I used it originally in the 7 gm packets. Worked fine but, obviously, had to be matched to the flour, salt, and water volumes. But, as a singleton but also baking in batches for family then moved on to the loose yeast in the container. That made adapting recipes and measurements more effective. I use a very accurate scale. Be aware that it will slowly lose potency. So use well within the end date.Allinson website is useful, and the recipes all work. Though, as with all recipes, adapt and modify to suit your preferences

Over the years I have used fresh yeast, dried, sachets etc. This is definitely the most useful. I have noted the comments of others on its keeping qualities. I have experienced absolutely no problems since I abandoned my breadmaker. Handling the dough means I can judge if it needs more flour or water. The rate at which it rises can vary hugely. But it always rises. The one thing I do do is reuse the ring pull, laying it on top of the yeast in the tub, so the yeast granules are exposed to as little air as possible. Several months after opening, I'm still getting excellent results.

Used with Allison strong white flour. First time making bread. And it worked. Great sachets no waste and accurate measurements.

Not previously used these sachets, but following a number of disappointing results using the tinned variety decided to try this range. So far very good results using our breadmaker. More expensive but at least not wasting money throwing away the the bricks we have been getting
In June/August I bought two tins to use with my Panasonic breadmaker (Expiry 01/22). I used to use sachets. Absolutely fine until last week when a loaf failed to rise. I put it down to old flour (2019). Tried again with fresh flour. Same result. I thought my breadmaker had broken, I've had it many years without trouble. Finally my husband read the details on the yeast tin (with a magnifier!) and saw it should have been kept in the fridge after opening. So I binned it and tried again with the unopened tin. Success. Please emphasize this in your product description.
I much prefer Allinson's Dried Active Yeast which used to be the one stocked by Ocado. This Easy Bake Yeast has the addition of a Flour Treatment Agent: Ascorbic Acid. I do realise that this is the technical name for Vitamin C .The Dried Active Yeast just had the water taken out.Why did you change? I have just spent a few mins finding another supplier - there are a few out there. Please bring it back.
At last, Asda now stock this yeast in tins, so much more convenient than sachets for me. I use a bread maker and just one teaspoonful is all that is required. Seal using supplied push on plastic lid and store in fridge once opened. Very easy, very convenient and always makes good bread in machine
I have been using Allinson’s Easy Bake yeast together with Waitrose Canadian flour in the ingredients in a Panasonic Bread Maker successfully for more than 25 years. I have had good sized and tasty loaves. Recently the size of the loaves got smaller to the extent they were not a good loaf even after I had opened new flour and a new tin of yeast.I purchased a new Panasonic Bread Maker (my fourth) a week ago and went ahead making a fresh loaf today but with the same results, hardly risen loaf, so the machine I disposed of wasn’t the problem after all!Reading the reviews below, some tell me that the tin of yeast should be kept in the fridge once opened, which I’ve never done so I’m surprised the problem hasn’t happened before except that the formulation may have ... MoreI have been using Allinson’s Easy Bake yeast together with Waitrose Canadian flour in the ingredients in a Panasonic Bread Maker successfully for more than 25 years. Ignore the negative reviews. If their bread maker loaves are not rising, their recipes are at fault. We've been using this yeast for years and make around four loaves a week, and only one experimental loaf has ever failed. The recipe was the problem, not the yeast.
I bake a basic bread loaf twice a week and make my own pizza dough, ciabatta and brioche. This works and its easy to use (though I always activate it before adding to most breads) but and this is a big but Ocado I want the fresh yeast back, I know I may be imagining it but it makes my loaves taste better and the structure is lighter. So in the meantime yes this is fine it works, but please bring back the fresh yeast, ok?
