I just purchase an induction stove; it is amazing and decided to move away from an electric kettle to a on the stove kettle, the All Clad on the stove kettle hits all the check marks, looks, easy of clean, and the whistle is not too annoying, not too loud just right. The biggest selling point was the amazing price of this kettle from Kitchen Smart, could have paid more for this kettle at Amazon or other retailers and at the price they wanted I do not believe this is the kettle I would have purchased, Kitchen Smart price was the sweet spot in pricing for me.

This kettle was purchased to replace a 25-year-old Revere stainless and copper kettle that worked until the plastic lever and whistle broke (again over 25 years after purchase). Since this All-Clad had such a sturdy handle, and what seemed to be thicker stainless steel. I expected it to last at least, what, 10 years! I take decent care of it, and descale about quarterly when we do the coffee maker.Generally, manufactured products are clear about where they are made. For this, I cannot tell on the website where it was manufactured. Generally, stainless steel is just that when cared for. It won't rust through in a couple of years of general domestic household use! Frankly, yes, at about one fifth of what we paid. It still looks really nice; the rivets, lid, and whistler top are fine after two years. I suspect All-Clad got gypped by a foreign manufacturer. I hope this tawdry-bottomed kettle isn't what their standards and specifications stipulated.

I had my first kettle like this for 6 years and it served me beautifully. I burned it maybe 20 times and the last time it was sitting on the burner for maybe an hour without the water and survived. Just a little easy off spray and looked great again with one exception - whistle spring failed. Pros: great durable product and finish, 2 qts, wide bottom, boils quickly. Cons: Metal handle requires glove most of the time

I bought based on the important points addressed in positive reviews, but was very disappointed. Those reviews must be either for a completely different product (did they change the manufacturer?), or a marketing ploy, because they bear no semblance to reality.1) Supposedly the handle didn't get hot, and you wouldn't need to use a potholder (although it looked all-metal, I thought there was some isolation inside the handle which made it possible?) - NOT TRUE. Not only the handle gets extremely hot and impossible to use without a potholder, but it stays very hot for a very long time. (Yes, even if you use a very low setting on the burner, even if you wait for it to cool down. The handle will BURN your hand, no way out of it.)2) Supposedly the whistle didn't get ... MoreI bought based on the important points addressed in positive reviews, but was very disappointed. (Yes, even if you use a very low setting on the burner, even if you wait for it to cool down. The lever of the whistle also gets burning hot - and due to a design flaw, it's very hard to avoid touching the red-hot handle when pressing down the whistle's lever.3) Supposedly the kettle was fast to heat up and boil water - NOT TRUE for a gas stove. The kettle is heavy, but it behaved more like a cheap aluminum pot - it took a long time to heat up and boil, compared to a similar size double-layer steel kettle I used previously. Perhaps this is due to the oversized bottom, which overlaps the gas burner, or because the material used to make All-Clad kettle isn't as heat-efficient.4) Loud whistle, easy to clean, gorgeous - NOT QUITE. Hard to clean inside and out. Impossible to empty all water out from the inside; ugly water spots on the outside, which require a lot of buffing/shining; and unimpressive whistle. Our family are avid tea drinkers, so I need a product I can USE, with ease. Sorry to say, this was not it.I was seriously annoyed at misleading positive hype, and that this kettle - which I bought after careful research, at an awesome price (great sale with coupons) - turned out such a lemon. After returning this poorly designed product, I got a Kitchen Aid kettle instead of this one, unfortunately outside of Macy's. While not perfect and a bit small for our needs, a Kitchen Aid kettle is a joy to use, compared to this sorry mess. Come on, Macy's, you can offer a better selection of kettles than this!
Okay, the minus is that it's heavy. And, the plus is that it's heavy. At this point, I'll take heavy. Meaning, I just went through the hassle of squabbling over and returning 2 other light weight stainless tea kettles that were such chintzy tinfoil garbage (and one didn't even work as advertised on my induction range, and both made the water taste like metal.) If you have an induction range like me, the handle on this does NOT get hot. The whistle works fine. The lid fits tightly and doesn't get too hot, either. It looks and feels high end. And, it's BIG and kinda heavy. Bigger than the smaller rings on my induction range.
I have had this kettle for a year now (purchased at williams sonoma) and I hate it. It pours so roughly, that it spills BOILING WATER all over, so you have to be super careful when pouring. It seems like there is no way for air to go in as it pours, so bubbles come in through the spout, and it makes a mess. Also, the spring that holds the whistle open when you're pouring is very weak, and sometimes it snaps closed as you're pouring water, also spraying you with boiling liquid. I HATE this kettle so much, and it is even worst because it's very expensive.
I LOVE my new teakettle! Not only does it look great in my kitchen but it is easy to maintain its beautuful finush with a quick wipe. I am very busy with a few simultaneous tasks and love the gentle whistle telling me its tea time!I was looking at another kettle as well, but chose this one because my sister has it and i was very familiar with its quality and operation. Love it!
I bought this at my wits end. My family loves tea, but they have ruined numerous tea kettles both expensive and inexpensive through the years. They all had one thing in common - some part that was plastic/rubber and susceptible to melting when left too long on the stove. I chose this kettle for a couple of simple reasons. First of all it has no plastic or rubber parts that could melt off. Secondly, the base is sufficiently large to cover the whole burner on my gas stove, so no flames leaping up over the sides when the impatient aforementioned family turns the heat up to high. Finally, it is an attractive kettle, and generally speaking, stainless is not that difficult to clean, so it can sit out on the stove ready for action. I do not mind if we have to use a hot pad ... MoreI bought this at my wits end. My family loves tea, but they have ruined numerous tea kettles both expensive and inexpensive through the years. I do not mind if we have to use a hot pad to handle the kettle when in use. It's better than having a cooler handle that melts under pressure.
I have been using this kettle multiple times a day for a month now. I have a Bosch induction stove--no problems. Can boil full kettle (max water level) and easily grab the handle with bare hand, no mittens required. The whistle gets a bit warm, need to open it quickly, and it is on a quiet side, but these are minor drawbacks. Looks great and seems to be well-made. I would buy it again.
I love it! I use it everyday to slowly simmer whole seeds for an ayurvedic tea which I drink everyday. I also use it to boil water for other teas. The top of the handle is not that hot to pour, but if you grab the back to pour - it's a bit hotter and you may want to use an oven mitt. I did read other reviews saying it was heavy. If you fill it up all the way, it would be heavy. There's a line inside the pot, and that's where I stop. I'm not known for upper body strength, and I don't feel it's too heavy. However, you can always use your other hand with a mitt on, if you want to use 2 hands to pour. I keep it out on the stove, and it looks beautiful. I have all-clad pots as well, on our induction stove.
