I love the AKG C1000. I mostly use it to mic my guitar (a Martin D18 acoustic) for live performances. I use the filter to transform it to hypercardoid and it gives the guitar wonderful tone and presence. As it is battery powered, I even use it with a phono jack into my little AER Compact 60 amp (no phantom power) People are always asking me how I get such a great guitar tone. It's simple, start with a great source (the D18 is a mic's best friend), use a great mic, and run the EQ about flat. There is not a guitar pickup on the market that can compare.

Excellent microphone! It appears there are no significant differences between this mic and later iterations of the same model (later models change battery type from 9v to 2-AAs, provide an LED, etc). I am using this mic in recording interviews for radio/web storytelling production. Voices sound great on this mic! I was also delighted to discover excellent side and rear noise reduction (for the standard cardioid configuration). Working the mic close to the interview subject (about 3 inches at about a 45 degree off-axis angle) the sound was magnificent and there was virtually no noise from the room filled with air conditioner and other motor noises (hospital room)! It also has a nice, solid, feel and I suspect that as many reviews state, it is a very durable "workhorse".

Got this as a vocal mic for stage use clipped into a stand. It's a similar quality sound to an SM58 I would say, perhaps a little clearer. The bass cut switch is an absolute necessity as the proximity effect is very noticeable. This mic replaces a Rode NT5 I have used for 10 years in the same application, but unfortunately is nothing like the sound quality. I will save up and buy another Rode next time.

This makes for a great Run-N'-Gun mic without having to worry about being so exact in aiming the camera. I have used this mic for recording an entire table of actors in the studio. Used it for talking head shot. Most importantly, it works great as an off-camera mic. Naturally it is limited to the natural timbre distance of all voices - 18"-24". But it is just so easy to use. Takes the place of dedicated Shotgun, Studio, Overhead mics for me. Within reason. your mileage may vary.
Now this Mic is AWESOME considering its low price. Designed for voice recording and instruments. Gives you that FAT Sound you always wanted. The quality is about the same with more features. Shelf Filter and a (-10dB Cut). It now uses (2) AA Batteries - Finally! My only complaint? The Foam Windscreen is loose and can fall off. Who cares! This thing is great.
Was recommended these microphones as the ideal ones for mic'ing a choir and they have proved to be excellent so far. Clear, great sound and pick up just the vocals/voices you want without extra side sounds and noises. And at a really good price!
Had one years ago, even tried taping the windscreen back on as it still provided a very decent sound. The improvements in the switch and changeover to AA batteries as well as the vocal attachment make it one of the most versatile mic's in my arsenal. Whether voice, amp drums or instruments, it provides clear concise and fully articulated recreation of the original source. You can find more expensive solutions but be hard pressed to find a better one.
I was looking for a decent recording microphone for a mini home studio. I'm not an expert but it's safe to say that I got more than I expected. Crystal clear sound, well built, and it came as described with all the accessories included. If you don't use it in a soundproof ambient it will pick up your neighbours chatting, your heart rate and bowel movement.Jokes aside, delivery was on time. Communication with the seller was straight on point and quick. That being said I am a happy customer, most likely to return in the future.
It's a small diaphragm. So don't expect it to compete with the best large diaphragm mics in your locker. It has excellent noise rejection for a condenser and interesting sounding highs. Kinda silky when you're lucky. It's often used for recording live sound. Very robust. I like also it in the home studio for hi hats. Recently, voice over artist liked it off axis for not recording pops and clicks. Goes for around $100 used on ebay usually. Only downside, many normal mic clips can't hold it. Mic is a bit beefier.
