Everything on the base unit or (Transmitter) comes preset and those controls should not be moved other than setting the volume or (Gain) for the mic for best results. When I need another wireless system this will be the product that i will return to.

I've had this AKG cordless set for a few months now and it's awesome. I use it for my Steinberger Spirit Bass going into a Fender Rumble100. Works perfectly fine. I wish it would take a wider range of input voltages though because I also have a little lavalier mic with mini XLR but I have to really turn up the gain to get some volume. But you can't have everything for this price. But it's a very good system overall. I would certainly recommend it.

I've used this with my active bass twice at rehearsals and it worked well. I think it might be sucking a bit of low end tone, however I have not yet made direct comparisons using my old lead. I still get a good sound, so I will continue to use it. The transmitter feels a little flimsy, so care must be taken with it. I would prefer it to have a standard 1/4" socket rather than the mini BNC connector, as the supplied lead is a bit to long for me. I'd prefer to use a shorter lead. The BNC connected does however feel very sturdy. My bands guitarist also uses one of these, and his guitar sounds great. A word of warning: these units are single channel only, however there are four different frequencies available. If more then one band member is using these, make sure they ... Long story short I needed some affordable (and hopefully reliable) mics quickly. I opted to go with the AKG mics since I had a single unit in the past (which I had the same issue with but not as consistently). Basically whenever I tried to use the mics the RF transmitter signal would like up red and there would be a very loud sharp noise which would not go away. It's very scary when it goes off and comes back out when the speakers are turned up (and possibly can even damage your speakers)I think the issue is some type of electrical interference. I tried using the mic on 4 different occasions and it only worked 3.5 out of 4 times and luckily the .05 time it did was at a wedding (God was just on my side that day) in which I had to plug the unit into a separate speaker ... I was forced back to that copper tether and was very unhappy until I found this inexpensive little UHF system. It's very basic and not the sturdiest transmitter but for the price it can easily be replaced if broken. So far I've been cut out free and have not noticed any noise. Battery lasts a decent amount of time. You could probably mount the receiver on a board if you wanted, it's about 5x5 but it will require its own PSU or a mess of adaptor cables. If you are tired of fighting for signal in the wifi realm take a step back in time and check out this nice little old school wireless ... I wouldn't use this for live sound mission critical vocals without extreme testing on range and interference, with a bit of EQ tweaking, and only in specific circumstances where handling is kept to a minimum. The only real annoyances I have with this mic (and they are minimal) are:1.It has a strange tapered grip that thins to the base more than you'd expect from most mics.2.I don't care for the off/mute/on switch style. It's a slider with the mute or mid position being a bit tough to nail without a great deal of practice. At this price point, when the switch fails I'll keep using it and leave it all to the fader/mute on the mixer end. It has at least been virtually silent as I fumble through the positions.3.I prefer to have every piece of gear I can hooked up with balanced XLR connections. Using TRS which this advertises and all the mixers or interfaces I've used it on also tout balanced input on their line 1/4"sSummary: Darn pleased with this mic. If you aren't doing high price work for discerning audiences, save some money and give it a shot. If you are... we both know you can afford to be looking in a higher price range and that you didn't make it this far into my review anyway.

I bought this hoping it would work as a simple solution to have a remote microphone for our R/C club. Unfortunately, while it seems to work okay, as soon as the microphone is switched off, there is nothing but static coming out of the receiver. We will be unable to use this for its intended purpose, as the microphone would have to stay on, and on Mute, all the time. With the switch recessed, it is easy enough to turn it Off instead of to Mute, which would blast static over our loudspeakers.Needless to say, I am returning this. This is the first time I've had to return a product from B&H.

Now I already had planned on obtaining an extra cord that goes from guitar to transmitter as a back-up, so I soldered a new one up, taped the cord with a loop at the transmitter and that has eliminated the problem so far. Range is good, up to 100ft., but I found after 40 ft. or so the delay was difficult to keep time. I would have given 5 stars, but due to the cord issue I'm giving it 4.
