The jacket looks really good, fit is definitely different and runs big as "Core" is described. I found the stitching was loose and coming apart in three places on the storm flap, right out of the box. I thought these iconic jackets were made in the USA but the label says Made in China, unfortunately. That would explain the low quality of this jacket and as I paid $330 Canadian dollars, I expected alot more. I will probably not be buying any Alpha industries jackets in the future.

Had one when I was a teenager. Loved it back then, love it even more now! Maybe a little expensive, but I got it on sale. Quality is still there. Nice “A” logo embroidered on lapel, nice touch. “Remove before flight” cheap, not embroidered but iron-on. No biggie though, cause I removed it. Great jacket!!!! 5’4” 190 lbs/stocky. Large size fits just right. I don’t like tight jackets and this is not. Not too baggy either.

Love it. Bought a different bomber jacket in the store before that was a bit too small and gave it to my brother in law. Fits him perfectly. Former airline pilot and he loves it. Got myself this one, a size larger (XL instead of L), and it fits perfect and looks great.Has that shiny look like these kind of jackets all have, but I am a professional stallion groom and always bring plenty of dust with my work clothes into my truck and just will store the jacket there a while to get some “I wear this jacket for many years look” into it and get rid of the disco shine. :-)As for size. I am 6.0 / 185. I usually buy everything in L and sometimes in M. Never in my enter life have I bought anything in XL. This jacket is the first time that I did. So it runs small.

Purchased the black version in my normal size (Med - I wear size 50 in EU sizing, between a 38 and 39 US, or medium for most outerwear, and my size is 6' 1" and 180lbs).So, great fit, great look, nicely insulated so god for cool weather. All good, should be stylish jacket; BUT, ...For some reason on the black the decision was made to use (very) bright gold main/torso and sleeve zipper. Cheapens the whole look - less sleek and sophisticated and more unnecessarily 'blingy' / gaudy vibe - certainly not a sophi8sticated look - but might be desirable for making you very visible in low light or from low flying plane.I'm considering the blue (tho really wanted black) because it's otherwise a great jacket and the zippers are toned down on the blue - blue tabs, muted ... MorePurchased the black version in my normal size (Med - I wear size 50 in EU sizing, between a 38 and 39 US, or medium for most outerwear, and my size is 6' 1" and 180lbs).So, great fit, great look, nicely insulated so god for cool weather. A shame.
I had one 30 years ago in Royal Blue and wore it for a good 10 years. It was so well made that I could not wear it out. I ended up donating it to my local Church. Now, I bought another one in Black, love it. It brings back good fishing/hunting memories. I used the reverse side as a hunters orange safety jacket.I am 6' 2" at 190LB, I ordered slim in XL which fits perfect in length and shoulders width. Sleeves are perfect length, the slim jacket looks much better than original one being more tapered for slim or athletic figures.I recommend this beautiful jacket 100%.
Jacket is color I have been searching seeking for a while. Sadly I have issues with the other jacket that purchased with this one. While I generally have been happy with previous purchases, this last one has left a bitter taste. Charged me $200 and jacket goes on sale the day after I receive it. Will be posting this incident on social media.
I always loved the look of a Bonner jacket on others, but they never worked well on my slim frame. When I finally chose to pick one up and give it a proper chance, Alpha Industries was the only choice after a fair amount of research. When I saw they offered a slim fit, I ordered that same day. It came fast, and fit perfectly. It’s extremely comfortable and keeps me quite warm! Everyone at work has made several compliments, and comments asking where I got it. Frankly, don’t hesitate, pick one up if you are thinking about it. In suits - and keep in mind I like a tailored/fitted look - I’m either a 36R and a 38R - depending on the maker, and sometimes somewhere in between. So I took a chance on a size small, and like I said, it was a perfect fit.
I bought a Flight jacket off of a website. It was customized to my favorite band. When I received it, it was not the flight jacket I remember I used to wear back in the day. It was cheap, and generic. I decided to go to Alpha direct and purchase the MA-1 Bomber jacket to customize myself. It is exactly what I remember. High quality and perfect, I can't even wear the Rothco jacket now. It feels like I'm wearing a garbage bag. Thank you, Alpha, for making high quality gear!
Look the jacket is awesome like all the jackets. But the sizing is weird. My husband has the same jacket in the same slim fit in the green/orange combo. He’s had it for years and loved it. I got the NASA one and he complained about how baggy it was, which led to the return and purchase of this same jacket just in the black. I don’t know what’s happened, but the upper arm area is too tight. He couldn’t even lift his arm to drive. There was no way to o keep the jacket unfortunately.
I have several Alpha jackets, and enjoy them all. The MA-1 is a classic and is as comfortable as your favorite sweatshirt. Toss it on for cooler temps. The rib-knit collar and cuffs keep the elements out. Zipper is goof-proof. Just enough insulation for a comfy jacket, without wearing a pillow.Maybe not a huge statement, but sometimes function trumps fashion.I knew what I wanted; a very versatile and relaxed jacket that works in nearly every casual environment.
Alpha Industries MA-1 Bomber
A mid-weight flight nylon with water resistance and scads of versatility, the MA-1 Navy fighter pilot jacket was the first military flight jacket to cross over into civilian fashion. Our nylon flight jacket includes knit cuffs, a knit collar and waistband, as well as a strong front zipper with storm flap for warmth. There are multiple snap-closure pockets as well as the utility/pencil pocket with the "Remove Before Flight" keychain. Our MA-1 jackets are reversible to bright orange, making them ideal for rescue missions and other times when visibility is imperative. This current version has been kept as close as possible to the classic specifications (dating back to the early 1950s) and also received several revisions during the 1960s.
