Be sure ground stakes are secured as deep as possible into the ground for maximum pull strength. 4. If securing to a fence post or eye bolt on building, be sure the fixture is strong enough to secure the weight of a lunging or pulling dog. 5. Check the condition of the dog's collar and hardware before use. If the collar is older or beginning to show signs of wear, do not use with a tie-out. 6. Attach one of the tie-out clasps to the stake or swivel ring. 7. Attach the other clasp on the metal D-ring on the dog's collar.
