Kit Features; 2 x marking options - Flown by Sergeant Pilot F H Dean, No. 274 Squadron, Royal Air Force, Sidi Barrani, Egypt, 1941. Rhodesian Air Training Group, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), 1941. Paint call outs for Humbrol Length 200mm, Width 255mm, 127 parts Gun bays open or closed option Control surfaces are posable Cockpit open or closed option 2016 boxing of the 2015 new tooled kit Although overshadowed by the Supermarine Spitfire, the Hawker Hurricane was in fact the RAF's most vital fighter during the early years of WWII. Many of these tough, partly fabric covered monoplane fighters went with the British Expeditionary Force to France in early 1940, & once the Blitzkrieg began they put up a valiant defence against the numerically superior Luftwaffe. Although slower than the Messerchmitt Bf109 & with a less destructive armament, the Hurricane was able to turn tighter, & absorb considerable punishment. During the Battle of Britain it was the RAF's most numerous fighter, mainly tasked with attacking the German bombers & many aces such as Robert Stanford-Tuck, Douglas Bader & later Pat Pattle gained considerable scores with the Hurricane. After the Battle of Brittan ended Hurricanes were used across the world, from the Middle East to Russia & even aboard aircraft carriers as the Sea Hurricane. But the Summer of 1940 will always be seen as the Hurricanes finest hour.
