Allen 1 Bike Folding Carrier - MT-1

This is great except watch out if your top tubes don't fit in, I thought it was standard all size fit - my mistake. Fits and installs on car easy but tricky is the two bike holding straps - this really needs improvement as you will stand there for 20 mins trying to get the tabs through the plastic hole... It's a good quality product for the price but the design of straps need improvement.

Excellent Rack. Fitted correctly and tightly this single bike rack is sturdy does not allow for rattles or damage to your car. SUV perfect!Staff are incredibly knowledgeable and courteous at Bentleigh store.

Absolutely the Best!

I bought this to carry one mountain bike from Austin Texas to Southern Cakifornia. I drove through two rain lightening storms with winds clocked at 35 mph on one and one stretch of highway under repair (gravel road) and the bike and bike rack never moved an inch. I have a Subaru Crostrek which was not listed on the box as an approved vehicle but I risked using it since the back of my car was similar to others in the list. This is VERY easy to attach to your car. I used the excess straps to hold the wheels. My bike had both wheels on. I also used a bungee cord through back wheel to ensure the pedal did not move during transport. I noticed one previous comment that their bike fell off . nice sturdy item but could not use on my Chevy Spark hatchback as it entirely blocked my license plate. not willing to risk a traffic ticket. probably would work fine on a larger vehicle.

Does job but...

Does the job really well for my 2018 Nissan Murano SUV. Make sure to tighten the straps in such a way that a part (the rubber feet) doesn't lean on your rear windshield wiper and break it. Also make sure to have the feet replaced by the Allen sports company (or take a defective item back to Walmart in exchange for another one) if the rubber feet break or comes off. I had to exchange for another Allen rack since one of the rubber feet came off and damaged my license plate to the metal - as what happened to another reviewer.

Excellent single bike rack

This is an excellent single bike rack. Walmart had it for $40 ($10 less than others) with free shipping. It is very easy to attach to my 2014 Toyota Camry SE (which even has a tiny spoiler on the trunk). It is incredibly sturdy and immovable on the car. Follow the instructions for placing the bike with the gears facing away from the car. You'll need one extra short bungee cord to wrap through the front wheel and hold both the wheel and the pedal shaft in position. You can use a 2nd single short bungee cord to keep the back wheel from spinning - if you prefer. Great idea!

Works like a charm. I have a Nissan Juke and this carrier worked perfectly. I had to buy an Allen bar for my women's bike to hang the bike on and then it worked great. This carrier is very sturdy and I feel the bike is very secure and stable on the car. Easy to put on and take off. I am 64 and can do it myself. So glad I found this so I can now go riding without having to borrow my husband's van to cart the bike around.

Perfect for smaller cars!

This has been Great! I live on a farm road with no shoulders and a 60 mph speed limit so I have to take my bike to work and afterwards ride the trails along the Trinity River. Allen claims this won't fit my car, yet my bile has "logged" well over 300 miles to and from work on the back of my car. Once I had it mounted on my car and adjusted so my 700cc bike doesn't hang over a foot and a half on one side, I haven't removed it. 2 quick release straps holds the bike securely in place even on the 70mph freeway to work and back!

Perfect for teh right applications

I've seen a lot of people bash this rack here and on that other site that begins with an A and ends with a zon :-). People need to consider what a product is and what is intended for before ordering and have it not live up to their expectations. This an inexpensive COMPACT bike rack. And while some people have reported good results on longer trips, I would NEVER expect to use a rack like this to transport my bike from Maine to Oregon. What this rack is perfect for is to keep in your trunk for emergencies and short trips at local road speeds. I'm an avid cyclist. I have a heavy duty Swagman rack that goes in the hitch receiver of my SUV if I'm taking my bike on long trip. This rack folds up to about the size of a shoe box. Work just ok

Worked for a short 200 mile trip, but not without stops to check as it was rattling against the window of the SUV. If your bike is wider than the back of your vehicle, the parts that stick out will be pulled away from the car while you drive, and the straps do not seem to be secure enough to prevent this.
