I have several Akubra hats (Arena, Woomera, Riverina) that have the larger brim size and I like and use them all but I wanted something with a slightly smaller brim so I ordered the Cattleman. The Cattleman is a little more comfortable for me to wear into town yet out in the sun it still gives excellent protection. I am 67 years old and I am embarrassed to say that it took me too long before I started paying attention to sun damage. I have had several surgeries on my nose because of basal cell so now I do not go outside without a broad brimmed hat. I feel comfortable in the Cattleman in town and out. I have purchased from Hats by the 100 twice. Each time the order was processed quickly and arrived well packed and in the time frame they promised. I have had no problems at all with my orders. The hat is a stiff hat which requires some breaking in. ( I have the Avalon which is a soft felt) The quality of the Akubra brand is second to none. I have three and would never hesitate to order more.The hat is great, the colour is as shown, the quality is top notch. The comfort will improve once is shapes to my head lol. But looks great and I look forward to wearing this lid everywhere!Shipping to Canada was easy and quick.

The kids love their hats, my granddaughter just loves her pink akubra. The three boys won't take them off, yep city kids who think it is just brilliant, not caps that give no protection. I ordered one day and was told by a lovely man that the hats would be picked the following day and I should receive in two to three days. No, I received the hats the very next day (I live on an island off Brisbane). Incredible service and people who are just a delight to deal with. Thank you. My first Akubra of 28 years (down under) needed upgraded. Went with more shade and ventilation. Live in Az. The Cattleman Bran is not disappointing. Keeping my head cool in 90F.Is cooler than my Stetson straw. May not make the summer cut but we'll see. Went a little loose on fit for shrinkage on sweat factor. Lots of positive remarks from passerby. Color doesn't show the dust/dirt. Great everyday hat. Have to cover up the skin due to multiple melanomas and the brim size and shape does a great job. Took 10 days to get shipped on the low cost option. Packing is minimalist but hat is bomb proof and can't beat the price. Buy this hat if you need sun protection and want a style that will last and look great for decades to come.
I think Akubra has a reputation amongst hat aficionados for being one of the best brands in the world. I feel this is well deserved.The felt body is good quality and very durable. Water just beads off, so great in the British weather. The craftsmanship of the other components (brim binding, hatband, sweatband, lining) is all good quality. I didn't want the brim binding, so I took it off and refelted the edge to hide the stitching holes and that worked fine.My only complaint is that Akubra don't produce hats in a long oval (but I stretched mine to fit fine).
I ordered the Cattleman in Fawn and was very happy with it, so I ordered another one in sand. Unfortunately, the sizing of this one is different and it is very tight on my head (both hats are a 59). If I lived in Australia, I would have exchanged it, but not really worth returning it all the way from the United States. I have been using a hat stretcher, and it seems to be slowly working. Also, I noticed that the crown of the hat is noticeably shorter than my other one. Not a big deal, but considering the high cost of the hat, I was expecting it to be perfect like the first one. Ultimately, if I can get it to fit comfortably, I will be happy. I would have given it five stars otherwise.
For my daughters the horse lovers, I purchased two Akubras: a Cattleman hat in the sand color, and a Snowy River model in glen grey color. When they arrived, we received just what we expected: two terrific toppers! The hats are truly handsome, well-shaped, lightweight and comfortable. The colors are perfect. The daughters love them. Recently, they attended a large equestrian event, sporting their new Akubras much of the time. People would follow the girls by their hats through the crowds, to ask where they bought such splendid headgear.
This is my fourth Akubra and the third that I’ve bought from Hats By The Hundred and, even though I’m in the USA, I prefer buying them from your store!! Shipping is actually much quicker than you might think and a great tracking system to follow the package. Great dealing with Hats by the 100. My hat arrived in Dundas Ontario Canada in 17 days. My hat is in pristine condition due to the care and the great packaging by “The Hat Team” I love the Bran colour and the hat rocks. Already getting looks minutes after putting it on.
