sanding and you will have to tape the dust bag on because after a few months its will come looks and come off constantly during use.

NOT WHAT IT SHOULD BE! I EXPECTED BETTER!

Purchased this sander thinking it would be top quality from the AEG range and as an update to my bright green 6 YO 18V Ryobi sander which has worked accurately and faultlessly since the day I bought it. My primary reason for going AEG was to make my growing small business have a more professional appearance when customers entered my workshop. To power my 18V AEG Sander I also invested in a drill/driver combo so I had a battery and charger, with the bonus of also updating those tools as well. Unfortunately the 18V AEG Sander was not up to standard. This sander vibrates excessively and is the loudest sander I have used. To power my 18V AEG Sander I also invested in a drill/driver combo so I had a battery and charger, with the bonus of also updating those tools as well. Unfortunately the 18V AEG Sander was not up to standard. This sander vibrates excessively and is the loudest sander I have used. Tha battery is not a snug fit so it it also vibrates and exacerbates the noise and vibration. I am unsure if it is a result of the excessive vibration, but the swirl marks I encountered were also something I had not been subject two from the Ryobi 18V or the Bosch corded I was looking to retire. Dust collection is also very poor. I understand that dust collection can be hit and miss with sanders, the AEG captured virtually nothing in comparison to my others. In addition to the above issue, the ergonomics of the sander are imposible to determine and it is difficult to manage and hold. Not a game changer, but added to the disappontment. After using for a few hours trying to convince myself I had made a good decision going to AEG from my bright green Ryobi, I put it down and finished the job with my Ryobi. I have since returned the sander to Bunnings where, to their credit, they refunded my sander under their customer satisfaction policy. Unfortunately I am now stuck with a drill/driver combo and another battery/charger setup. FYI the sub-compact drill/driver are awesome and intend on leaving positive feedback on them. The biggest problem is I now have to committ to another battery / charger setup should I choose to move to another brand for my sander. In support of my feedback on this AEG sander, I have since found a other similar reviews outlining the noise, vibration, poor ergonomics and dust collection.

Pleasantly surprised
16 February 2021

I upgraded to this from a ryobi one today and was impressed from the moment I turned it on. My shop vac hose (Festool CTMIDI) fitted perfectly. It’s significantly quieter than the ryobi and the vibrations are almost non existent - made me realise how bad my old little ryobi one is! I happily sanded for hours without ending up with sore wrists. The dust collection is brilliant - as advertised. It’s a powerful unit that went through a range of grits (80-800) and left my workpiece looking incredible. This sander far exceeded my expectations, especially given the relatively low cost. Seriously, it’s even better than a Festool sander I once borrowed.

Ripper sander with one minor reservation.
16 February 2024

Very handy sander, just the right size and very convenient with no cord to tangle and drag. Dust collection is surprisingly efficient for such a compact system. There is plenty of power and the soft start helps to avoid damage to the surface you are working on.Just one reservation which is the ergonomics - the handling its not intuitive. The shape of grips etc does not readily come into either one handed or two handed use.

Worked until it didn't.
31 August 2024

Bought this sander because it seemed to be the best bang for buck around this price range - for a little while it was. Worked really well for about 2 hours on and off use over an afternoon.. suddenly made a big *click* noise and the motor stopped. No idea why, it just died fairly suddenly. Wouldn't turn back on at all. Got a refund and grabbed a different brand.Bunnings came in with 10/10 customer service and helped me sort the issue out, which is why I give the stars at all.
