Regarding the 1qt saucepan and 8 in skillet: the construction and appearance are, of course, excellent; however the handle of the skillet tapering rather narrowly where it meets the pan makes it almost totally useless when one needs to apply some force with a scraper to remove, for example, tomato sauce or something even thicker. As for the saucepan, when they say 1qt. they mean it. 1qt of liquid goes to the very rim; you can't actually cook 1qt. of anything, and you will not find anywhere in this world a stainless steel lid, or any other lid, for such a small pan so don't waste your time trying!

I'm a single person who prefers to eat at home. I'm also a cooking aficionado. I needed an egg pan, but every non-stick pan left me wishing I hadn't wasted my money. This small fry pan serves many purposes - and requires a generous dose of butter to let an egg cook and be released without sticking, but that is my preference. It's an "old-fashioned" fried egg. All-Clad provides stainless steel that cleans up quickly, even if food is stuck - a simple soak with water allows the pan to be wiped clean. I am happy with that. I love the saucepan as well. It is smaller than my other saucepans, but again, All-Clad quality is much better than any competition I've owned.

I read and watched all the care instructions before using my pan. Never used it on high heat (no more than medium), I use plenty of oil, and always clean immediately. Yet, after just a couple months, my pan has tons of burn marks on the bottom, scratches, and terrible scratching/disfiguring on the bottom. I contacted customer care and they told me that this is all my own misuse basically and there’s nothing they can do - so much for a lifetime warranty and quality guarantee. I’m a first-time and now last-time customer of All-Clad.

I have been happy with my All Clad stainless cookware, so I thought this would make a great gift for my daughter. The skillet is great. The sauce pan, however, tips over because the handle is disproportionately heavy (poor design) AND (this must be a defect?) the bottom isn't flat. It wobbles on a flat counter. If you aren't very, very careful when you set it down, it falls right over. That would make a mess when cooking, and it's a bit dangerous. I am not sure whether to contact All Clad or Sur La Table, both wonderful companies, but I will look into that next. I expected more.
Well, there is no lid to the little sauce pan. Who wants that? Sauce pans need lids. And the small frying pan is the same size as the one I bought with the set. I should have measured- but was under the impression that it was a helper size small one. I’m disappointed in general because my 5D pans scratch so easily too. I’m just disappointed with All Clad in general I guess…
Product is fine, the rivets get dirty fast. I would return this pan and the 12" version but the return policy is the worst. They have a 100% satisfaction guaranteed with the fine print that if used they take 30% off the top plus a $10-20 shipping charge back basically a 50% off to return the product. How on earth is that 100% guarantee. If All-Clad is confident in their product they should not have an issue giving a full refund even if used. I don't understand how anyone can say if they are satisfied without actually testing the product. Would have given 4 stars as the product is decent (minus one star for the rivets on the pans when competitors have them Rivet-less now and minus two stars for horrible return policy)
I've had an 8" pan for 2 years, and a 10" pan for 1 year.I have no complaints at all.I am careful about what sponges I use to clean it with.I use scotch-brite BLUE sponges (not the green), and it cleans the pan fine with no issues, and no scratches.I'm not going to say food doesn't stick, but I have a few tricks that allow me to get it clean with minimal issues, several tips from this websites cleaning recommendations.I had issues with scrambled eggs sticking terribly, but that was my fault.Premix your yokes/egg whites in a separate bowl.Butter in the pan, drop your pre-mixed eggs into the melted butter.Keep pan on medium heat (I have a glass stove top). When you see the edge of the egg being cooked, pull the cooked egg into the middle of the pan ... MoreI've had an 8" pan for 2 years, and a 10" pan for 1 year.I have no complaints at all.I am careful about what sponges I use to clean it with.I use scotch-brite BLUE sponges (not the green), and it cleans the pan fine with no issues, and no scratches.I'm not going to say food doesn't stick, but I have a few tricks that allow me to get it clean with minimal issues, several tips from this websites cleaning recommendations.I had issues with scrambled eggs sticking terribly, but that was my fault.Premix your yokes/egg whites in a separate bowl.Butter in the pan, drop your pre-mixed eggs into the melted butter.Keep pan on medium heat (I have a glass stove top). When you see the edge of the egg being cooked, pull the cooked egg into the middle of the pan (two strokes of the spurdle).Wait a little bit more for more to be cooked, and then wait, and by then most egg should be cooked, and move the uncooked to the pan until complete. It keeps the pan soooooo much cleaner, might stick in a small spot or 2, but cooking that way helped me ALOT.Sometimes meat will stick, like sausage patties for example, but right after I remove the meat from the pan, even if it looks stuck, I run the pan under cold water and "swoosh" the water around, and due to the heat differential and the bubbles from the heat it will oftentimes pull any burnt residue off the bottom of the pan. If you let it dry, it is a BEAR to remove.Anyway Good luck!
I had been looking for a small frying pan and also more small-sized saucepans for reheating leftovers. This set had both and is perfect for my needs. This is my first time purchasing All-Clad and I notice less sticking and easier clean up than with some of my other stainless pots and pans. I also really appreciated that this particular set was made in USA.
I love the shape of the 1 qt saucepan. The height and width are in proportion so things don't boil over. I have one from years ago that is too short and too wide to be useful. The fry pan is perfect for frying 2 eggs. You have to follow directions when using frying pans. Heat the pan first. When water dances, add the oil. When the oil shimmers, add the food. Then things don't stick. Use Barkeepers Friend to clean. I've been loving my All-Clad for over 40 years. I've already passed some pans down to my daughter. Lasts more than a lifetime.
I was surprised at the slope of the handle on the 1 quart pot. It is much steeper, by at least 10 degrees, than any other All-Clad pot we own and we have 6 of different sizes with a single long handle. I have tried in numerous ways to flip two eggs in the 8 inch fry pan. The eggs flip nicely if I use enough EVO, but once flipped the yolks stick to the pan like they’ve been welded there and refuse to move. Very disappointing for someone who likes his eggs over easy. I have tried using lower temperatures all to no avail. I bought this set because I thought it would be ideal for cooking breakfast (eggs and oatmeal), but it turns out I was wrong. Not happy with the results. If you have any suggestions, let me know. The oatmeal also sticks to the pot.
