I wanted a stainless steel Moka pot instead of the typical aluminum so I paid more and went for this one. There’s a definite learning curve for the Moka pot with regard to grind size and other things, but once you’ve figured it out it’s well worth it. I do use hot water in the base and then put it on med/low heat with the lid up so I can see when it’s time to remove it from the stove.

Hip bauhaus looks, an element of surprise in the design that is continually appealing, and absolutely wonderful coffee. Use a very dark roast, nice oily beans, and grind (fine) immediately prior to using. A splendidly useful tool from the 1970s that has a timeless quality; stylized, yes, but no anachronism, even as it approaches a half-century in production.Crema shipped the item quickly (to U.S.) at a great price. It is a genuine Italian-made Alessi. I've been using mine for months and I have no reason to believe it won't last for decades, and outlast me in the bargain.

The espresso maker with its clear design language prepares the best coffee for us. It is used daily by us and can be easily dismantled and cleaned. The insert for preparing only one cup also works very well, but you have to be careful not to bend the insert. The sieve plate could be made of a stronger stainless steel plate. Nevertheless you get top quality for a fair price. In the household of my parents the same cooker can be found since many years. This was also the reason why we bought the stove. It is durable and therefore the price is justified.

I initially didn't see what all the fuss was about. I mean, how can one small stove top coffee maker be a game changer. Especially when it cost over $100.... I really didn't want to spend that kind of money. But I had a Venus Bialetti and it was horrid. It leaked around/down the handle when brewing and trying to pour coffee. This Alessi 6 cup is just so perfectly designed I see why its in MOMA. It goes together and comes apart very quickly and easily. It cleans easily. I did have to mess with the gasket and filter on the bottom until I found what works to get them out/apart. I use a Lodge cast iron cleaning tool, you know the small hard vinyl scrapers for inside cast iron skillets? Well the edge of one of those pushed just strongly into the gasket forces it up and ... MoreI initially didn't see what all the fuss was about. Well the edge of one of those pushed just strongly into the gasket forces it up and pops out of the bottom and Voila! you clean it. The coffee I have made in this pot is excellent. Strong espresso, cappuccino, decaf and regular brew. I can make myself one large very strong brew and fill my travel mug in the a.m. and head out for the day knowing I have my jolt of caffeine. I will be buying more of these for wedding gifts. They are just a wonderful kitchen tool.
The previous version we had very many years in use and now had to switch to the version for induction. All around perfect function: very fast cooking, the buckling mechanism is excellent. That there are spare parts and therefore the cooker is virtually eternal - that is sustainable combined with design and function!
We have been using this espresso pot in various sizes for years. With the old models the bottom fold became leaky after some time. Nobody knew why - maybe overheating. Then we switched to the cheap aluminium classic, but I didn't like the design or the taste of the aluminium pot.The 9090 simply has a great unbeatable design and it is very practical to use, so I ordered it here at Connox again. So far everything works - but this time it is not the bottom seam but (luckily only) the rubber seal that does not seal. This is a bit annoying, but not too bad.
Dont believe because of the hype and the price tag that this makes coffee any better than any other coffee maker , because it doesn't . The coffee is much the same or very slightly worse . I bought because I wanted to get away from the made in china electric rubbish that lasts five minutes and because I DID believe the hype . Its ok and I will stick with it now , I am out of the Chinese rubbish loop !
Ive used this same product for over 35 years and it never disappoints. The design is timeless, quality superb and the coffe is fantastic ( providing good Italian espresso is used). Bought another as a back up.
I had a wanted a traditional stove top espresso pot for ages but I didn't want aluminium so began to research stainless steel. When I saw this Alessi I thought the design was so beautiful but as it is expensive, I researched a lot of reviews and also watched some youtube footage - the deciding point for me was the discovery that instead of the usual tricky screw thread connection, it has very easy 'click to lock' system, which works every time without flaw. There is no steam leaking out of releasable connection and the pot is easy to open even when still hot. This is particularly brilliant for me as I have very weak wrists following carpal tunnel op and find it simply impossible to unscrew my daughter's more traditional stove top espresso pot. This is particularly brilliant for me as I have very weak wrists following carpal tunnel op and find it simply impossible to unscrew my daughter's more traditional stove top espresso pot. Although this is 6 cup size, do remember these are espresso cups - tiny but very strong. If you want a more Americano style, simply pour one-third to half a mug full and top up with hot water. And if you want to make a smaller quantity there is a reducer filter for the coffee chamber. This pot makes wonderful traditional Italian style coffee in moments - it only needs a very low heat - and no wires or electrical systems to go wrong. Oh, and it pours beautifully without a single drip.
The Sapper is a beautiful thing. After a lifetime of the "regular" stovetop moka pot, I have finally said - you know what? It's time for something better. The other one made ok coffee, drinkable, but it was usually a 2 person effort to unscrew the thing. Done with that! So, the Sapper has the amazing feature of a snap on bottom (watch youtube vids). The espresso is elegant. Perfect every time. I used to have bad coffee blues every so often with the other one, but not so with this. GET IT!!! And, the seller I bought it from was totally top-knotch. Shipped super fast! thank you!!!
