The instructions that come with it makes weak coffee with very little taste, but the annual contests to develop the winning recipe gives some amazing ideas how to brew some awesome coffee with it. I brew upside down with a full aeropress with a 45 second degassing time followed by 90 second brew time followed by 30 second discharge time and then add bypass hot water to get a full cup of hot awesome coffee. I won't brew in any other coffee pot now.

Coffee Tastes Fantastic...but clean-up is a burden

First, you measure out coffee with the great rounded spoon (I still usually spill a few bits), then you insert a little paper filter (where do you find replacements for that?) while you balance the first part on the cup, which isn't easy. There's a little "slip and slide" as you balance with one hand while pouring very hot water with the other. When finished with that step you have to again hold with one hand while you stir the contents with the special stir stick, insert a tight press, and push down. Doesn’t work well, especially for cold-brew.

I bought this to make a quick espresso-like coffee. (I really just wanted any coffee to come out quickly so I could use it for cold brew.)The instructions read that one can make 3 types of coffee with this. A cold brew was one of the three options. My daughter and I took turns trying over and over to squeeze the liquid out of the aeropress into the glass and it was still very light and watered down. It became tougher and tougher to press down on the tube while trying to get the water darker (like coffee) so we could actually drink it.After so much “elbow grease” that we actually thought we were going to break it, it still was very light and just wasn’t worth the effort.Luckily, I had purchased a large, glass pitcher with a metal, mesh strainer inside of it so I ... MoreI bought this to make a quick espresso-like coffee. Since it’s a huge pitcher, I have plenty for the week or more and is so much easier than trying to squeeze any “coffee” through this aeropress. I ended up returning the aeropress.

We’ve been using aeropress for 3 years now. I purchased a new one just in case. I also bought a travel aeropress 2 years ago that I use on my travels to visit my family all over the country. I don’t leave home without it. I live with my grandson and his wife. I’ve had brewed, pour over and pressed coffee. We have the capability of doing all in our home. For his birthday, 3 years ago I decided to purchase him a coffee club membership for a new experience. I wanted to make sure we had filters for whatever method he decided to try the new coffees with. After 2-3 mos they stopped using it and are back using the Aeropress. Along with the new Aeropress I purchased, I also bought the reusable filter. I read it allows for more oils to go through so I’m looking forward to using up the paper filters and trying the reusable filter. Within the next month, I plan on opening our new Aeropress and gifting the old one to the office.

A quick rinse off is all that's needed for the very few grounds left on the plunger. What a pleasant surprise!I have reservations about it being plastic, which is why I hesitated so long before buying one. I suspect in time the seal will wear or degrade and likely doesn't have replaceable components and will have to be discarded, though I don't know if that's the case. Hoping that will be many, many brews in the future. I haven't picked up on any taint at all from the plastic and it's not brittle so think it will survive drops on my hard floor.Good product. Very happy with it.

Most delicious coffee I've ever made!
14 November 2024

It's the best coffee I've ever made. I am so picky about my coffee. I don't like coffee from restaurants or the coffee shops (that I've tried). I just like straight, black coffee. I've been using a nice French Press over the last few years, and I have a good grinder. But it was losing flavor, or maybe my taste buds were petering out. (Never had covid so it's not that.) I started reading here and there, found my way to Reddit. I changed beans, and then I decided to give AeroPress a try. This one at Walmart seems to be the original, no bells and whistles, but the price was bouncing around and I caught it at a good, lower price. I decided to give it a try. Oh my. There's a small learning curve, and my only complaint is that you really only get half a cup of coffee at a time. Maybe a little more. Would likely be a fullish cup if you use something dainty. I still use my French press in the morning so I can have 2-3 cups. But I sure look forward to my afternoon treat, where I make a (half) cup, then another. It's more work, but worth it. I will probably look into buying the larger size. Oh, my other complaint: hard to see the markings to know how much water to pour. I ended up putting a rubber band around the number I want and that works pretty well. I do not weigh everything as they suggest in Reddit, but I might give it a try at some point. Right now, I'm enjoying trying expensive beans.

The Aeropress was quick and easy to use, I definitely recommend:) Even though it will eventually be solely used during camping and travel, my partner and I have been using it for about two weeks now since we just bought a home and most of our appliances (and everything else considering we’re trying to be minimalistic right now) are in a storage unit. This has been honestly the perfect thing for a simple and quick coffee. While you only get a single serving of coffee each use, it’s meant to be easy to travel with and quick to use, so don’t expect large quantities when the gadget itself is barely a foot long. It’s easy to carry with you, my partner has taken it to work twice for his daily second dose of coffee so he doesn’t have to share a coffee pot with his associates, and the flavor results are great (for both of us haha). I’ve been using two filters at a time lately, I can tell a slight difference, but my partner claims that it’s smoother and tastes richer, but to each their own:). Clean-up is fast, it comes with filters (which are also inexpensive when you do have to buy more), and it also comes with a recipe sheet. Despite the reimbursement opportunity that I did receive, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and efficiency of the product. I genuinely believed I was going to have to return it because it wouldn’t work or wouldn’t meet quality expectations, or even that it would never get used. I was proven wrong, and I’m not even upset about it. Hope this helps everyone:) I received product reimbursement for my honest review.

the perfect cup, fast!

I have wanted to try one of these for a very long time, and I was not disappointed. It took me about 5 minutes to orient myself with the pieces and the proper instructions. The press itself, came with a barcode sticker to scan that takes you directly to the manufacturer website so you can see video instruction, which is so helpful. It comes with a scoop and a stir stick. I am really impressed that there is truly no grit in my cup. If I could nit pick, of course I would love a non-plastic product, a clear press to more cleanly see where your water level is (but I do believe there is an aeropress that is specifically more clear), and a larger size to make 2 cups (and I'm sure the XL version also resolves this issue). But for brewing a perfect cup of coffee for one person in under 2 minutes, this is perfect. Cleaning the product is a breeze. You just untwist the filter cap, rinse everything, and let it dry. So perfect. This review was written by a full-time Bed Bath & Beyond employee. I received the product for free in exchange for my honest feedback.
