I wanted a bit more structure and I liked the new look with a more rounded toe. For the most part they are comfortable but not as comfortable as Runner 1. For some reason the top of the shoe across the bridge of my foot, digs in. If I don’t wear socks, it leaves and impression of the outline of the tongue in my skin. I have reduced the lace tension and that has helped but the tongue needs to be pulled up taught. I’m hoping they will stretch but I will likely go back to the first generation since my intention with these shoes is to have comfort over “running” function.

Ah, the dangers of online retail, for a wool tragic determined to support the concept: I have 3 pairs now (Wool Dasher Mizzle 2 size 13 and 12, and Wool Runner size 12). With the absence of convenient retail outlets here in Sydney I first purchased the Dasher Mizzle 2 size 13 (I take a US 13 in other brands). Turned out too long and tight a fit around the mid-foot (for long thin feet?), and the upper has a 'cardboard'-type flexion: it has developed a crease line and makes an audible 'creak' during wear. Then read the fine print and learned I can't return them as under the Allbirds returns policy the item must be unworn. Then tried the size 12, and the mid-foot tightness is far too great, but can't return them either since I've worn them. I love the colour and the shape of the new design. But I have a major gripe with the inside of the back of the shoe where heel slides in, it starts pilling on the very first day and continues pilling every day after that. The older model doesn’t have that problem. Please sort it out , would have given a five star but this earns a three star only. And can I please, please request for more fun colours? I own seven woman’s wool runners and loved them all, the colours you have now are totally boring. Bring back all you lovely fun colours like so many of us are asking.

The shoes look fantastic and are surprisingly breathable and comfortable in 30°C weather. However, after just two months of use, they're already showing heavy signs of wear. The edge of the sole has started to fray and wear down from walking, and the front part of the sole is starting to show cracking vertical lines where the shoe bends. Overall, I'm still pretty happy with them, but they're not as comfortable as I would have expected for walking days of 15k+ steps. Will have to see how well they hold up for the rest of the summer.
I previously ordered Tree Runner mens 9.5 size which fits and feels excellent. However, the cool runner fits more snug on the top of the foot. It's due to the thick insole, to the point that it was very uncomfortable to wear. I had to remove the insole and repace it with my orthotic insole. It now feels very comfortable to wear. The length is fine.
I've taken these on several work trips since getting them, and overall they are great! Easy to get on and off through security, comfortable for walking around and wearing for long periods of time.My one 'but' is about the tongue - Frequently the edges of the tongue fold over on the bottom and/or sides when you put the shoes on. This creates a sore point and has to be readjusted. Once it lies flat, you are back into full comfort. A slight adjustment to how the tongue is sewn/connected and these would be a total homerun.
I was looking forward to getting the new version of these shoes, especially given the improvement to the toe box design mentioned on the website. I really like the changes they made to the upper, making the toe box larger and seeming to give the fabric a bit more strength or structure. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of this latest trend toward thicker/taller soles, and I was surprised at how much thicker these are vs. the original, and just can't get past that. Sadly, I ended up returning them.
The texture and feel of the wool is fantastic, overall impression on the build quality is top notch (hopefully it will last me a long time). The overall shape of the shoes is ok, doesn’t fit my duck foot perfectly but that’s just a personal gripe. The sole is a bit weird, while it does provide genuine support around my arch and I have enough room at the toe box area. There’s this strange “step” sensation where the back of the feet are raised considerably and quite noticeably compare to the front. I could also feel the ridge of the “step” in the middle. Overall comfort on a long walk is not as good as the first generation.
Ugly shoe. Terrible dimensions. Sole unbalanced with upper. Incidentally colour range available is less desirable than before the company transitioned to its present NZ based management. What a terrible business decision. Plus why can’t I order from the US store as the NZ store can’t apparently provide the same level of product…. . I used to be a great supporter of AllBird. No more.
