These headphones have decent imaging to pinpoint locations, have a small mount of leakage but you shouldn't have to worry about distracting others around you. Interesting design, and good comfort. The stock tuning is pretty dark, lowering the bass will improve the audio by a bit. This is my second unit due to the prior unit having some really poor touch control issues. I have found that swiping directly on the Alienware logo produced the best effects so if you're having issues, try that. I've used other capacitive touch controls like on the Sony XM4, and those are leaps and bounds better compaired to these. Once situated on your head, they're very comfortable and I have worn them for several hours with little discomfort. The multiple ways to connect are great, but notice that if you're using the wire, the boom mic doesn't function. Besides the minor dark sound profile, and possibly finicky touch controls; the headphones have a good comfort level and produce a good sense of imaging besides having very minimal sound stage. It's not bad for a $200 pair of active ANC gaming-centric headphone. I can recommend them.

It’s soft and smooth to the touch. The headphones earcups also fold flat to sit more comfortably when placed around the neck. So, what about the sound quality, well actually it’s first-class. The Alienware’s are clear and direct, delivering a sharp and energetic sound with plenty of substance. They have many features, including the touch-sensitive panel on the right ear cup for controls. For instance, hold your hand to it and it'll quieten what's playing so you can hear the outside world.Alienware’s Active Noise Cancelling works really well for me, cutting external ambient noise, in fact even without listening to audio the Active Noise Cancelling, helps with the filling of a secluded peaceful environment, so allowing me to concentrate on the task in hand.I have to say I’ve also had these comfortable headphones on for sixteen hours in a day, with no issues, to be honest I hadn’t realised that I was still wearing them. The Alienware Tri-Mode Headset Connectivity, basically means you can connect to the USB-C Wireless Dongle, plus Bluetooth or a 3.5mm jack. The USB-C Wireless Dongle connection delivers the best sound quality by far, although I have found you have to increase the volume levels substantially, compared to Bluetooth or the 3.5mm jack.Having said that, there is absolutely no audio distortion with increased volume levels. Also, I’ve seen somewhere that people were experiencing audio lag while watching videos, however, I haven’t experienced any delay problems whilst using both the dongle or Bluetooth. There could be several reasons for this, perhaps a firmware update, or pairing the headphones with a Bluetooth device other than one equipped with the latest Bluetooth 5.2Alienware Tri-Mode Wireless Headset, actually comes with three microphones, one internal and two external, a detachable wired in-line mic, and a detachable boom microphone. All three mics are great for most recording environments, taking calls, voice commands, speech etc. However, the detachable boom microphone with A.I Noise Reduction, is by far the best option here, the noise reduction feature works extremely well for instance, taking phone calls speaking to family or friends, they don’t have to listen to dogs barking, kids playing or even traffic noise. For me personally in my studio, I find them particularly impressive for recording voiceovers, or dictation. As a bonus tip: if you were to place the headphones around your neck with the boom mike attached, then turn the left earcup upwards, the boom mike is conveniently in front of your mouthPreviously I said, these premium headphones are all I hoped for and more, is there more, well yes, that accolade has to go to the list of extras.Alienware have Included the following accessories:USB-C Wireless dongleUSB-A to USB-C adapter, (very handy)Detachable boom microphone with Noise Reduction1.5 Meters of wired 3.5mm jack in-line audio with a mic that incorporates a mute button2 Meters of high-quality USB-C to USB-A charging cable, (always useful}Soft carry pouchAs a side note, the headphones were held in with Velcro straps, which are useful for cable tiesAgain, all included within the box, this represents excellent value for money, well done Alienware.Alienware Tri-Mode Wireless Gaming Headset - AW920HIn my opinion these are one of the best headphones I have ever purchased, equally on power with the likes of Sony or Sennheiser for build and sound quality. Speaking of which, the sound is glorious. The Active Noise Cancelling from these headphones works well, as does the A.I Noise Reduction on the Detachable boom microphone. For the money, they're a virtually faultless pair of headphones.

The headphones have a nice design, in-line with other Alienware products so they make a nice addition to someone with an AW X15/17 laptop and accessories. They are also very comfortable, although, they heat up your ears after moderate usage because of their insulating faux-leather ear cups. It would have been much better if Dell used some textile breathable ear pads. The connectivity options are good, they can connect to any mobile device via Bluetooth and also through wireless, using the supplied USB-C dongle.I did not test their mic quality so I cannot speak for that, however, the sound quality of these headphones is their major issue. They are too bass heavy, lacking clarity, openness and spatiality. Great headset...when it works. Tons of firmware issues, need to find ALL the updates possible for this headphones first to interact properly. Then, on Discord, whenever there is a connection problem and your headset reconnects, the mic stops working. This used to flabbergast me, and I would have to unplug, replug, turn off, turn on the headset for 10-15 minutes before it started working again. But now, I find you can just mute/unmute to get it working again. From my research, this is because this headset uses some sort of new mechanism for turning off the mic while you are not speaking, and Discord loses the connection to the mic entirely. Thus it is not looking for sound when you speak. This issue has become minor since I found the mute/unmute fix.Another issue ... MoreGreat headset...when it works. I like this headset so much I'm considering keeping it even with this glaring issue. Part of the reason it's okay is because it really DOES charge fast. I think in 15 minutes you get to like 98% charge or something like that. But again, you lose it in basically one long session of gaming.I want to love this headset, but the battery life makes it just alright to me.
I got these to replace my current gaming headset, mostly because I wanted to go wireless. I have to say I'm very impressed with the sound quality, so much so that I use them as my main headset with my computer and phone! The option to use 2.4GHz as well as Bluetooth to connect is really convenient.I personally like the style, they feel really well built and aren't heavy. They also don't get too hot which is great! I've gotten positive comments about their look when I'm on meetings, people especially like the lighting of the Alienware heads. For the microphone, I haven't used it. I use an external microphone so I can't comment on that. The only con is I find I need to charge them frequently but I also use them daily for 5+ hours. I still feel like the battery life is less then advertised but I haven't calculated. The Alienware software on my PC bugs and always shows the battery at 0% so I can't rely on that to know when they are charger fully. I also don't use ANC.Overall I'm very happy with them. The sound quality is great which was the main factor for me. They're comfortable and I love the design so definitely would recommend them!
Headphones have excellent sound quality, and really feel nice to hold/touch. The headband frame is obviously made from metal, so there’s no worry of breaking. The ear pads and headband padding feel good, but can get slightly hot with long use.The ANC is pretty decent (Mutes PC fan noises, which is to my understanding is the primary need. But don’t expect absolute silence if you’re in an airplane or near a construction site). Touch control is pretty cool, but does take some getting used to finding the best responsive spot. Having a physical mute and ANC are good though, as it makes it easy for your hands to use them without taking the headphones off. No comment on the switching between Bluetooth and dongle, as I’ve only used this only with my computer by dongle so far.I don’t use the mic that much, so I like how I can completely remove the boom mic and reattach it when needed. You can technically use the mic imbedded in the headphone, but the sound quality is much better with the boom mic. There is a red indicator light at the end of the mic if its on mute, which is nice to have as well.Battery unfortunately doesn’t feel like the 55hours advertised, although I know that using the lighting is part of it. To give credit however, they do still last more than just a full day of use.The only “complaint” I would have is that the headphone size is a bit on the small for my big ears, so there’s not much space. My AW988 was nicely roomier in comparison, albeit I reckon the tighter aspect of these AW920 is for the ANC to work better. As a final comment, I will admit its a bit pricey but I’d say personally these are worth it. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them so far. If you’re on the fence, go ahead and buy them.
I enjoy the wireless headset, its comfortable and the noise cancelling feature works great. The mic has a red light for when its off which is a handy feature, and there are touch features on the ear peice its self. The software however is VERY fustrating. Every morning since I've bought it the headsets software says it needs to be updated. Since I am not my admin I have to wait to have them come and try to update the software. I have had them enter their admin passwords in on the initial window whenby computer starts up but then whenI attempt to update the software the button seems to not work. The one time I had ignored the start up pop up for the software to be updated, i pressed the update button and had my admin enter their password. At that time the button ... MoreI enjoy the wireless headset, its comfortable and the noise cancelling feature works great. At that time the button seemed to work since the headsets lights started to respond it took about 5-8 mins before it stoped flashing but did not give a conclusion window simply exited out of the update window. The next day it appeared to need the same update again. ALSO, the headset will verbally tell me that it is low on batter whenit stillhad 60% left, and attemptto go into battery saving mode. Itis extremely irritating because the software shows it is NOT low battery. I would liketo see thisfixed or some way to updatethe software because this is becoming a pain while at work. I've wasted too much time trying to update a program that will not respond when the start up pop up is confirmed by my admin. Highly impractical for a work computer that the owneris not the admin.
Pretty darn good headset. To my tired old ears, the sound quality is good. I wear mine for both listening to music & TV, as well as (with the AW name, well, Duh!) gaming! LOL!! About the only complaints I have are as follows:1. The pads on headset are too small for my entire ear to fit inside, so my ears get squished and sore. And no, I don't have particularly large ears nor do they do the Dumbo thing.2. There are no bass/treble controls. My hearing isn't the best (Armorer & Machine Gunner in the Vietnam Conflict Era of the USMC. Lots of loud banging!) Being able to adjust the B/T levels is always a good thing; separate controls for each side of the headphone would be Ace!3. The dual microphones...I've found that turning off the boom mic *DOES NOT* always turn ... MorePretty darn good headset. To my tired old ears, the sound quality is good. The dual microphones...I've found that turning off the boom mic *DOES NOT* always turn the mic inside the headset off! I've been embarrassed several times as I mumble, grumble, and swear to myself out loud, thinking the mic was turned off. And my team mates or folks in the gaming area were exposed to .... um, shall we say, Salty language. As many non-active-duty Marines find, our language stays "salty," even though years or decades have passed since we were last on Active Duty. LOL!!!Anyway, after twiddling around with settings in my computer, I found the right setting that usually shuts off both mics, and I don't often have to go back and twiddle around again. All in all, I'd give a qualified 'do recommend' for the purchase of the headset.
Best sounding gaming headphones I've owned, and Dolby Atmos is nice. Design is nice and sleek, battery is decent, charging is fast. The boom mic is a bit annoying it doesn't retract back into the device like the old one and is a separate unit but that's not a deal breaker. The tri mode works very well, switching between dongle and BT is very easy with the switch. The headset is quite comfortable, can wear it for a few hours before it starts to get sweaty around my ears. The touch controls are next to useless though. Usually takes 3-4 tries for it to register the play/pause, usually takes 2-3 tries to register the light toggle setting. Volume and skipping controls work maybe once every 50 swipes, so basically useless. I've learned to just ignore them, but you need ... MoreBest sounding gaming headphones I've owned, and Dolby Atmos is nice. Design is nice and sleek, battery is decent, charging is fast. I've learned to just ignore them, but you need to be careful taking the headset off as it sometimes decides to register a tap if you touch it and it decides to work.ANC isn't bad. Not as good as other headphones but good enough to make a difference so I'm happy with them.Overall a great product and quite happy.
I had originally got this Alienware Tri-Mode wireless gaming set for my gamer husband, but it is loved by my whole family! To begin the box and packaging is truly out of this world! The box is incredibly sturdy and has different compartments for perfectly fitting and organizing all pieces. Even the charger is exceptional quality and reinforced! All accessories fit in a beautiful, soft, drawstring bag that even has a separate compartment on the inside for all the smaller accessories. The charging time is super fast and the battery lasts a long time! My husband loves using it when playing his games and loves the different options to either plug in or wireless including the microphone. I love the ability to either listen to music or go hands free and talk on the phone ... MoreI had originally got this Alienware Tri-Mode wireless gaming set for my gamer husband, but it is loved by my whole family! My husband loves using it when playing his games and loves the different options to either plug in or wireless including the microphone. I love the ability to either listen to music or go hands free and talk on the phone while folding laundry, washing dishes, etc. Our daughter loves how soft it is aswell as the ability to have “quiet time” and either watch a movie, play a game, listen to music or just wear them without anything being on. Not to mention she enjoys watching the aliens on the sides light up and change colors. The headset is super soft and easy to use! As far as volume goes about 1/2 to 3/4 is all you need. Very high quality and it’s worth every penny!!
