Overall, this bag is great and Aer obviously puts an insane amount of thought into the design. I'm sure one can get used to it, but being able to quickly and easily opening a bag feels pretty important. My other main issue is perhaps more specific to my use, but I'm sure others would like to know. There is no easily accessible area for a tech pouch (or similar). The larger front compartment is too shallow to fit a full tech pouch, leaving the only other area the main compartment. Depending on how your bag is packed, this isn't an ideal place to be able to quickly grab your pouch when you're on the go. Instead, you have to strategically unzip the full clamshell and pull from the main compartment, potentially disrupting everything else packed inside. It's not the end of the world, but if you're like me and utilize tech pouches etc, it would be nice to have a separate and quickly accessible area for this, which a few other bags I've owned do have. These are not deal breakers but something to think about.

The design is so thoughtful. It’s like a brick and it distributes weight very nicely. It has a very premium feel. It feels like a forever backpack that could be heirloom. It is specious and the magnet connects are nicely done. The bottle holder on the side is a nice expandable option. The bag is water proof and i ran through the rain for a half mile to get to a flight. It proved effective. The only way this bag could get better was if the glasses compartment had a hardened container option that folded into a rigid form. Perhaps something like a moft design. Also if it had an internet of things capability like perhaps a secure pocket with pushed alerts to your cell phone, particularly the front pocket which could possibly be an easy spot for a thief, however i do ... For a weak person they may not appreciate this but to me it adds a rugged element to this elegant design. I’m 6’4” 265 lb and I use it for every day carry of my work laptop, headphones, lunch. I keep the wraps tied down as tight as possible to keep it slim. When i fly i bring a small bag that folds down very small that can be used as a personal item if i need an expansion option. So far i really like this backpack and I’m looking forward to making future trips with a single bag only. Again, this backpack makes me feel like an elegant professional backpacker that can be used for every day carry for those that don’t believe an EDC backpack needs to be a slim profile.

I travel alot and have used a good variety of backpacks for short trips. I saw reviews on this and thought this would be a great replacement for my older one. I regret wasting my hard earned money on it. Theres so many things i can say about it but the ones most frustrating are ….. When i fill the quick access compartments up it takes up a good 15-20% of the inside and when packing often gets in the way and very frustrating. This not only makes the top of the backpack very bulky when you pack it but it also makes it uneven with the bottom and i often have the backpack falling down because its unstable (has more weight at the top of the backpack then at the bottom) so i have to strategically pack things just so the backpack can stay standing upright when setting it down which is incredibly ridiculous. The only positive thing about it is that it is made out of good quality materials. This is the worst purchase i have ever made when it comes to travel and packing and want my money back. The only reason i haven’t returned it is because it comes with a sticker when the backpack is sent out that it has to be unused to be returned.

I have had an Incase that looks somewhat similar, but is much flimsier even though it basically costs about the same. I've been traveling with that thing for almost 8 years, and I absolutely hated it. It wouldn't stand up straight, it had virtually no organization, the straps were lose and would constantly come undone, etc..I have been eyeing the Aer for sometime now, but once I saw the sales for Black Friday, I pulled the trigger and got a chance to use it for the first time, and I am in love. The bag looks great, and the X-Pac was worth it seeing as I live in the Pacific Northwest. The bag looks great, and the X-Pac was worth it seeing as I live in the Pacific Northwest. The large front pocket has tons of little areas for shoving cables, ear buds, and medication, which is great for organization. The inner pocket is also massive; I am able to fit a Medium, Small, and XS Eagle Creek packing cube in the main area and they fit pretty much perfectly in the space! One thing I was worried about was the new magnetic straps that I've seen reviewed. A couple reviewers mentioned that they would come undone, etc., but I actually didn't have this problem despite my bag getting tossed around. As long as the straps were under tension, they were actually surprisingly sturdy. Additionally, the fact that the compression straps are attached behind the zipper means that when they're engaged, they don't just "stretch" the front of the bag--they compress the inner pocket.Other nice details worth mentioning: load lifting straps are a lifesaver, laptop pocket is raised and nicely padded, shoulder straps are firm and supportive, the air tag pocket is a nice addition, the side pocket is great for storing things like wallet/watch when going through airport security, and the "zipper handles" opposite the zipper itself is surprisingly useful once you realize what they're used for (to hold the bag when you zip/unzip the pockets). One of the things I wasn't a fan of: the top pocket, which is covered in felt, is pretty tight when you have the bag packed, which means it'll be challenging to get your sunglasses in/out. I also wished the bottle holder on the side (which is definitely nice) was just a little bit larger--my go-to bottle is just SLIGHTLY too large.Otherwise, this thing is a tank and I plan on using this, well... indefinitely. Great job, Aer!
Love the look of this bag, it’s still new, I travel a ton on planes for work and pleasure. I needed an upgrade from my old ogio that suited me well for 5 years. I wanted something with a bit more space for the quick weekender jobs where I only needed 2 days of clothes. So far I dig the space! So far I have some notes about the functionality and usefulness of the bag. 1, the top handle needs to be closer to the rear between the shoulder straps so it can hang on a bathroom stall at the airport. We all know how short those hooks can be and with the top carry handle being so far towards the middle a majority of bathroom stall hooks won’t reach to hold it, and you know you don’t want to set your nice $200 bag on the floor. 2, the luggage pass through should be ... The way it is now running up and down your spine makes it so you have to turn your bag 90° onto your carryon making it a bit inconvenient to access anything out of your bag, and without things falling out while it’s sitting on your roller carryon. 3, this could just be from it being a new bag and I’m not used to it yet but the zippers from the organizer section and the main compartment are so close together, literally parallel from each other that I find myself always grabbing the wrong zipper to open. I wish there was a bit more separation where the organizer section maybe was a bit less wide or smaller diameter than the main compartment. Not much just a bit so without looking at the bag I knew what section I was digging into. 4, not really a problem “yet” haven’t really dealt with the magnetic clasps much but they are “different” I think the alpine loop type clasps that they use on backpacking bags and the Apple Watch would be an improvement over the magnets. 5, I feel like you could save some weight and space by eliminating the 2 different sections in the laptop compartment. It really just needs to be the padded laptop section inside the zipper like my ogio rss bag. And 6, I’m not 100% of the iPad Pro size but the iPad section in the organizer pocket seems huge, I only have an iPad mini and it disappears into a dark abyss in that pocket.Other than all that, fantastic bag!
Perfect. I've tried a number of different backpacks for travel over the years and there has always been some kind of compromise. For what it's worth, I'm not a hardcore traveler. But I often like to bring several pieces of bulky electronics with me -- a Steam Deck, an ILC camera + lenses, a tablet, headphones, and various and sundry other bits. It all gets a bit bulky and difficult to pack.Originally, I just had a random Osprey backpack, but I found that it was hard to get at stuff at the bottom of the pack. I also had a Peak Design Everyday Backpack, which had some good aspects -- the side access -- but the dividers always left me feeling like i was wasting space inside, and the straps were insanely uncomfortable with any but the lightest of loads. Then there was my Goruck GR1, which opened my eyes to the glory of a full clamshell main compartment with no dividers! But it's not quite deep enough to easily pack my electronics, and the back panel is extremely sweaty if you load it heavily.Which brings us to the Aer Travel Pack 3 Small. It's just slightly deeper than the GR1, which was perfect for storing my steam deck vertically with respect to the backpack's depth. This alone fixed all my issues with the GR1's main compartment. On top of that, the Travel Pack 3 Small has a bunch of extra compartments which I found useful for storing passport/wallet/keys when out and about. But the TP3 still has very comfortable shoulder straps, and seems to heat my back up less than the GR1 did.Generally, I'm just totally satisfied with this backpack. It's hard to imagine something that could be more suited to my specific needs.
I love the size of this pack, its organization, its comfort. Works great for any trip shorter than a week (4-5 days is the sweet spot, depending on the type of trip and what clothing you have to bring) where you are going to be doing a lot of walking/public transport and want to keep your hands free and/or don’t want to deal with a roller bag. The features, style, and comfort make this a great choice for work trips and active vacations alike. This likely goes without saying, but just in case you (like me) came to travel backpacking from years of using a roller bag or duffel bag: backpacks can’t easily pack as much as their brethren due to how they’re constructed. The features, style, and comfort make this a great choice for work trips and active vacations alike. This likely goes without saying, but just in case you (like me) came to travel backpacking from years of using a roller bag or duffel bag: backpacks can’t easily pack as much as their brethren due to how they’re constructed. So if you’re looking for the most efficient carry solution for work trips where you have to bring lots of clothes, or a suit, or multiple pairs of shoes, etc, you’re potentially going to find this bag a bit less conducive to that sort of thing than a carry-on roller bag. It’s still very much possible to pack this bag for those trips, but you’re going to have to get creative with how you fold your clothes, and asking certain pants/shoes to pull double duty. Moving to a backpack is more about reimagining travel than it is about taking the thing that used to be on the floor/by your side and putting it on your back. That said, if you do want to embrace these changes to how you travel, and are looking for a travel backpack that can do it all and do it all in style, look no further than this. As a bonus, it’s also really well-priced when set next to other higher-end travel backpacks of comparable size and feature set, which is amazing considering what you get with this bag, as well as the quality of the materials and craftsmanship. If you get into backpacks, you might own other bags for other purposes - but this one will always be one I’ll come back to frequently, and a purchase I’ll never regret. I’ve always been vaguely annoyed by every travel bag I’ve ever owned for one reason for another - with this one, I’ve only found things I love and appreciate about its thoughtful design and function.
The bag is ALMOST perfect. Love the overall look and feel. It is obvious from the beginning that the quality is worth the overall price tag and that Olive color……SUPER NICE! I use it mainly for work so typically carrying multiple screens which add so much weight to the pack. With that said the straps do such a nice job of lifting the load: soft, breathable, and supportive. My only complaints would be around the water bottle holder and the structure of the bag. Due to lack of elasticity in the water bottle pocket it is common for my Yeti to slip out of there when I either whip the bag around to put it on my back or when the bag tilts over…..which it does constantly. I’m sure it was not designed that way and probably affects the overall comfort of the bag, but man I was hoping. This would have been the ultimate EDC back if so. I think I read somewhere that the other Aer bags may have this feature but unfortunately also come at a significantly smaller capacity and therefore less versatility. Still love the bag though: love the organization, the capacity, the zippers are premium and doesn’t feel so bulky on my back. I’ve received many compliments around the aesthetic and color. Get the OLIVE….so unique without being overdone.
I did a great deal of research before I purchased this bag, as I am sure you, the reader, are doing right now. Unlike many of the people commenting in this section, this bag has NOT exceeded my expectations. The organization, material and thoughtfulness of this bag is excellent, but the first thing I note as a BIG negative is the comfort. In my opinion this bag is not - contrary to what many have proclaimed online - a comfortable bag for carrying around all day. In fact, it is one of the most uncomfortable bags I have ever worn for extended periods. This is a tremendous disappointment as I purchased the TP3S for travel and every day carry (my own "One Bag To Rule Them All type thing). Despite the load lifters, hip straps and sternum strap, this bag when fully loaded is terribly hard on my back and shoulders. Unlike the military and outdoor packs I am used to carrying, this bag gives me a great deal of back compression and that "pulling" sensation away from my back. I purchased the hip straps for this reason, but I have found the hip straps to be essentially useless and for some reason, whether it is my size/frame, or the bag itself, the bag never sits comfortable under a load greater than around 15lbs for longer than half an hour. This bumps it down by 2 stars for me - a bag should be comfortable, but I do recognize that not all bodies are the same. My last issue with this bag is the "Fidlock buckles." They are unreliable and do not do as good of a job at bag compression as their standard plastic clip counterparts. They are prone to coming undone under the combination of tension and backward movement. Meaning that if you have them under tension (which of course you will since they are designed for that) and something brushes against your bag, pushing the buckle slightly in, up or down, the magnetic locks can come undone. I still like the bag, and maybe I myself need to spend a few months with the bag before it breaks in for me, but I am still disappointed in the overall performance. TLDR:: Bag is uncomfortable for long periods of use when loaded over 15lbs. Hip straps were useless for redistributing weight on a 6'0" 195lb person. Magnetic buckles are a gimmick and not as useful as the regular ones.
I performed hours (literally) of research on a travel pack to use both traveling and to and from the campground. I ultimately chose Aer Travel Pack 3 X-Pac because of it's quality, durability and features. This bag holds both iPad and 14" Macbook very well; appears to offer space for a couple inches larger. The accessory pocket is awesome and keeps me organized. The bag is definitely on the heavier side when completely filled but certainly something that wasn't expected. Random small pockets for things that I need to easily grab like passport, candies, etc. Very front pocket has a key clip which is convenient especially for those with key fobs; don't have to hassle with keys at all when carrying this bag around. Main cabin fits my pair of shoes and a couple very light outfits pretty well with addition to the Travel Kit 2 X-Pac. If packing for winter, chances of one pant two shirts being max for comfortability is pretty high. You can probably squeeze more in, just heavy on back/shoulders as it is with this amount. The straps have nice cushion and are more comfortable than any other backpack I've ever had before. The zippers are high quality; the only con is the zippers have dangly things on them. While it makes it easy to grab and zip, the zipper from accessory pocket can get stuck in main cabin pocket and stop you from zipping up. They are almost so strong/sturdy that it sometimes make it more difficult to zip. Certainly not a complaint more so just a review so you know what you are buying. This is a great backpack and I would buy this one again if going through the process again. My wife has a Solgaard travel backpack and this one blows that one out of the water!
