A great bag that sits close and carries comfortably.

I don't live in an area where I can try on packs before ordering them, so I am pretty much at the mercy of reviewers and other customers. I have ordred 6-7 similar packs to compare, and the Aer City Pack Pro is my favorite so far! I need a bag to take to Gencon with me, to carry any purchases made during the day, snacks, a large water bottle, and other edc items. When you are crammed into a convention center with 90,000 people, having a bag that stays close to your body and doesn't hang out very far is very important. The mile after mile walking everyday means that comfort is also of high importance. Aer has a winner with the City Pack Pro!

While a little expensive, I view it as a worthy investment that will last me for easily a decade. This has become my daily carry pack that I use as a teacher in Taiwan, an island that famously rains without warning. The extreme durability and weather resistance of the bag makes me confident that even in the worst downpours, my gear will be safe and dry. As with all other Aer bags, the comfort of the thick, padded straps makes carrying my laptop, gym clothes, and other accessories a breeze. The bag offers a good mix of organization options, with a few pockets for holding smaller items as well as a generously sized middle section that easily holds a few packing cubes if I decide to take a weekend trip. I REALLY wanted to love this pack and keep it forever, but I returned it for a couple reasons that are likely unique to me. First, because of my body shape (I imagine), the buckle on the shoulder strap dug into the inside of my upper arm in a really uncomfortable way. I told AER about it, and they said--honestly--that they'd never heard that complaint before. The buckle they use on this pack does "bulge" a bit, and the pads are thick, so it makes sense. The only other issue I had was that with a lot of weight (i.e., 20+ pounds), the bag kind of "sagged" on my back. Other than that, it was pretty much perfect: great design, great capacity, great materials, comfortable shoulder straps and back panel, and supreme water-resistance features. Luckily, all those advantages are also shared by the AER Travel Pack Pro 3 Small in X-Pac, which I decided to purchase. With its slightly different dimensions and load lifters, that pack doesn't have either of the two issues that the City Pro Pack did (for me at least). It's pretty much a perfect pack, and with the possible addition of the hip belt and rain cover, I think it'll be all I ever need. Either way, I loved the City Pack Pro X-Pac in so many ways, so I'd definitely try it out!!! (PS--I also wanted a pack that can fit under airplane seats, and according to all the reviews, both the City Pack Pro and the Travel Pack 3 Small can do that fairly easily.)

Decent bag but horrible international fees
13 August 2023

Really good bag overall, however there are some issues. Be warned that if you are ordering from the UK for example, there are some exorbitant customs fees on top of VAT and the international shipping fee. It adds a lot to the price and makes the bag quite expensive. The bag is excellent for commuting etc, with lots of handy compartments and a nice design. Its waterproofing is decent, although not 100%, but fine enough for me.One major gripe I have, outside of the customs fees and shipping combo, is that the luggage pass through is TERRIBLE. It’s a horizontal type pass through which makes it very non user friendly when travelling internationally, with a suitcase.Tangibly it’s a fantastic bag, but in hindsight, because of fees and a terrible luggage pass through, ... MoreReally good bag overall, however there are some issues. I would buy it again
11 August 2023

I am happy and would buy it again for my business travel use case. Perfect for 1-bag overnight travel (1-3 nights, maybe more) with laptop. Too big for the office if you are not a business traveler, and probably not big enough if you are traveling for several nights for vacation. The organization is great. Having the water bottle press into the main area is not that big of a deal - I prefer this design having a bottle protrude further out to the side. Yes, compression and load levers would be nice too but for my use case I am happy the pack does not have the clutter and that the price was not higher. I also like that the pack fits under the seat in front of me - makes flying on airlines a no brainer when you are in a later boarding group.

Perfect for long trip business travelers!
22 August 2023

I absolutely love the City Pack Pro X-Pac! I did extensive searching online to find a pack with the size and features that would work for my extensive business travel and settled on this pack. For my week at a time business travel, I need to pack suits, business casual and workout gear so this bag exist to complement my overhead bag. The aesthetics are perfect for business travel, and at a 24 liter capacity, it's roomy enough for everything that won't fit into my overhead. As an added bonus - the orange interior makes it so much easier to see and grab what I want, when I want it. I travel with a 24 oz Hydroflask that easily fits in the water bottle holder and use the other side pocket for keys and quick grab items. Similar to Harini's review...
1 July 2023

Similar to Harini's review 15 days from this review, I, too, experienced the back panel mesh pilling or tearing. I don't believe that I misused the pack or caught it on something rough. Customer Service suggested it was something I wear, but everything I wear is from L'Estrange, and there doesn't seem to be anything that would be rougher than the mesh itself. It is possible that the mesh snagged on something, as Customer Service suggests. However, if that's the case, then I want to note for future customers that the mesh back panel might be more fragile than one would expect, especially for this price and overall quality. My other bags from Minaal and Osprey have not had this issue before. Has anyone else experienced this?

Simple design+solidly built+durable materials
22 August 2023

Really solid zippers and strong fabric. It should hold up over the years. The padded straps are comfortable and the main compartment is spacious. The top and front zippered pockets give easy access to smaller items. Water bottle pocket fits normal bottles. It’s a super tight squeeze for my 1L hydraflask. The bag fits under the smallest airplane seats. The handle at the top and the strap down the back makes traveling easier. It’s my EDC for work. And I’m looking forward to using it as an overnight bag.

Solid bag overall but delivery problematic
15 July 2023

The product itself is decent. It's lightweight, seems well built, solidly waterproof. No issues with the waterproof zippers getting stuck. But the design of the bag as a whole is top heavy, so visually it seems really odd to have a v shape bag. Not sure if this will go away with time and breaking in. The magnetic buckle is also difficult to use with one hand, and the waterbottle area at the side is too small for my Takeda bottle. The biggest gripe I have with the purchase, however, is its international delivery (which is costly for modern standards). Delivery is unreliable and slow. Item took 3 weeks to receive despite Aer FAQ saying 4-5 working days. Its like you buy something on Amazon Prime and instead of ensuring timely delivery to you, they fob you off to work things out yourself with customs and deliveryman. It's really been a frustrating experience. If you are interested in the bag and need international delivery, I suggest you find a reliable alternative seller rather than use this website.
