I bought this laptop earlier this year in January or December was so excited about this machine because of my online research and after watching tons of review videos on different platforms. After buying this machine I started working basically 3d rendering and stuff related to this field. After using this laptop for a week windows updates automatically which is a normal thing with laptops but after update Alienware command center stopped working. I tried all methods available on internet to resolve this issue but non of them worked. Asked Alienware team for help but their response was same as I used the methods of make it working. On dells.com/software it says m15r7 isn't supported for Alienware command center and with out it this machine is pretty much useless and wastage of money.

As a long time Alienware user (from the m17x R1 to the 13 r3 and a lot more in between to now having the privileged of owning the m15 r5 and m15 r7), I was initially disappointed to Alienware's movement towards their parent company Dell. However, once I saw what they were brewing underneath, I felt very justified. Gone are the days of metal and anodized aluminium. No more free ProSupport warranty and no more long throw, excellent keyboard and thick chassis with barely a fan noise. In return, we got a mind-blowing performance, one that can rival that of a desktop but on the go. A new somewhat mechanical keyboard from cherry, a flimsy but beautiful top cover on the bright, clear and fast display. A cooling performance that is un-Alienware in it's shoutyness and high ... And to contempt with, it is cheaper than it's predecessor and if you don't want the alien logo but still want the excellent performance, Alienware finally got a little brother that is more sensible in the form of the Dell G series.

I purchased my Alienware m15 r7 (17-12700h, 16 GB ram, 1 TB SSD, Nvidia 3080ti, QHD 240hz display and cherry mx keyboard) on sale and I got 1 year premium plus and accidental coverage for free. I also got a free Alienware mouse and COD MW2 bundle. I ended up upgrading the ram to crucial 32 GB and adding an additional Samsung 980 pro 1TB SSD myself as it was significantly cheaper to purchase from other retailers. Upgrading was so easy that even a newbie can do it on their 1st try. Performance is just simply amazing. This beast ran every game I tested on ultra settings at 1440p at well over 80 FPS. Games tested- Watchdogs Legion, Assassins Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Forza Horizon 5. The Display is absolutely beautiful and really brings out the details in games. This ... This laptop handles editing with lightroom and photoshop brilliantly. The typing experience with cherry mx keyboard is great. The biggest con for this laptop is the speakers are just garbage. My phone sounds better than these horrible speakers. I would recommend purchasing headphones. I was disappointed with sound as this laptop is expensive. Another con is that trackpad is not backlit. its disappointingly small and just kills the rgb vibe. Another big con is that in Canada there is no option to chose the slim 240w power supply. instead, you are given a giant brick. I mean it is enormous. At the price I would expect a slimmer Power supply but Alienware just disappointed. Overall an amazing laptop. Worth every penny for the powerhouse this laptop is.

Good performance.Pretty loud however. The alienware software is pretty useless and doesn't really control the fans very well, but there is alternative open source software to make this bearable. It's worth noting, there isn't a fan controller onboard as far as I am aware, so all fan controls are pushed to the motherboards internal controller, making it slightly more difficult to get an even fan curve. Alienware could sort their software to make this better as other open source providers have done it, and they could do with a rework of the entire app.No type-c charging, even from a powerful enough dock. And there is an error that appears on every boot to tell you this... Which is highly frustrating. This error even happens when you have the mains power in. You ... You can change a bios setting to skip this warning, though this still appears and delays booting to the OS.All in all, a good purchase and would buy again. But definitely needs a bit of customisation to get rid of bloat and the awful alienware software.
This model is pretty much great hardware, but there is few simple but critical issues that is very annoying, I hope all is fixable and be better in future (as all is UEFI firmware related). First one is that when external USB-C monitor is connected (that is also can provide power), UEFI is always prompting that there is power source connected to the port that doesn't support it - this is ok, but there is no option to bypass it, so every boot you have to confirm that this is ok and continue to boot, this is very annoying, and other option to disconnect monitor on every boot like in stone age. So you can't use your external keyboard in pre boot environment. Another issue (that is pretty much out of official support I get it) is with the Linux sound driver, that is not working out of the box, until you can provide special option for sound driver on boot, easily fixable but still the fault is coming from UEFI. Please fix it.
Ever since I've gotten this computer, I've been ecstatic. I've been able to play games I never could have imagined, do things my laptop could have never dreamed of. Yet, Everything always felt like it came to a weird boil. Windows 11 is my main gripe with this PC; The fact it was forced even moreso. I'm not exactly certain what has happened with this computer, but for some reason, on multiple occasions, Windows 11 will just randomly fail to boot correctly. I genuinely feel like this hampers the mood sometimes, where I'd boot it up, just to be met with a screen recommending me to restart the PC, just for a chance to get the same screen after the restart. The functions that the desktop gives me is ecstatic, and having this rainbow fridge just casually sitting on my desk feels amazing sometimes. But, when it just proceeds to fail (Which I don't completely blame on Dell, Microsoft has their dirty mitts in there I'm sure) It can't help but stress me out a bit, being afraid of if a file on my pc has been corrupted or not. For additional context; I have factory reset this PC on multiple occasions, and still, the issue persists.
After Dell botched the repairs by sending bad quality parts, they sent me a refurbished laptop with discoloration next to the track pad on the palm rest area (even though I was told it's new) with cheaper/worse quality parts. The screen is visibly dimmer and less sharp with massive backlight bleed (BOE Panel instead of LG). The CPU scored up to 40% less in Timespy and CInebench. When I complained about this, I was told to either keep this replacement unit or keep the original one and hope they manage to fix it. If I keep the original one, they will not send another replacement in the future. They legit told me that they don't guarantee performance. As long as the parts pass the diagnostics, they work. Doesn't matter if it can't even run a potato of a game, or lags ... Doesn't matter if it can't even run a potato of a game, or lags and stutters quite often while running basic programs since they are third party.I expected to have comparable performance with a replacement laptop, something I had originally paid for. However Dell has turned this into a lottery. If I was buying this brand new, I'd return it in a heartbeat. But Dell has my money and I have little choice in the matter.

I'll keep this short, I have owned Alienware in the past, and after trying several Asus, I finally decided to wait for a sale and just buy Alienware again. Well I purchased this Model from a local Bestbuy. I went through so many problems from minor backlight bleed that I was willing to live with, to issues with crackling in speakers, to lights shutting off for Alienware power button and lights on back. I had to shutdown and reboot the laptop to get those lights to come back on, even reinstalling Alienware command center didn't work. And I had to manually turn Optimus on, to stop the unit from freezing for 5 seconds when switching between igpu to dgpu and back. And I had to manually turn Optimus on, to stop the unit from freezing for 5 seconds when switching between igpu to dgpu and back. Finally I got it to a livable state and suddenly I noticed a dead pixel... then I noticed not just one more, but 8 dead pixels! I reluctantly exchanged it. The second unit I booted had a deformation in the top left screen; I immediately exchanged it for the third unit. Praying that nothing was wrong, I hit the boot button and there in the center of the screen was a dead pixel, surrounding that screen was the worst backlight bleed I've seen on any of their units. I returned it. I give up finding a gaming laptop with no quality control issues. I blame the people dell partnered with (BOE), not dell directly, for the screen issues. I sincerely hope the quality control issues for modern screens gets corrected in the next couple years, I guess I will just have to build another desktop for now...
